At the south bound Winchester service station on the M3 this morning, there was a a Lamborghini Gallardo, number plate V4 SSE being driven by Darius Vassell. I didn't speak to him, he was getting in his car and driving away as I was filling up across the forecourt. There may be hundreds of reasons why he was there....just sharing what I saw. Anyone else on here see him/speak to him?? Gallardo's are so 2006..... Same could be said of Darius Vassell... :-)

If Fergie and Pardew are mates, I'd want to see Tom Cleverley on loan in a Saints shirt. He'd bang 20 goals in from midfield in League One. He's a realistic shout having been on loan to Watford last year.

Just got texts back from two Arsenal mates asking for info on Frimpong. They both said words to the effect of he'll be our best player this season if we get him, he's looking like a really class player, but neither thought he'd drop to League One.

This does not bother me. I support the club, always have and always will. Quite why there needs to be a Supporters Trust I will never understand. Just go along and watch your team and support them. If you want to engage in some friendly banter and debate, pop onto SWF every now and then. But thats it. People like Nick Illingsworth are troublesome busy-bodies, have too much time on their hands and can **** right off. Same goes for those that run the Echo. Well done Saints.

I think everyone just needs to chill. We have a 'team' that is good enough to win the league. No doubt whatsoever about that. We also have decent cover in a few positions (Connolly/Barnard; Martin/Jaidi/Seaborne; Harding/Dickson). You are right, we need to fill in some depth gaps but I see no point in filling those gaps with players that arent going to be good enough in the long run. We've done that before, and the result was the dead wood clear out this summer. I suspect that Pardew probably has missed out on some targets; whilst we are an attractive club to join with plenty of money, we are still in League 1 which will put off a lot of players. If he has missed out on his preferred targets, it doesnt mean he should panic buy to just fill depth gaps. Instead he would be far better off getting players in for the short term in the loan market to supplement what is already a very good starting eleven in this league. The loan market won't really get going until later in the pre-season when clubs begin to review who is and isn't going to be required for the season ahead. My expectation is that we'll see maybe 1 more permanent signing before the start of the season, and maybe 3/4 season or half season loans to provide the backup that alpine is fretting over.

Not odd. Papa Waigo left so its vacant, and the date for new squad number submissions is a month away.

I'd expect to see one of Wayne Thomas or Graeme Murty back with us before the start of the season as cover at right back.

He's a decent League One keeper. His shot stopping is Premier League class; his kicking is League 1/2 class, and his ability on crosses is Wessex league standard.

This. Also, where is all this love for Simeon Jackson coming from? The lad is 5ft8 - he's definitely not a backup for Rickie. And he's had one good half season for Gillingham, who got relegated by the way. 35 goals in 101 games (quote Wikipedia) in tier 3/4 of English football doesn't sound like the record of someone who could carry us up through the leagues to the Premiership.
