  1. Not convinced about Ramirez? I know he tired second half, but he was outstanding first half. Not sure if that didn't come across on the telly but in the ground he was superb and ran the show in the first half. And I've been one of his biggest critics. It's no coincidence that we were poor second half when Ramirez wasn't in the game.
  2. Think this will be a 4-4-2 to match Everton. Boruc Clyne Yoshida Jos Shaw Puncheon Cork Schneiderlin Guly Rodriguez Lambert Subs: Davis, Forren, Fox, Davis, Chaplow, Ramirez, Lee
  3. Great goal but let's not over do it by claiming Gastons part in it was anything other than a mis-control!
  4. Maybe, but if he gets offered a great deal, would he really turn that down to play two fixtures (which is all it will be)? This is his chance to come back to the PL, his chance to seriously be in consideration for England No. 1 jersey. You sure he would reject that to play in one CL fixture against Juve? Celtic will be knocked out at that stage anyway. If its a choice between paying £5m for Butland, who has looked unconvincing at best at Championship level this season, or £8-10m for Forster, it's a no-brainer for me.
  5. I'd genuinely be very happy if we only signed one player this window, as long as it is Fraser Forster. Would become our keeper for the next 10 years if we could keep hold of him. Solid as a rock. Obviously I'd take Astori as well if the money was there, plus a winger, maybe Scott Sinclair on loan.
  6. Would say Clyne has been out best buy but Yoshida has been superb lately.
  7. -----------Boruc----------- Clyne-Fonte-Yoshida-Shaw -Cork-Schneiderlin-Davis ---------Puncheon-------- --Lambert---Rodriquez-- Subs: Gazza, Hooiveld, Richardson, JWP, Guly, Ramirez, Mayuka
  8. Well I'm led to believe that a deal is close to extend his contract and we should hear something soon.
  9. -------------Gazzaniga------------- Clyne-----Fonte-----Maya-----Shaw -------Cork------Schneiderlin------- Puncheon--------------------Reeves* ------------Ramirez---------------- ------------Lambert---------------- Subs: Davis, Hoiiveld, JWP, Davis, Guly, JRod, Mayuka * Put himself in the shop window in the U21 game last night and he's probably the only round peg/round hole we have. All the other options are square pegs.
  10. Seriously, do one. If you feel insulted by that, you really are a pathetic human being.
  11. Think they've gone to Malta.
  12. Every result wrong. Shows you know nowt.
  13. Stuart Pearce was at the game today, and Clyne and Shaw could both find themselves in the next u21 squad after the way they played today.
  14. Norwich will be tough to break down. They are good defensively. I can see this being 0-0, or even 0-1 if we get too ambitious and leave ourselves open at the back. I'd take a point tonight, keep the unbeaten run going.
  15. I took from the interview that Gaston would play but Cork may only make the bench. So it'll be something like the following I think: ---------------Boruc---------------- Clyne-----Fonte-----Maya------Fox- ------Schneiderlin----Davis---------- --------------Ramirez--------------- Lallana--------------------Rodriguez --------------Lambert--------------- Subs: Davis, Hooiveld, Cork, JWP, Puncheon, Mayuka, Lee

    Best team?

