Could be a big squad player for us next season. As you said, attacking wise he looks very gifted. Quick feet, bit of pace, great awareness. He's not afraid to get the ball and drive with it either. Playing in the hole is the best position for him I feel but could play either on the right or left as well and he'd offer us quality in possession. Won't be a starter, but i think he'll make more of an impact next season.

At the end of the day, it is in the best interests of both parties to come to an arrangement. Do you really think that the Liebherrs would let Cortese walk after what he has done for them and the club? If he walks then they have to find someone with the same qualities and someone they trust. However, there is no guarantee that the new person will bring the same level of commitment and same results that Cortese has produced. The chances of the Liebherr's losing money if Cortese leaves is extremely high IMO. Same with Cortese, if he walks, he loses a very good pay packet (possibly only temporarily), his reputation goes down and has to move his kids and his family back to Switzerland / somewhere else and either find a new club / new job. As others have said, if it ain't broke, DON'T FIX IT!

Am I worried? Of course. Will he leave? No chance. He will do everything he can to see the job through here IMO. He's put his reputation on the line with the big decisions he's made. Overall, I think it's a ploy from Cortese to keep control and get more funds and show what he means to the fans. I know some can't stand him but 98% of Saints fans will be gutted to see him go.

You can see defenders have worked him out and know his game. Top strikers will find a way to best this and get an advantage but Rickie just doesn't look like doing that. Holt suffered the same end of last season and this season. Same with Cisse. We need a 15+ goal striker to compliment Rickie next season and give the lad a rest when he needs it as he has looked knackered of late. People forget he will be 32 at the end of next season.

This is the most promising / important point out of all of them. This indicates to me that we will see signings happening early on in the summer and we learnt from this pre season that we can't wait until the final few days as I feel we had a couple of signings lined up but didn't have the time to do them. Preparation is key for next season.
