  1. we'd be above them apart from Gazza's Santa acts. Still they cost Nigel his job so I expect he feels suitably ashamed.
  2. But the very young players might get confused mighten they ? Silly boy, they should just all be banned from tweeting, stupid idea anyway.
  3. I think the talent pathway is a bit of a bone of contention at SFC. Nigel paid lip service to it but didn't actually do much about it. If Fox had been in any way adequate Luke would still be in the youth teams. Cortese wants talent from the academy structure in the first team all over the field, he's not getting much of it and when José got injured we had to go and spend money again because nothing is coming through.
  4. out of interest DD, when you get a new commander even though you liked the old one you don't work any less well do you? It's exactly the same with footballers I expect, there's a structure and change happens.
  5. he's there, right at the start.
  6. Reading,Villa, Wigan looks good to me. There'll be a scramble for Martinez though.
  7. we'll see but Remy might be the missing piece in their jigsaw. They just aren't all that bad.
  8. Why does the human race always need to believe that there's always someone or something higher up the ladder than any given person or entity ? This is it, NC has no superiors as far as SFC goes. He said it himself in one of his Q+A sessions.
  9. as good as yes,
  10. some of our posters never seem to have had a new boss though or if they did they'd probably sulk for weeks.
  11. Players look real sad don't they and MP seems to be talking to them...how can that be then?
  12. Yes but no-one seems to believe me. Hey but what can you do.
  13. they'll probably get in touch with the wrong ones. Anyway as I said yesterday it is a totally useless gesture. NC=DMSWL613=SFC
  14. He would say keep smiling, believe you can get better...in fact he did say that apparently.
  15. out of the door was the right way to go, whatever it took was the right way to do it.
  16. well at least we won't have to listen to the same tired idioms week after week and the avoidance of any question requiring a straightforward answer. Just put up the training ground videos and leave the yap, yap, yap out.
  17. don't know him as a man but his press conferences had become crap in the main.
  18. well yes, of course I have because certain aspects of his tenure were highly criticable. Not going to go over them again and again. He was a reasonable manager but his loss does certainly not justify all the caterwailing going on.
  19. I noticed that as well, I've said a few times that there seems to be an awful lot of wastage from our academy and that there are certain positions that we don't seem to develop at all well. Left back...tops, CB ..inexistant.
  20. what we will probably see is something similar to the formation we used at Chelsea with Morgan playing in front of Cork and maybe another DM, pressing higher up the field, was that an Adkins system or a precursor of the Pöchettino era ? There will be less space between the front recoverer and Gaston and they will play in a sort of tandem role.
  21. Torres is burnt out, just wants to go back to Spain. Gaston is far younger and has all his career in front of him. Torres is 28, he's played over 600 games of football, an average of 60 games a year from the age of 18 onwards, that's a fantastic career for a player of that age but now he's finished.
  22. Joan must be the Catalan version of Juan I suppose, loads of them, Espanyol's president is called Joan as well. Perhaps he made them all change their names, perhaps all of our players should be called Nicola.
  23. Ramirez is supposed to be our playmaker and he's no doubt very good at it, just got to use him correctly and stop sticking him out on the left to be able to play JRod and Lambert.. Misuse of Gaston probably really riled NC.
  24. Make a fast buck ? Have your personal fortune depleted by a couple of hundred million you mean. I'd say to date owning Saints has cost M Liebherr and his estate somewhere around 100 million and it ain't going to get much better at any time in the near future.
  25. Spanish clubs work in a strange way, most of them elect a president (chairman) every x years or so. Espanyol got a new president a while back and the first thing he did was fire Pochettino and put his own man in.
