Just as well, when he does we usually lose.

Noticed an Independent Interview with Nige from about the end of December. Here's an extract, sorry if it's already been posted Adkins would not be drawn on whether he would make another move for the England goalkeeper and was similarly coy when asked about reports linking Southampton with Cagliari defender Davide Astori. "I am aware of him, I know he is a good centre-half," Adkins said of the Italy international. "We haven't put a bid in as far as I am aware and I don't think we've made any enquiries about him. "You've asked me if I know about him and I know about him. We've got a very good European scouting network now. "There are lots of players that we talk about, we are aware of, we scout but it doesn't mean we're going to buy them or make any inquiries. "You need to be aware of them and that is something we have developed a lot over the last 12 months. "Paul Mitchell has come in as head of recruitment from that point of view and it is something we've improved a hell of a lot of. "We have a lot more contacts, a lot more of contacts we can ask, which is important." PA

Went there, Alp's mum ran the place at one time I think.
-
after we broke his arm you mean, got trampled IIRC
-
so the rumours can only come from agents. Need clamping down on. Let them do their own prospecting and not rely on the moronic press.
-
exactly, good (ish) players can get drowned in the seas of crap around them.
-
Ciaran Clark isn't exactly lower league rubbish, only ever played for Villa I think, more PL games than all of our CBs put together.
-
would you take a point at Villa if offered now?
Window Cleaner replied to whelk's topic in The Saints
depends on other results really, if the 3 teams below us were to lose a point would be handy. -
the demarcation is decided by 3 criteria 1: Will it sell papers 2: Is it libellous 3: Is there a D Notice A yes and 2 noes and it's published
-
Looked like it, less certain about Clyne though. Nigel wasn't exactly evasive about him, said he probably be fit but they'd not be overly concerned if Cork had to start at RB again.
-
It's only usually one of 5 or 6 players anyway. Mostly starters, some don't seem to do lead interviews.
-
I see that Rickie now has some orange boots, hope it's not too slippery at Villa Park then. Would it just be me or is Nigel's accent becoming more and more pronounced as the weeks go by ? Hardly noticed it last season or the one before, now he's scouse down to his boots.

what a f*cking mess, what's it to do with him .
-
probably at centre half or right back. Who knows with the club PR machine.
-
Hunter is not on the recruitment committee concerning first team players.
-
Yes there is, Cortese,Reed,Head Scout, Adkins, that's it the committee, public knowledge.
-
Justly it's not Adkins, that's the bloody problem.
-
Let's put it this way, in my own personal opinion as long as Les Reed is on any committee whatsover at SFC the results achieved by said committee will be open to question. Gerrard once said he had no respect for the man and neither do I. How can a man who has achieved so little be responsable for so much.

It might well have been planned to use an out and out striker as a wide man, we have some strange ideas like that. I mean it worked for Walcott didn't it but now he wants to be a real striker. Just because you're fast on your feet it doesn't make you a wide man although we seem to think that it does. To be a real wide man you need guile and speed and the ability to go past a player without losing control of the ball..
-
What wide man? Mayuka is a point striker, he's not a wide man.
-
Who we've been linked with for January thread...
Window Cleaner replied to Saint Garrett's topic in The Saints
Probably will, just a pity that NA has realised that about 8 games too late. -
he doesn't play him, it's evident.

The populace should not be entrusted with major decisions, as you say most of them do not have the intellectual capacity. Now if you had a referendum amongst those with at least a B.A or a B.Sc you might get a reasonable response. New York syndrome should always be remembered whgen any political decision is in the offing.
-
Nigel wanted 2 CBs he said so, pretty memorable really because he rarely says anything in so definitive a manner, he got 1 at the last gasp and had Mayuka forced upon him. Bloke needs to grow a pair and sort out that flipping committee.
-
But could the manager not say to the "transfer committee" I do not want Mayuka, I want a CB ? How difficult is that to achieve ?
