I fully share those sentiments. Some of the postings since Wotte's dismissal have been quite shameful. Oldknow is indeed an odd choice as COO. If he has a negative impact on general morale as previously then it will soon become apparent on the pitch as well. Mention of Hone has really cheered me up. Thanks!

A COO usually reports to a CEO. Maybe Oldkonw will report directly to Liebherr but Cowens may be an alternative possibiility.

Like Adams (T), Adams (M) or Kevin (way past his sell-by-date) Keegan?
-
He would likely have done an OK job for us in L1 with some money to spend.

Really? How would you feel if your job description changed and you were expected to hand over the reins to a rugby coach? No doubt you'd be looking for around for the exit as well. Personally I can't forget Prutton's amazing miss at the Hawthorns. And where is he now?

Lowe had him lined up the season before he came to the club. Redknapp was only ever a short term appointment in Lowe's eyes to avoid relegation. Hence Harry's rapid disillusionment and you know the rest.
-
Harry is a good manager when he's treated with respect. The trouble was Lowe thought he knew best and made it clear that Harry was expected to hand over the reins to Woodward after 12 months.

OK I'll buy that. Redknapp as manager and Adams as coach. Should go down well,

Are you serious? What may also make for interesting speculation is who Oldknow has lined up for the CEO's position. Now, who do we know that has a reputation for strong management?
-
"The Times also understands that Tony Adams and Micky Adams have been under consideration by the new team, which includes Andy Oldknow, a former commercial director of the club, who has been appointed chief operating officer". http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=14721 Strong management team at all levels? Yeah right.

"very confident" = done deal

All SSN website says is that they have expressed an interest, no more. "English-based company Gillico have expressed an interest in the cash-strapped League One club"

After what has gone on already the FL may well be entitled to conclude that Pinaccle fail the "fit and proper person" test. They cetainly do in my book at any rate.

Have to agree with you on the 3-3 draw for sheer raw excitement. Kirby was my hero in those days - class player!
-
Or favouritism? I remember Fry saying at the outset that there was one bidder that was very good for the long term outlook of SFC.

Not sure why you feel the need to continually spam this forum with the same message. Surely your time & effort would be better spent walking up and down West Quay with a sandwich board?

Ince is off to MK Dons.

Yes, I thought he was being careful not to give too much away but it certainly looks as though the end game is fast approaching. I had to smile at his comment about having to start from scratch as not being a bad thing. Good luck to him though and hope he's able to pull it off.

THE Football League have hit out at Pinnacle over the supposed reasons for their takeover collapsing. Pinnacle claimed they had agreed to accept a ten-point deduction imposed by the league, which comes into effect at the start of the season. However, they said there were “other issues” that had arisen with them late in the day that they could not overcome. A source has told the Daily Echo Pinnacle were fearful of further sanctions and wanted a guarantee they would not receive any. But the Football League said there was no major issue raised with them other than the right to appeal the ten-point deduction. A league spokesman said Pinnacle had been in receipt of a contract from them for over a week and, to proceed, only needed to provide clarification in regard to funding. “We are very surprised by the comments that other conditions, allegedly imposed by the League, led to the Pinnacle Group withdrawing from their proposed takeover of Southampton Football Club,” said the spokesman. “Throughout our discussions no conditions other than a waiver in regard to sporting sanctions have ever been raised with us as a major issue. “The Pinnacle Group has been in receipt of a contract from the League for over a week now. “To proceed, all it needed to do was to provide clarification in regard to funding and sign the contract.”

Crouch?

It was the sunglasses that gave him away.

What I think is different this time is that we seem to have a group with proven funds, a likely pre-prepared business case and a free run-in up the final furlong. If we have to be known as Southampton Red Bull then it's a price well worth paying IMO.

I think this one will fly given Fry's OS statement today. No real extra evidence, just a feeling that the Swiss will employ a far more professional approach to bring this whole saga to an early and satisfactory conclusion whether it be with -10 or -25 or whatever. And under the circumstances I hope that Wotte is given due recognition for the part he has played in providing some welcome stability despite the flak directed at him by those who have now departed the scene.
