Nicola Cortese - Is he worth £1.576m per annum?
Tom28 replied to Dibden Purlieu Saint's topic in The Saints
It works out at about £30k per week. I suspect more than or on a par with our top playing squad earners. When you consider it like that, it seems reasonable. -
He's not 6'1". When he hasn't been playing, he is often watching in block A with the other youth teamers and I was stood next to him in a queue for a coffee and he's a good couple of inches shorter than me and I'm 6'0".

Lallana Voted 2nd Best Young Player By Premier Managers
Tom28 replied to Gemmel's topic in The Saints
Turkish's head is exploding somewhere right now. -
Can't be arsed to read through 7 pages of what I can only assume is bull****. Lallana is awesome. Premier League quality. He's exactly what the club is about and wants to be about. One of the first names on the team sheet when fit. End of. Anyone who disagrees can suck my chubby one.

Leave Lambert out? Mental. Absolutely mental. I hate this forum. The morons on it aggravate me.

Why is Schneiderlin getting more press exposure from the club these days??
Tom28 replied to pangy's topic in The Saints
The guy is just class. Class footballer, speak very well, mature. Never hear stories about him out in bars late at night getting drunk. Just seems like a total pro and one of the best role models for the academy players coming through IMO. People have mentioned £20m for him; I was thinking that too. But on reflection, there is no amount of money we should accept for him. He embodies everything the club is about now and wants to be about going forwards. -
He's recovering from a knock he picked up in pre-season.

2016/2017... Gazzaniga Clyne Stephens Yoshida Shaw Cork Schneiderlin Rowe JW-P Lallana Rodriguez Subs: Cropper, Targett, Forren, Chambers, Sinclair, Ramirez, Seager,
-
This, except I would have Hooiveld on the bench rather than Fox. If Shaw gets injured, we have the option of Clyne at left back with Cork at right back, or Yoshida at full back. If Clyne gets injured, again you have the option of Cork/Yoshida at right back. Either scenario, you don't need (or want) Fox. It's not that I think Fox is a bad player, he's been generally quite good for us, but it's that when he is on the pitch, bad things happen.

Of course you do, you bore.

And one other thing, this idea of Ramirez not fitting into the way MP plays...nonsense. Anyone who watched the first half against Everton knows that he can. But even if he couldn't, the way MP wants us to play isn't going to work everytime, we'll need a plan B and Ramirez can offer something different.
-
I don't know why but some of our fans seem to have this mindset that we must have a starting XI and that anyone that doesn't fit into that can be considered surplus to requirements. When we kicked off yesterday, I had this sense of calm and reassurance purely as a result of having someone with the ability of Lallana on the bench. If we add Ramirez to that, Fonte, Guly then it can only be a positive thing. Long season, players will come in and out of the starting XI for various reasons. Ramirez has the same role to play as everyone else in that squad.
-
He's not though.
-
Saw Fonte in Waitrose in Romsey the other day and he was walking around fine, without any crutches or strapping, so I doubt he can be too far away. Would be nice to have him back in for this one.
-
There is another season, but I wouldn't be surprised if we had a new shirt sponsor next season anyway.
-
There really are some prize ****s on here. Forget what we paid; does having Gaston in the matchday squad make us stronger than not having him in the matchday squad? If you answer 'No' to that question, then you're a clueless ****wit. FWIW, I think he will become a top top player in the PL.
-
Tactically spot on in open play. Set piece tactics are woeful I'm afraid. No defender on the post cost us twice today. And zonal marking just doesn't work.
-
Superb performance. Woeful defending from set pieces is costing us. This new zonal marking just isn't working. And no men on the posts. Ridiculous. Two men on the posts at corners and Wigan wouldn't have scored today. That is a fact.

Can see Forren starting, not after what MP said in the press conference. Ferguson spoke to Adkins the day before he was sacked apparently to talk about Adkins' situation...Adkins definitely knew he was on his way out on the Thursday then. "Regarding Adkins, the United boss added: "I spoke to him the day before he was sacked. He phoned me about his situation there. I mean I can't understand these things. I think their form had picked up. Was it two defeats in 12 games? That's not bad for a team at the bottom of the league."
-
I mean live in the stadium. Well in one of your recent posts you said "he's had one good game in 14 months" to which I replied that he's been one of our best players in the last couple of months.
-
I sense this is sarcastic and a dig at me.... Out of interest, how many live games have you watched in the last 2 months?
-
Who really cares? If you care about this, you have too much time on your hands.

Do we need a Campaign for red and white stripes and black shorts
Tom28 replied to Miltonroader07's topic in The Saints
No. Love the red kit. Next question. -
Perhaps you haven't been watching the last couple of months, but he's been one of our best players. One good game in 14 months? Go have a lie down.

If you were paying attention on Monday, you would know that Ramirez isn't a luxury player. He put in a proper shift. I get the impression that MP won't stand for anyone to be lazy, regardless of technical ability.