I've liked Davis too, but yesterday he was poor. He did give the ball away a lot, and to be honest, he and Schneiderlin really haven't hit it off and formed a good partnership. Huddlestone and Sandro were far superior as a pairing than Schneiderlin and Davis, and I think Cork will be back in place of Davis when he is fit. My best team would be the following: Gazzaniga Clyne Fonte Yoshida Reeves Schneiderlin Lallana Cork Ramirez Lambert Lee Subs: Davis, Fox, Hooiveld, Davis, Rodriguez, Mayuka, Puncheon Rationale: Haven't seen anything from Boruc that warrants his selection over Gazzaniga. There seem to be some on here scapegoating Boruc - that's not my agenda at all. I was just more impressed with Gazzaniga. Boruc's kicking was woeful yesterday (he can hardly reach half-way) and he looked less than comfortable coming for that early cross. Reeves for Fox is less about Reeves, than about Fox being a massive weak link. Granted, Fox definitely gives us a threat from set-pieces, but for every goal he may create from a set piece, he costs us 3 or 4 with his poor positioning and lack of pace. Schneiderlin and Cork is our best midfield duo and with Lallana playing as part of a midfield three, that really gives us some composure in the middle which was seriously lacking until Lallana moved more central. Ramirez plays, simple. Lambert plays too...but someone in the coaching staff has to drum it into him that he cannot be the one delivering crosses all game long. He needs to be on the end of them. And Tadanari Lee gives us pace, work rate and an attacking threat up top. On the bench, Mayuka stretched the game for us yesterday but apart from one dribble and cross to Lambert, and one excellent piece of tracking back and defending, his contribution was pretty minimal. I just think he offers us more impact from the bench than he would starting but frankly, I can't say that with any certainty until he actually starts a game. Fox, as I've said, is a threat from set pieces and provides full back cover from the bench. Hooiveld is there because we have no one else besides Seaborne, and we really dont want to go there. Davis gets a spot ahead of JWP because of his experience - there's really not much to choose between them though. Rodriguez has been getting beter and actually looked ok wide left towards the end of the game yesterday but I'm still not convinced he's anything other than a traditional centre forward, and at the moment, Lambert is still my preference. And Puncheon gets the last spot on the bench purely because I think he's technically better than Guly.
  18. I'm really beginning to develop a deep-rooted hatred for a lot of you on this forum. Seriously, STFU.
  19. If only I was a mod. I would close down about 90% of the threads started on here. It would be brilliant.
  20. Ok, so it will happen in three weeks time....but what if we beat Spurs, West Brom and Swansea? This is complete trash journalism. Close the thread.
  21. Positives: Lallana has matured into a fine player and captain and is clearly Premier League class Schneiderlin has been a complete revelation, player of the season I would say so far Ward-Prowse is going to be a hell of a player in 2-3 years time Steven Davis looks like a great signing - when Cork comes back, our centre midfield area looks very strong for years to come Puncheon looks like he is really bought in and playing well Clyne is probably our best signing so far (Gaston has hardly played) - he has been our best defender and also one of our best attacking threats Lambert is just a classy footballer - good enough for any league Rodriguez is our Lambert in waiting and can help lighten the load this season Once the goalkeeping position is settled, I actually think we have a very solid group We have Gaston, Cork, and Lee all to come into the side. Negatives: Defence hasn't been good enough. I think Hooiveld and Fonte are better than they are showing, and can be decent backups, but we need two starting centre backs Left back is looking very weak. Fox is a decent backup at PL level but not a regular starter. We need depth at the position. Shaw has showed in the U21 games that he looks a real threat going forward but he's looked pretty dodgy at the back. Wing-forward position looks weak - we want to play 4-3-3 which means two wide front players. We have players that can play there but it looks to be square pegs in round holes. Puncheon fits that position perfectly and to some degree so does Lallana, but beyond that we're pretty thin. Rodriguez has proven he cant play wide left; Mayuka hasn't looked comfortable wide right; Guly doesn't look comfortable at this level full stop. We need another player comfortable playing in the wide positions of the front three.
  22. He is our best player. Therefore he has no price. Simple. I think one or two of the big clubs will be sniffing around though next summer.

    Rafa benitez

Don't want Benitez, Redknapp, Strachan or anyone else. I like Nigel Adkins; he's young, hungry, wants to learn, will learn, he's innovative...he embodies everything about what our club wants to be. We've lost four games in a row, and his win percentage for us is still 59%. We'll be fine, and better than that, I think we'll prosper in the Premier League over the next few years. That said, if Pep Guardiola was available and willing... No. No, I want Adkins.
