  1. Pleased to see the club have taken notice and provided ST holders with a glimmer of an understanding of what they’re buying into. I welcome Hughes appointment and hope he is given the support to sign 3-4 top players that will be vital to the improved season we are all expecting.
  2. Can't wait to see us sign one of their star players from the depths of serie 4...hopefully will be as good as Corrillo. It's all looking peaches for Lesley's next little earner.
  3. It doesn’t amaze me that Hughes has not been announced yet, but what does is that the club expects ST sales while no manager is in place and the squad is not confirmed. Can you imagine going to West Quay and at the doors there are guys ready to take £700 from you - “you can come in and look around, although ultimately we can’t guarantee we’ve got anything that you want...but have fun!”.
  4. The failings of the footballing side of the business have already been said and for that reason, a “just stay” is not appropriate in the slightest. In many other business arena’s if a Board member or Director fails so spectacularly, they will be ‘asked’ to leave immediately...no question of a reduced role which would display top management weakness of the highest order. So that leaves us with simply go and this seems the most appropriate course of action. Of course that’s not what will happen, because Les has ingratiated himself with Kat and so with the Goa family. Kruger has all but said Les will persist and so this poll is somewhat mute. However, as previously said, if Les were to go, what are the odds of the club screwing up the appointment of a replacement? Sometimes it’s better the devil you know?
  5. Thought generally we played well again today against an excellent team who were only in second gear. McCarthy had another great game. Redmond had another very poor game. What next? Appoint Hughes ASAP. Then lose Redmond, Boufal, Long, Davis, Targett, Clasie, Carillio, Bednarek, Forster. Then sign at first team level a new GK, CB, CM, ACM, Striker. When watching back the game on Sky, I couldn’t see Les with Ralph etc...has he gone already? If not he needs to fook off very quickly.
  6. We will lose today against probably the best team ever to grace the Premiership. The massive question is by how many goals? Prediction 1-4.
  7. Hughes has galvanised the squad, dealt properly with poor attitude players, tactically used the players to the best advantage and almost saved us from what seemed a nailed on relegation by the skin of our teeth. He seems a great fit in terms of his past association with the club. Get a result today and there will be a big outpouring of emotional attachment from the Saint Mary’s faithful. Sometimes it’s all about the DECENT decision and in this case my feeling is, that would be to give Hughes a three deal with the objective to clean up the squad and achieve a top 10 finish.
  8. Reduced to a misty eyed wreck watching the stream in a Midlands hotel room. Make no mistake this was another brilliant Hughes tactical victory - that man knows how to best utilise the resources at his disposal however weak. Just think what he could do with a summer transfer window and pre-season, not to mention the great team spirit he’s clearly engendered in the squad already. But watch Les fook it up....again. We’ll also to the Saints supporters at the Liberty...just fantastic.
  9. Our back three are so flaky that we cannot lose Hojberg or Romeu from CDM. That means Redmond and Tadic need to step up to the plate much more and play the match of their lives. Austin just needs to actually try hitting the target but not the Keeper. They are playing like the home team...against Everton WE played like the home team, so the question is, can Hughes now inspire them to play without fear? Unfortunately I can’t see where the goal(s) are coming from to win this game. And if they score first, we will lose.
  10. Have felt OK until today, largely because I’ve been convinced we had no hope of staying up, but here we are...fate in our hands and just this win to stay up. Now I’m feeling very, very nervous...excited at the prospect of Saints doing us proud, but equally petrified that something terrible will go wrong and we’ll be humiliated in defeat. Today of all days, we need to dominate the game, not give them an inch and stuff ‘em. COYFR!!!
  11. Gutted, but if Bertrand had buried that ball into row ZZ we’d have won...simple. Overall great team performance again, but Everton were rank.
  12. Swansea will beat Stoke, may even get a result against Bompey (but probably not). So we need to go for two wins to really stand a chance. Can’t see us getting more than a point today and probably nothing. I still think there’s more chance of us going down than not.
  13. I will be delighted with a draw, but ecstatic with a win as this will put huge pressure on other teams around us. Unfortunately though it is extremely likely we will lose and our relegation rivals will pick up points. Nothing is in the bag yet. Nothing.
  14. This is the epitome of a must not lose game if ever there was one. Need to pack midfield so expect to see Austin up top on his own again and Tadic supporting in some way. Trouble is, Everton are a team that need to high pressed to reduce the pressure on our flaky defence and that could be difficult. If we get a draw it will be good day...lose and it’s goodbye Prem.
  15. Four points minimum might be enough, however there are likely to be a number of surprise results from unlikely candidates over the last 3 games. We need to focus purely on what we do...nothing we can do about the others and nothing is certain. Lose to Everton and I think it’s over IMHO.
  16. Brilliant win and atmosphere. Players seemed to care. I actually enjoyed a game.
  17. Hughes has proved he can work with a limited squad and get a result. So yes for me, whatever league we're in. Players to lose are Redmond, Carillo, Davis. Regarding CBs it depends if we go down...go down we keep what we have...stay up we need to replace Hoedt, Bednarek or Stephens...or possibly even 2 of those 3.
  18. Very little confidence we win. I suspect a goal from them on the counter as we try to push for the win. I would love us to turn in a huge performance and a big score...say 4-2.
  19. No use looking back now...it's do or die. Personally I don't think we've got the players to pull it off. At best a draw. There's a reason why they are above us in the table don't forget.
  20. 3-0 Chelski. We might muster 1 or 2 shots on target if we’re lucky, but nothing of any substance or danger. Another detecting defeat for an already demoralised squad.
  21. The Championship = the lower half of the Prem in terms of quality generally and we’ve been playing like a lower Championship team for two years. This is because we’ve packed out the squad with Championship/L1 quality players. So to get out of the Championship we will need a squad that collectively is better than lower half Prem (as we did with Adkins squad). It will be a very risky summer in terms of ins and outs and one I foresee Reed and Co getting horribly wrong.
  22. I like the cut of this lads jib. He gives everything on the pitch and has an admirable care about the job he’s employed to do with the employer he’s contracted to. If he stays (i.e. Reed doesn’t sell him in panic) he will stand out in the Championship.
  23. You lost me at 'win'. I'll eat my pants if we beat Chelski Sunday and then go on to beat Utd in the final. I'm am laughing uncontrollably as I write this at the sheer naivety thinking we'll win the cup.
  24. Good analysis...that’s how I saw it too. Sometimes fans forget that players are given strict instructions to follow to deliver a game plan...in this case don’t lose. I will say however that I wonder whether having more attacking intent would have been a bad thing even if it did end in a loss. Providing it was not a heavy loss would it have made a difference? Is a point good enough when you’re desperate for three? Not sure.
  25. Wouldn’t have a problem with Hughes staying, but doubt it will happen. It’s Reed I want out...he’s responsible for the mess we’re in through awful transfer business and managerial appointments. The squad we’ve been putting out is substandard...been saying for months...too many Championship/L1 level players.
