  1. Which was still in France last time I looked. Anyway that's not the point, nationality is decided differently in France and all those born here are French unless they renounce nationality, used to be a bit more complicated when we still had national service because they had to do that to qualify and many of them didn't fancy it. Saw PSG U19s the other day, all of African descent every one of them.
  2. Spurs played well, just couldn't finish any of it off. Townsend loooked really dangerous.
  3. Spurs could have had a shedload of goals today, mind you that's partly Arsenal's fault because their midfield was too weak. When will Wenger accept that he'll never make a DM out of Chamberlain ? He's handy going forward, defensively he's a liabilty so Wenger has to choose between OxC,Rosicky,Podolski and Cazorla for his 3 AM places. They got out of jail today because spurs couldn't hit the proverbial barn door but on another day they could have shipped 8.
  4. bloke was on one leg, the longer the game went on the worse it probably got. Davis is injured and Gazzaniga is a non-starter evidently so we'll just have to put up with some duff kicking for a while.
  5. No reason for them not to be at the top, it's a bloody expensive side, that's why they lost 50+ million £ last season.
  6. Trashed it ? not sure, think it just got old but he's certainly not done much to rejuvenate it. As I said earlier on their problem is in CM, Carrick is getting old and with their ageing CBs and constant injuries to others they're dropping Jones back into the defence all of the time instead of using him alongside Carrick where he played last season. Fellaini needs to be further forward than he appears to be, at Everton Osman and Pienaar were the CM pair with Fellaini in front of them as Davis is to us. No point in paying 20+ million for a bloke and then misusing him, needed other signings. Could well be that they've got themselves into a salarial pit with keeping the oldies on long after their useful term has past, like Giggs...contributes nothing as a player, bet he's not on the 5K a week he's actually worth though. For Rooney's actual contribution 300K a week is just ridiculous, a good manager would tell him to f*ck off the minute he starts asking for more money as he seems to every season.
  7. Mata was a good buy if a bit expensive at 37 million, doesn't help if Moyes doesn't know what to do with him though. Utd's problem is their CM, Carrick has no bite just now and Fellaini is just junk, probably because he needs to play farther forward but they already have enough underperforming players in that area.
  8. Getting a better known sponsor will help us with global recognition I think. Can't be much worse than the tinpot outfit who no doubt give us a pittance now anyway.
  9. Norwich probably came for the draw, their original line-up suggested that anyway. As we've found it hard to score at home of late they may well have been perfectly right in their assumption that with a midfield 5 they might shut us out. But Gaston dazzled them early on and we hit them early on with an unexpected move, after that they were just rank until they finally brought on their better players for a last gasp effort. Very poor management from Hughton, should be long gone by now but Delia obviously has faith in tea-boy managers.
  10. Good football means nothing to the average US citizen, success is what you need to impress them, well at least in their choice of their second favourite team anyway.
  11. because they are historically successful teams with big name players. If we want to conquer the US fan market we'll need big name players and they'll cost us a lot of money. Green Bay have always had big names even when it comes to everybody's favourite villains, Favre must have been one of the most hated QBs in history (outside Green Bay and Wisconsin in general that is)
  12. you just can't tell, saw 3 matches yesterday, only Saints game was relatively free of extremely arbitrary reffing decisions and even then you could question a couple of non-yellow given occasions. Foy is supposed to be a decent ref but his decisions were totally arbitrary in a couple of cases, same offences, different punishments, Baker should have gone early on if Willian's efforts were worth 2 yellows. Kompany's dismissal was iffy, it was a dog fight between he and Jelavic with Kompany committing the last of 3 or 4 fouls and getting a red card, plenty would have blown up for a foul against Jelavic before then.
  13. I hate the Packers, dirtiest team in the NFL, wouldn't mind a similar success rate though. 2 superbowls in about 12 years, 2 PL league titles before 2025 would suit me fine.
  14. Well when you know that Chelsea,City,Newcastle and Arsenal probably don't have 6 regularly starting English players between them that knocks the odds down a bit. Just leaves Utd,Liverpool,Spurs,Everton and Saints of the top half of the table to use as a source of players. In England's last squad of 30 no outfield player came from a club outside the top 9 of the PL and with such feeble contributions from 4 sides because the just don't have many English players the others have at least 3 or 4 players each.
  15. At last it's twigged on them that they get far more niggling and ongoing injuries than their fair share would seem to predict..
  16. Probably just the points lost in home defeats against Villa and Tottenham. Then again you could put those 6 points down to the home draws with West Ham, Stoke and Sunderland...not a very precise science.
  17. See a lot of our lads had new boots again yesterday, Nike do seem to change the colourways a lot this season. Think that the 4th colour system that some of them have had in 7 months.
  18. With a dodgy leg, probably be out if we had any viable alternative.
  19. Well that was a bit standing up in a hammock wasn't it........
  20. Hope he's seen enough of Lallana as well then, far below his usual standard today.
  21. Holding the ball up is vastly overated, gives the opposition time to get back and re-group.
  22. You are probably right, they were just squaddies to the residents of Poole and it's surrounds though. Poole was a great place empoisoned by grockels and squaddies, sorry booties.
  23. I remember the Jolly Miller in Poole when the squaddies from Napier Rd came into town of a Friday night, absolute chaos, there were few Friday nights when the MPs didn't have to come round and sort it out. Think there was a really big barny there once, people might have actually got killed or seriously maimed or something. My neighbour was a Napier Rd marine officer (SBS ??) and he once told me than in theory the Miller was off limits to certain ranks but they went there anyway.
  24. don't get confused by people tacking known events together to make a Tom Clancy novel out of them. Here's the rub on the 2 EX Seals, anyone who knew what they are talking about would know that these 2 blokes were private security guards and not serving seals. http://www.nytimes.com/2014/02/21/world/africa/dead-guards-on-freighter-are-identified-as-former-navy-seal-members.html?_r=0 However Trident is probably one of these nebulous organisations that can only exist in the US, you can't rule out it being a sub governmental organisation for some operations.
  25. I feel that he needs to stop making awful passes like he did last week. Just destroys everything we attempt, either by making an awful pass or not being where he should be when he should be. Looked over last week's game again yesterday evening, he was rank, absolutely rank.
