Rumours of Saints player being arrested after trouble?
Saint Fan CaM replied to Tractor_Saint's topic in The Saints
No media interest whatsoever? I'll wait on official news before making a judgement. -
If this "new start" is just about changing a few MODS and taking away the little difference between Full Members and Registered Users, then I want a full refund of £5 and I'll just be a registered user then which would suit me fine TBF.

Although I post on here a fair bit, I tend not to every day (although I might read posts) as there's not always anything worth commenting about. The threads are not exactly that entertaining now as subjects have mostly been done to death - probably one reason why some resort to abuse to fill their time. I also get the feeling that being a Mod brings with it risk of significant abuse and threat from the mindless few. I seem to remember all kinds of threats happening to people on the old forum with houses being 'visited'. So it's a no thanks from me too. In terms of how to improve the forum, I would suggest the following.... a. If you pay £5 or whatever to become a 'full member' then that seems to imply a membership to a club. Most clubs I know restrict visitors to the club to members only and their GUESTS. Guests have limited rights. So I would suggest that the main forum is limited to full members only who can invite a guest or two (ratified by MODS), however the guests can only post once/day on each thread. Also, if a guest gets reported for abuse by a full member then a MOD can ban the guest indefinately AND ban the member who invited them in for a period of say one week. This information would be publicly displayed to name and shame. b. MODs should have a charter or set of rules by which they STRICTLY operate, however some discretion can be applied to banning by needing a majority decision by 3 or 5 MODs. c. Full members can opt to put Guests on ignore, but cannot do the same for other full members. Guests cannot put people on ignore. We are supposedly on the same side supporting a great football club. There will be differences of opinion - great - but as long as there's no abuse everyone should be entitled to have their opinions seen by every other user without fear of abuse or indeed not being seen. d. It might be an idea to award a 'gold star' or whatever on a weekly or monthly basis to the Full Member who provides a thread with the most posts to it - the idea being that the thread with the most posts is clearly the most interesting for whatever reason. There could be a public 'leaderboard' of Full Members holding the most 'gold stars'. Win-win because it encourages more interesting threads and also provides a little more light-hearted entertainment to the 'club'. e. If Full Members were given the opportunity to meet face to face occassionally there would be far less abuse between these people. Example of how to achieve this? Even though I'm 51, I would love to play some recreational 7-a-side footie (time permitting) and a chance to chat Saints stuff over a pint afterwards would be a bonus too. The forum games seemed a good idea, but if you're not available it's a one off event that you miss, plus a full on game on a full sized pitch might be too much for some of us older chaps. This is just one idea to get people together and remove the animosity that sometimes exists? f. Perhaps Full Members should be prepared to reveal their names on their profile, but ONLY other Full Members should be able to see this info. Knowing someone by their first name rather than a username would disuade abuse IMO. Hey, these are just a few ideas, but there needs to be clear ground between being a Full Member and a Registered User or Guest. Hope the forum gets better and that the 'fresh start' works, because I was seriously thinking of giving up the membership too.

Good result that we thoroughly deserved to win. Lallana MOTM for me as he made such an impact coming back into the side and (in his words) only 70% match fit too! The pens were stonewall pens, plus we could easily have gone 2-0 up when Puncheon - completely through one on one with keeper - was belatedly pulled back by the ref to give US a freekick!!! They may not be our proper rivals, but it sure felt good to win at SMS again.

OMG...shocking. Really shocking. I'm shocked. lol

Don't care which method - just want at least top 8 Championship side that wins more games at home than loses. And consistency of a decent manager.

