Pre season tour of Spain might be in the offing now with MP in charge!

Players who impressed you in the lower leagues who haven't progressed.
itchen_dan replied to Colinjb's topic in The Saints
George Boyd. Always linked with bigger clubs. Excels for Peterborough and then struggles to impress wherever he goes on loan. Ends up back at Peterborough and back at square one. Currently on loan at Hull but I'll put money on him being at high level league 1 or low level Championship team at the start of next season. -
Quality!

According to the Mirror, Poch is looking at getting Granero from QPR for next season. Thoughts? Would be a good signing in my opinion. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/transfers-southampton-eye-qprs-esteban-1835944?

Hmmm. He's at Cagliari, the same as a certain Davide Astori. Double deal perhaps?

If you could get one play in now who would it be? Realistic options
itchen_dan replied to Ally Biggs's topic in The Saints
Coutinho. Been top drawer for Liverpool. -
Gonna be a good game I think. Going on recent form, we should beat them. Since their cup win, they've been pretty poor going by their standards and we've gone the opposite way and been different class at times. [

We tried that at West Ham this season and got torn apart with Yoshida left back. Keep it as is. Make them worry about us rather than us worrying about them.
-
Agreed. Utter to55ser. Glad he's potentially cost them a play off place. Cannot stand him.
-
What game is it? I can take a look and see if there is one out there.

Realistic target placing next season - current squad?
itchen_dan replied to NickG's topic in The Saints
Why could we not be top 6? Look at what Newcastle did last season? Virtually in top 4 for entire season and then fell away due to injuries and suspensions. West Brom this year, had an absolute blinding start, fell away, built it up again and slipping away from top 6 again. Swansea, solid, effective, attractive, cup win under their belts and plodding away in top 8-10 without spending much. Even Everton are up there who don't have a pot to **** in when it comes to transfer windows. There is absolutely NOTHING to say that without some big spending, that we cannot easily challenge the top 6 of the Premier League. Even Villa did it a few years back under Martin O'Neill who isnt exactly the best manager. -
Realistic target placing next season - current squad?
itchen_dan replied to NickG's topic in The Saints
Top 10 would be the target WITH THE CURRENT SQUAD based on the second half of this seasons performance.. However, I can really see us spending £50m-£60m in the summer on some real quality for a top 6 finish. Honestly. -
Here is what the table would look like if his predictions were correct.

@SouthamptonFC: Artur Boruc came off at half time after suffering dizziness during today's interval, Mauricio Pochettino confirms. #saintsfc
-
No he didn't. He played wide left. Guly played through the middle.
-
Ill be honest, I was unsure when we signed him as he didn't really stand out for me whenever I've seen him play for Palace including when we played them last season. Lallana and Lambert made him look bang average at times but my god has he impressed me this year. As you said, Chelsea can poke it.
-
As per title. According to the Mirror. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/chelsea-transfer-news-blues-line-1781261 I think we all know what NC would do with that offer. Think he's been signing of the season. Consistently consistent and is one hell of a prospect. Would be foolish to let him leave.

From what I gather is that the running track WILL stay and seating will be put on it that can be removed within a few days for athletics events. Pretty clever. EDIT: On SS website "The stadium itself will have retractable seats, allowing the 2017 World Athletics Championships to take place as planned."

Saints make 8 million bid for Athletico's Adrian Lopez
itchen_dan replied to Wiggles31's topic in The Saints
Also in the Daily Star apparently. I'll be honest, I've heard the name before but don't know much about him. Then again if he's being linked with clubs such as Liverpool and Spurs for £8m, he must be pretty decent.
