  1. Especially with our defence at the moment.
  2. So we defend man for man then and not zones. It doesn't matter who's the patsy that gets caught out every time because there will always be one if the keeper is static in a zonal system at set pieces. Keeper has the best vision of the whole picture, if you haven't got eyes in both sides of your head and at the back at well a forward moving defender with momentum will always catch you out in a zonal system. Wouldn't mind betting we have one of the worst records in the football league for goals conceded in this way.
  3. I really doubt that Lambert is playing badly because he's got the hump, he's playing badly because he's not fit enough, whether that is because he's upset over something or other I couldn't say.I did read somewhere that Middlesborough made an enquiry about him that was turned down flat...could be all BS though.
  4. The Pompey fiasco made it quite evident that no major (well sort of anyway) football team is going to go out of business in the forseeable future.Minnows maybe but anyone who has something that is worth something(like a league place and some sort of respectable fan base) will be allowed a whole lot of time before anything really drastic happens.
  5. Correct, see people all those with coaching certificates say exactly the same thing. When I'm working with the U15s in my small town team I use a standard zone coaching tactic, roping 4 of them together 5 metres apart. If the keeper doesn't come out well I'll drop him illico because he is weakening the whole system,it leaves a zone uncovered between the goal line and a line about 8 metres out.Obviously if the ball is too high he has to stay back but at head height or a bit above he comes out.Given that the attackers from deep always have the most forward momentum a static keeper is really a big big big problem at set pieces.
  6. but he was on the bench wasn't he, Seaborne not Martin, means he was fit enough to play because if not surely Martin would be on the bench.Other than that the managements esteem of Martin must be so low that even an (slightly) injured player is preferable to him, given that Martin played 90 minutes in the stiffs earlier in the week.
  7. Perhaps he's not comfortable with the system without the 5 metre rope, anyway if we're defending zones Davis has one as well, 10 yards from his goal line. You cannot defend in zones from corners with the keeper rooted to his goal line. It is the ABC of football coaching.
  8. Not that nice young man Lee Barnard eh !!!
  9. still first team coach though. NA should have insisted that he was shown the door and brought his own man in. Oh right he got the managers job at Scunnthorpe. What I'll say to you all is remember Glynn Snodin, first team coach is a vital role and if you get it wrong disaster is always waiting round the bend.
  10. Neither does his ball control or his creation of time for other players to move into space (which some of them aren't too great at just now) but Chaplow is NA's binky so whatever happens he'll be on the team sheet, just like Lambert. Dropping MS for Chaplow when he came back from the 2 game U21s session last month was not wise. It's obviously p*ssed Morgan off and I don't doubt that all he wants now is to leave.
  11. which is what I said, undermined by the coaches, Wilkins isn't the only one who's still here.
  12. cleaned up his act since he's been with us though, hardly a card in sight, got shedloads at MK Dons. I do sometimes wonder if this isn't some sort of club policy or other to come down really hard on players who get a few cards. To get the number of cards that he did at MK must mean he had a bit of an aggressive nature and now he doesn't seem to have it anymore (or that he's got better at tackling). As Malcolm Allison once said you can coach all the talent out of footballers as well.
  13. But Downes is no longer here, defensive specialist anyway,Downes was the assistant manager. Wilkins is the first team coach.
  14. to me AP was undermined by his coaching staff. Good manager but coaches totally lacking in ideas beyond 3rd division football.
  15. I did, quite a few times. To me his methods look staid and basic and I think he has nothing to offer a side looking to move up in the hierarchy.I'd say he's out of his depth with us but it's a personal opinion.
  16. when today??, bibs means not in the starting XI. It's as good a guide as leftback's team news.
  17. Might not even be bad form, might just be that the systems have changed too much or too suddenly.I don't believe that every player can work with every manager or coach. I'd be a whole lot happier if Dean Wilkins was to leave.A player's talent or ability doesn't suddenly change, his physical condition might but in most cases it's just that the manager's style doesn't suit him.
  18. Truth is we're not good enough for either of them and we probably wouldn't pay enough if we were.
  19. You're probably right, 3rd division mentality obviously setting in,noticed that Arsenal's 3rd string keeper got a pay rise to 30K a week the other day, don't need to play that much football on that sort of sum,too busy spending it.
  20. As if we could afford a player like Pires, probably still asking 15/20K a week.We may or may not have bags of cash but spending wise NC makes Lowe look like Santa Claus
  21. Ah yes I forget wur Jimmy, sent off on a stretcher, don't get so many of those. Bet you thought Jimmy Melia was crap though
  22. Don't take what OSM says to heart, he hasn't got a clue about modern football ,Cliff Huxford is his hero:lol:
  23. He won't be part exchanged for anyone, he'll just be shipped out because he apparently can't get on with part of the new management team. This will be a shame, another player carrying the can for Lambert's total uselessness.
  24. I really don't know where you get the idea that he was brought in as an attacking midfielder from. MS is and always has been a defensive midfielder a 6 if you like.He has the technical ability to get forward when asked but it's not his primary role. Lallana, Puncheon,Antonio on the other hand are all attacking midfielders with skill and guile, AOC well not so much yet but he has pace.
  25. well until leftback tells us so it's obviously not true. See the very righteous and politically correct saintslist are on his case now. Traitor is the word being used, blaming him for the Carlisle defeat by posting the team.As I said on Friday you only have to look at the blue bibs on the video to see who's not playing and who is.Noticed it weeks ago.
