  1. Although we only play Tranmere in the next week, its a huge week for us in terms of other fixtures: Saturday: Gillingham v Huddersfield (Gillingham have a good home record; don't concede many (9 in 17 games) Swindon v Bristol Rovers (Bristol have won 2 in a row and could hold them) Walsall v Millwall (Walsall top half of the table side and will want to respond to the 5-1 drubbing we gave them) Tuesday: Carlisle v Millwall MK Dons v Swindon And then on the Saturday we have Leeds, Huddersfield are at home to Norwich and Millwall are at home to Charlton. Not sure what my point is, except that the sides above us we are competing against for the 6th playoff spot have some tough games in the next fortnight and IF we keep winning, that 14 point gap is going to start closing up very quickly.
  2. The 11 that played Saturday, plus Connolly, Thomas, Murty, and Bart. Thats it. I have doubts about whether Morgan and Hammond could run a game in the Championship. The likes of Gillett, James, Seaborne, Antonio, Waigo, Holmes, Mills, Perry could be part of a mediocre Championship squad but should never get near the first XI if we have serious ambitions.
  3. Or did you attend the Peter Storrie School of Running Football Clubs?
  4. £30k a week? In League 1? You are living in a dreamworld. You're not related to Karl Pilkington are you?
  5. Davis, Semi, Fonte, Jaidi, Harding, Antonio, Hammond, Puncheon, Lallana, Barnard, Lambert Subs: Bart, Thomas, Mills, Holmes, Wotton, Gillett, Waigo. Assuming Schneiderlin, Connolly and James all injured still as Pardew said after Tuesday. By the way, with Morgan out for a while, get a loan in as cover. Yoann Folly has just gone out on loan from Plymouth for a month to D&R. Could have done a job for us.
  6. Didnt Jaidi play Tuesday, Saturday earlier in the season? Thats a genuine question because I cant be bothered to check, but I seem to remember he did. If he can hack it, then I would definitely pair him with Fonte everytime, regardless of opposition, because we have shown a propensity to conceded goals against any opposition. Yesterday has to be our strongest 11. Whether Connolly is fit or not, Barnard scored twice yesterday and his all round play was excellent and he deserves to keep his place. Pards said before yesterdays game that he may make changes for Tuesday; it depends if the team he selects for Norwich go out and win. He's basically saying to them; 'you win and the team will be unchanged'. That starting eleven with the option of Holmes, Papa, Antonio and Connolly from the bench if we need to chase a goal is awesome.
  7. Get. The. ****. In.
  8. Davis Otsemobor Jaidi Fonte Harding Lallana Hammond Schneiderlin Puncheon Lambert Barnard Subs: Bart, Mills, Seaborne, James, Holmes, Antonio, Waigo Thomas misses out on a place on the bench because James can play right back and centre midfield. I think this is a very solid team that will allow us to bring on Antonio and Waigo at the end and steal a win.
  9. Or Managers and Coaches live and die by the success of their signings and dropping one of their January signings now would heap additional pressure on Pardew and the team following Cortese's recent comments.
  10. Care to elaborate on why you think this is garbage? Have you actually seen him play? I fail to believe that anyone at either the Millwall, Brentford or Exeter games could disagree with what I've said. He played ok at home to Stockport but lets face it, he was hardly tested. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fyYcGn4iqAg Just play this from 3 minutes 42 onwards - look at Seaborne get outmuscled and beaten in the air for what must've been the 10th time that afternoon. At Brentford, there were multiple sliced clearances, and some really random headers that definitely did not go where they were intended. At Exeter he got caught in possession 2 or 3 times where he couldn't use his right foot and Exeter knew that. And he was caught out of position at least twice, and we should have been punished. He might come good, with more games. But we don't have time to be bedding players in. We need our best back four and, frankly, he's not part of it at the moment.
  11. Are you kidding? How many times have you seen him play? Ive seen him away at Millwall, Brentford and Exeter and at home against Stockport which I think are all the games he has played, and frankly, he's a liability. He's no nonsence, granted, but he's horribly one footed which puts him under pressure a lot, he has a 50p head and the ball can literally go anywhere off it, and for a big guy, he loses far too many aerial battles than he should. Millwall was especially bad for that - their equaliser came from him not dealing with a long ball, but I promise you that wasn't the only time that happened that day. I don't like being critical of players, especially new signings, but at the moment, he's just not up to it and I really hope he's not in the team on Saturday.
  12. Definitely. Would tear up league one.
  13. Really hope this is the line up. Pardew might be tempted to go 4-5-1 and leave out Waigo or Antonio for Wotton or James to play the holding role but I think its a cup tie, and the best chance we've got of beating them is now, at home, so lets go for it. With a bench of Bart, James, Mills, Holmes, Wotton, Barnard and Connolly, if rumours are true he's fit again, I think that gives us enough options from the bench if we need to change things. I'm not sure I'll be able to sleep tonight.
