  1. Not really, only 1 assist in 30 odd games. I know I'm in a minority of 1 but to me Shaw is vastly overated. He's a good player for his age but not a great player on a global scale.
  2. Perhaps we need the money . I don't know when the PL hand over the cash but we've 22 million in outstanding transfer fees to pay, plus you seem to get better terms if you pay up more quickly, or was that just an excuse, sorry reason, for getting a loan from Vibrac. 15000 STs bought and paid for in May will give us over 10 million in the coffers.
  3. Couldn't on Saturday. 7 crosses only 1 reached a Saints player. There is absolutely no point of him charging up the field if he doesn't do anything useful with the ball at the end of it. He was poor on Saturday, perhaps the season, has taken it's toll, he's only a young lad. Personally I'd swap him for a real LB (like Kurzawa from Monaco) and a winger.
  4. Realistically we won't get 30 million for Shaw. 30 million £ buys you a top class fully fledged multi-capped player. Shaw is none of those and he is as of yet weak defensively, can't shoot and can't cross. Asking 30 million for him will be good for us, no-one will pay that and we get to keep him.
  5. Don't think that's right, there is a fee of £45 per ticket if you want to pay by instalments it's not 45£ per game.
  6. Any team with KD and Jos in it isn't necessarily good enough to win anything. That's the problem with keeping old duffers like KD hanging around, you give them game time and they aren't good enough, same as Hooieveld this season. Whoever gave Davis a contract until 2016 has done us a vast disservice. Waste of money that should be being used on a real understudy for Boruc, instead of that we have 3 half baked duffers who probably wouldn't make one decent keeper between them.
  7. Well then that was a very poor show indeed, makes you wonder why the club employ a global sponsorship executive really, perhaps he's not there any more.
  8. Does Rowe even train with the frst team ? Don't remember seeing him on any of the galleries. I think we can be sure that if you're not training with the first team you'll not be part of it at any time soon.
  9. But they had a contract and no-one wanted to pay enough to buy them out of it. We are small fry, or at least we were when any shirt sponsor negociation was going on last Spring/Summer. Now the problem has gone because their contract is over.
  10. Sporting Director I'd expect if anything.
  11. Commercially aware doesn't mean fleecing the audience you already have a bit more, it means seeking new sources of revenue. Like getting a decent shirt sponsor.
  12. How can the average be higher than any of the components used to calculate it, anyway the average ST price depends on how many of each are available. If there are 100 at 750£ and only 50 at 700£ the average is 733£ and not 725£

  14. Pochettino has failed us ??? The "board" failed us in January, the story ends there with them and their corner shop economics.
  15. Lallana is in fact 26 very soon and as you say he will have to decide this summer if he wants to be a one club man and win nothing or move on and be the top footballer that he obviously has the potential to be.He probably only has 3 or 4 more years at top level.
  16. Arsenal and Utd, will both need some reasonably priced strengthing this summer for their Europa League campaigns.
  17. However those who have followed Saints for many years will no that no player who's determined to leave to further his career (in his way of thinking) has ever been not for sale. Every player has a price.
  18. I'd consider a draw as a decent result actually if we have to play Gazza in goal again. Getting the impression that this season just needs to end.
  19. Depends what we're offering him doesn't it ? Can't see us keeping him on to play a few minutes every now and again really. He's out of contract this summer and at the last we heard hadn't been offered a new one.
  20. This is a problem that's easily overcome by getting into Europe, there are far more games to be played and most players get a fair amount of chance. You can even extend it to the Cups, if you've got a decent squad you can put out respectable sides in the Cups and progress. Whereas if you've got a weak squad you end up with good players suffering from the failings of poor players and the team doesn't progress.
  21. See thread about players leaving, apparently the club rate Chambers as a better RB than Clyne .
  22. Guly, Forte and Isgrove are out of contract this summer so they'd be moving on as free agents with no nominal fees attached. Sharp will probably be moving out again, no doubt on loan with us continuing to pick up part of his salary. Other than that I think Morgan has nailed his colours to the mast so he'll be off and probably Shaw as well. We'll need to sort out the Clyne/Chambers situation as well, Nat won't want to play second fiddle for long, still think we've got that one wrong, not a big Chambers fan myself, solid but Clyne is better.
  23. People need to get over this "it's the midfield" fixation, 2 of them aren't there to score goals, they're basically defenders. Where we err is in attack, we are not clinical in our finishing. I think we had 15 shots on goal on Saturday and failed to score, Liverpool had 10 and scored 3 times. Lambert drops too deep and gets under the feet of the creative midfielders so they drop deeper and deeper. Gallagher isn't up to the job of leading the line and Lallana is hit and miss with his shooting. We needed to sign a keeper and a striker in January but the place was in a mess and we did absolutely feck all so we are now paying the price for that.
  24. When Gallagher started against Arsenal he looked lively, that might have been because he was playing with JRod and not instead of him. Today I thought he offered very little in his 25 minutes on the pitch.
  25. Plans B C D E and F involved sending on the efficient striker that we didn't buy in January because we are in a "difficult finanancial situation". Jeez have those people something to learn about football finances. I thought we played well enough today but had nothing at the sharp end again.