Chaplow - signed a 2 and a half year deal - OFFICIAL

Yep - pretty pleased with that....a win-win scenario. I hope he has some affection left for the club and gets on well with the likes of Lallana etc. so he settles quickly as it sounds like he'll be getting involved fairly quickly if he proves his fitness. -
Bournemouth chairman "not welcome" directors box (sigh)

Oh dear - this petty action is just going to serve up extra bragging for the Cherries when they win Saturday...cringeworthy. -
Completely agree with this analysis unfortunately. For some reason - perhaps injury - Lambert is nowhere near the potent force he was last season. While the defence has been supposedly strengthened, this is undermined by disruption to the squad further up the pitch. I maintain that the quality of the front 6 players is not just about their individual characteristics, but about how well they all work together. For example to be promotion candidates, at least 4 of those 6 must be able to work the ball quickly and move up the pitch as one unit. We are just not doing this - 9/10 of our attacks are played at pedestrian pace allowing 11 players to get behind the ball. Then, when we lose the ball, do we put 11 men behind the ball? NO! When the opposition break on us, a good few of our team are gasping and not even trying to get back to defend. Adkins may be a good manager, but he has a huge job to do to turn this team around. Right here right now I am not convinced the mix of players in the squad have what it takes, despite their supposed individual strengths. I hope I'm wrong, but this is looking like a failed season and I am fearful of the outcome of the review of NA's results come Xmas, as I think NC will be making a big decision regarding continuity of management versus expected season performance.
-
I think the question should be : "Do we need extra players?". If the answer is no, then don't expect us to spend money and don't think that that, in itself, means we're skint.
-
I did hear NC is studying for his badges. Personally I think it's rubbish as it was third-hand from a connection in the club, so don't shoot the messenger.
-
Don't be so ready to jump down someone's throat people - my comment was not negative...it was intended to make a distinction between then and the more sterile game now. The clue was in the "great memories" comment!!!
-
Surprised nobody has mentioned the abuse the Skates will be able to throw if the Cherries beat us, which I think there is a very good chance of them doing such is their form right now. So, the upshot is I do care about this game a bit more than other games and I want us to tonk them frankly.
-
PMSL!!! Pulis was thought to be suffering from footballers brain, but then a 2nd opinion ruled that out categorically meaning another 4 months hiding under the physio's table.
-
Well it worked on Saturday right?! The old reverse hoodoo occasionally seems to work wonders, so here's hoping. (;
-
Great memories...but that was then and this is now.
-
We will lose this match 4-1.

Mmm, to stretch the debate just a little, I was wondering how NA will play things when Lallana gets back to full fitness (in the meantime it looks like he'll be a super-sub). Holmes looks like he could still be in with a shout if he keeps working hard...Puncheon appears to have a starting place whatever. Chambo has done everything right during this spell of regular starts. Nobody would leave out Lallana when he's 100%. So who gets dropped in the 2 from 4 dilemna? Holmes will not get 1st call although I think he's as good if not better than Puncheon. Chambo needs to be protected, so I can see him dropping to the bench. It will be Puncheon and Lallana again as Benjii above said.

I think both our seasons have stuttered but for completely different reasons. For us it's been a poor close season and the untimely loss of a Manager, but the team has held together and it's just a matter of time before we show our quality again. For you lot I'm afraid coming down into this league will be a big shock to some players - it's not the walk-over many of your fans would think it would be and the dreadful support shown at the game (more boos than applause) will only accentuate the fact. I fancy your chances a lot less than ours in terms of sorting out the rot to be perfectly honest.
-
The league has not really started to open up yet and Brighton being at the top just goes to show this. By Xmas we'll be in the play-offs - I am starting to believe again. (But we will lose at Yeovil!)...

Sheffield Wednesday 0-1 Saints - Post-match reaction thread
Saint Fan CaM replied to stevegrant's topic in The Saints
I think it's a combination of fitness and finding a way to fit in with the new Managers system. I think Pardew almost built the team and tactics around Lambo - who wouldn't given his record? So now he needs to find himself again - it will come, but it's a case of how long. Lucky for us, NA's game seems to suit Barney and Lallana. Great result - I really thought we would be taken apart a little bit today, but there appears to be a good spirit growing in the camp and that can only be attributed to NA. Interesting that we got a win and a clean sheet without Fonte in the team - switching things around when players are not delivering once again seems to be shown to be the right course of action. -

This could be Barneys year now Lambert has dropped away. Good delivery and well taken goal.
