We were doing ok before injuries, suspensions and playing top four teams to be fair. Still, a CB and GK wouldnt go a miss, the squads still doesnt have enough depth.

This is the rumours I have heard circling, pretty sure the plan is to upgrade the existing waterfront as part of a joint venture with the council that has just been landed a large grant from government. We wont be moving sites, we dont even sell out St Marys, an expansion potentially in a couple of years but at the moment we are ok.

Romania and Bulgaria immigration restrictions to lifted
Smirking_Saint replied to pap's topic in The Lounge
I think it will be difficult to talk about this subject openly without someone jumping on some sort of completly over the top prejudice tirade, however I think that its a subject that will effect us all. Whether you like it or not there is an undercurrent of discontent in many of the major cities harboured by the working class of injustices brought about by immigration. This wont go away, and in fact is likely only to get worse by further migration hindering job prospects and reducing the wages for certain jobs. Add to this the reports of high crime rates. Personally I think there gets to a point of enough is enough, I am pro immigration in certain quarters, in fact I think Australia has it bang on, allow those in that fall into certain criteria which are either genuinely fleeing oppression or that can actually add skills in areas that we are short. If you do not meet those criteria then simply do not allow a working visa as for me a country should always look after its own citizens first. -

Id take 8-10 only if that money is invested in a decent CB or Goalkeeper. I cant see him going to West Ham, I reckon he will want to see out his career at Saints TBH but anything close to 10m and Id snap their hands off.

Well, he isnt slow by any means, he isnt lightening but not slow, is a very good finisher on the floor and in the air. Big and strong, nasty and can despite popular belief hold the ball up. He will never flick it around a load of players but thats not his game. As per lightweight injury wise I disagree, you find with players after they have one or two big injuries they become a little susceptible. He has tendonitis I believe which is a horrible injury in reality. Is he good enough to keep them up on his own ? No, but he is certainly better than a bottom of the table player (in the right system)

I disagree entirely, we dont play with any real identified RM or LM, more an attacking unit that lines up losely as the forward four of a 4231 formation, there are loosely recognised roles of the CF and the three tight AMs that interchange and occasionally drift wide but generally allow the full backs to overlap. One of the midfielders generally holds and drops to form a back three CBs in the attacking phase and the other midfielder will play more box to box and will interchange with the AMs. Thats how I can see it anyway, so personally I dont see how a wide midfielder will help ? Especially one that provided less impact then an apparantly terrible gaston last season and a midfielder with a sketchy past, inconsistant game and just doesnt work hard enough.

Carroll is better than most give him credit and will fit sams team perfectly. Whether he himself is enough I dont know. It depends when he gets fit and how the teams around them respond but from what I hear he wont be fit until the last quarter of the season which is far too late.

What puncheons one good game proves this does it ?

Up QPR - Very very good squad for that league, HR who despite what often gets written on here is a decent manager and is more than capable of getting them promoted. Leicester - Seems like their time, have a decent squad and to be honest I think they need this before their better plsyers start moving on. Leeds - Have a decent young squad and a manager with something to prove. I think a couple of injuries or losing players in Jan will curtail Derby. Down Fulham - They are terrible, also their recent transfer policy of buying older players is goong to bite them. Parker and The ginger one whose name I cant remember are too slow to both play DM and Berba for all his quality needs real energy around him. West Ham - Too many injuries, cant score goals despite having 100 strikers and big sam playing with no strikers at times purely defensively means they should be kicked out the league by default. Sunderland - Their blip of positivity under poyet is just that, a blip, they lack quality, how anyone wasted anything on Altidore is beyond me.

Uh, no he isnt, in fact if you read their forums they are pretty dissapointed with him up to yesterday.
-
No His first decent game for good knows how long for them and displaying the same faults as he always did for us, poor passing, slows down play, doesnt work hard enough. He was decent for us last season but wouldnt fit Mopos model. HTH
-
Thats alright he has just joined udinese ?!? To be honest that always happens when a consortium takes over, do thry have cash though ?
-
Because Ings is more then just a goalscorer.... Anyways, in reply to Duncs post. Id go for Hughes, if we can get him, 10m will be a snip, buy him and let him see the season out at Derby. A defender is a must aswell, whether Maguire can step up to this level I dont know. Id much rather go for someone a little more proven if Im honest. Schmeichal, always thought maybe/maybe not about him through the years but he is a lot more consistant these days, he isnt a poor player at all to be honest.

Carlos Vela linked to southampton for 20 million
Smirking_Saint replied to killer fan's topic in The Saints
This Definately need a long term new CB and GK and TBH we need to be looking at that sooner rather than later, it was an almost acceptable gamble not buying in the summer but without the injuries we would still be in reach of a strong top 8 finish IMO. Besides, I really cant see us going for another attacking option before the summer rightly or wrongly. Ossie isnt that bad its lack of creation thats hurting in that area (for whomever plays there). Plus I think the Ramirez experiment will snd possibly should (shoot me) rumble on until thr summer too as the kid has serious talent just an inability to apply it right now. -
Its good, but if you work out for longer than an hour your basically wasting that extra time IMO, unless its sports specific

Id agree with Arsenal or Utd but not the rest, perhaps Liverpool if the improvement continues. -
EXCLUSIVE: Manchester United plan to sign Adam Lallana

Umm why exactly wont he leave ? Firstly, Adam is exactly the player cleverley should be and Utd need right now, added to the fact Moyes has a tangiable warchest and HAS to spend to appease fans over their poor league position. I agree we are in a strong position right now but every club has a selling point and if Utd REALLY want him he will go. He will find it hard to turn down Utd too I reckon. If I were him out of all the top four Utd or Arsenal would be my only head turners. Its unlikely but certainly possible and the way he is playing we are guaranteed to have offers. -