  14. Davis Otsemobor Fonte Seaborne Harding Antonio Morgan Lallana Puncheon Waigo Lambert Pardew would never play this team but it would be full of goals. Would love to see this line up today.
  15. At least you were clear. Oh no wait, you lost me when you said 'The system has failed on its own terms (ST holders ordering more than one ticket each which is unfair)' and 'Not saying the the system is unfair -since everybody knows the current rules- but it could be made fairer).' I know exactly what youre saying. Clear as ..... mud. What youre saying is its unfair, but youre not saying its unfair, but you're saying it could be made fairer. Glad I cleared that up.
  16. Wow. Some of the posts on this thread today. Wow. If you get a ticket, well done. If you don't, well suck it up and get on with it. Don't ***** and moan about 'how the system screwed you'.
  17. Firstly - linked general sale. From Thursday 4th Feb until 5pm on Tuesday 9th February, tickets will be on sale, one per person, to those supporters also purchasing tickets to the home league fixture versus Walsall on Saturday February 27th. Supporters must already be on our database to buy these tickets. If supporters cannot make the Walsall game, other fixtures can be chosen at the discretion of each supporter. This sales window will not be available online.
  18. This whole business of MK Dons preventing Saints from signing Puncheon is complete ******** by the way. I've checked and the Football League rules are quite clear... 48.2.4 The period of a Long Term Loan shall expire no earlier than the end of the Season in which the Long Term Loan takes place and a Player signed on such a transfer must complete the loan period and may not be recalled by his original Club at any time during that loan period save: a when the Player is recalled and transferred permanently to another Club; and b in the case of a goalkeeper whose agreement may contain a recall clause which may only be implemented in exceptional circumstances with the consent of the Executive Puncheon is on a long term loan to MK Dons and he has to see out that loan unless the conditions of either a) or b) are met. In this case, the conditions of sub-section a) will be met. Therefore, as long as Plymouth want to recall him to sell him, they can, and MK Dons can do nothing about it.
  19. I was at the game last night too and I couldn't have said it better myself. You've covered it all perfectly. Really don't rate Seaborne-too one footed and he's got a 50p head. Otsemobor I thought got better as the game went on but is it just me, or does he wander around like he's in a daze most of the time? I was genuinely impressed with Barnard but for most of the game he and Lambert were chasing scraps. The times we got the ball down and played it into Barnards feet, he looked good and the team looked dangerous. So frustrated with hoofball last night. Kelvin was MOM. Wotton and James were awful. Lallana Is looking like Lallana of last season lately. We need some consistency and we need to get our best attacking team out. Personally I would go with this team each week... Davis Thomas Fonte Jaidi Harding Antonio Schneiderlin/Hammond Lallana Holmes Barnard Lambert subs: Bart Mills Otsemobor Seaborne Schneiderlin/Hammond Waigo Connolly
  20. There's this lad, you might have heard of him, big fella, plays centre back and right back but in my opinion, the best right back at his current club.... Wayne Thomas. Sort of player that causes debate amongst fans, but in my opinion, he's our best defensive right back, he's got a decent cross on him. He made two or three really important clearances at MK on Wednesday. I really think he's our best right back and should be given a run there. HCDAJFU.
  21. Does the 2 and a half year deal suggest that Pardew thinks he can do a job for us in this league, and possibly in the Championship, but doesn't have the quality to step up to Premiership level? As far as I'm concerned thats fine - if we got him for £175k (plus Patterson), its a punt worth taking. Good signing.
  22. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bT_DZuT8euw
  23. I think we'll lose 2 or 3-1 tomorrow. MK Dons aren't the team we beat 3-1 earlier this season - they're much better now. And I think we've declined a bit since then too.
  24. Oh and the Millwall number 5 - Paul Robinson - was a man mountain today. Won EVERYTHING. Kept Lambert and Lallana really quiet. Unlike Seaborne who won NOTHING.
  25. If I'm honest, I didn't think prior to today that a CM was a priority but after seeing todays game, and how we didn't produce anything going forward, i think a decent CM is exactly what we need. With Holmes back in the mix and Antonio showing he can do a job up top, along with Lallana, Lambert, James and Connolly, I think we have enough cover in the wide areas and up front. Never seen Stock play but if he's decent then get him in. I have seen Danns play three times - remember him being very good in one of them and dont remember much from him in the other two so he couldn't have been that good, but either one would be a decent addition. Anyone who think that with the signing midweek we've solved the right-back problem, think again. The more I think over JO's performance today, the more it angers me that Pards said he played well.
