  1. Probably yes but on our terms and not theirs. Our terms weren't acceptable to them at the time so nothing was finalised.
  2. He's pretty much right though. We have good players, they can get us out of the situation.
  3. Indeed, not many of them didn't become full internationals, and not for Macedonia and Kazakhstan either.
  4. He'd be alright there if he had one of the best sides the Championship (let alone League 1) has ever seen.
  5. Who turned us down I believe. Doing pretty well at Marseille just now. Then again they've a strong squad in a relatively weak league. I mean Thauvin scored 3 last night against Metz. Bit of a failure at Newcastle wasn't he ?
  6. Because he wanted to be Chairman I suppose. Excellent footballer, probably none too bright though.
  7. We probably couldn't even get that done before he gets banned.
  8. Well you can write off Nasri, he's unemployed for a reason. Something to do with illegal vitamin shots I believe. I mean you could give him a contract until his UEFA ban kicks in I suppose but it won't be long in coming, his TAS appeal having been turned down mid January.
  9. All of these views don't take into account one basic thing. With whom do you replace him? The time for getting it right was last summer when there were still a few "respectable" managers about. Once other clubs start firing and hiring your choice becomes limited. We needed to get this right last June (or not sack Puel) and not be floundering around with an idiot at the helm once the season started.
  10. The difference being that Pochettino was a top class international footballer and had had a few years in management. He also had (and still has) a very tight knit and efficient coaching team that comes as part of the deal. This bloke was just a no mark that'd done a while assisting Benitez. Perhaps he was just put into place to await the eventual arrival of Benitez, who knows really.
  11. Why would he resign ? He was what he was when we appointed him so nothing has changed. It was up to Les and whoever to appoint the right bloke. Now if we want shot of him we have to sack him and pay him off. Fixed term contracts work that way. If he was a great manager and he wanted to leave to go to another club we'd ask for compensation, fixed term means fixed term you see.
  12. Persuading them to join the club is obviously a bit of a problem. Decent managers can be a bit choosy now cos there is a continual stream of jobs to pick from. Manager's jobs are like buses, if you miss one there be another along in a few minutes.
  13. No, Caveat Emptor.
  14. Fortunately for us none of those moves happened. My, there's some gone downhill, cheap and cheerfull listed there. Update the bloody black box, it's obviously 3 or 4 years out of date. Oh and I presume Ferry means Jordan Ferri from Lyon.
  15. Sorry about that. You get the point though. It's really too late now anyway. The situation is now down to the players, they have the ability to get us out of this mess and need to do so.
  16. Well no, getting a new transmission guarantees that your vehicle will keep on rolling for a while, it's a mechanical fact. Changing the manager with 13 games left of the league season guarantees nothing.
  17. Before he got here. Bloke had no pedigree for the job and really appointing him was just a stupid, stupid act. No doubt driven by desperation and cheapness.
  18. But 12 games takes you back to the autumn I think. Over the last 6 Brighton and Huddersfield have both picked up 1 less point than us. Think Huddersfield will go down myself, with Brighton and Palace.
  19. Not really, there are teams with worse form than ourselves just now. And the form book would say that we have the players to get us out of the situation.
  20. And you probably could if your contract was fixed term without performance related clauses.
  21. They spoke mostly about players from Burkina Faso and Congo.
  22. The point is as I pointed out in the Promes thread this afty, what's the point of buying players when you don't play them and use the oldies without end.
  23. Speaking of interesting football related pieces. There was one on Canal+ Sport yesterday which claimed some African players have suceeded in falsifying their age. So when you think they're really cracking players for 16 or 17 they're actually about 21 or 22.
  24. What money is it that people keep talking about ? We keep buying players with every penny that we get in. How much did we spend in the summer, about 40 or so million wasn't it? Sold JRod for 12 so where did that money come from ?
  25. It is so so easy to find 35 million or so of someone else's money.
