MP press conference @ 3pm live on Sky.
Smirking_Saint replied to Cestrian Saint's topic in The Saints
Exactly, money and strong leadership, lets hope that the investment stays and we get someone as astute as NC was -
Not necessarily, lets be honest nobody has a clue whats going on
-
Exactly, and unfortunately we have no idea what the hell is in store, only speculation. Im not expecting much comment from the liebherrs, it doesnt seem there way. Perhaps the plan is for Cortese to return, personally I cant see his ego/ambition (bit of both really) keeping him away for long but also KL may have other plans. We can only hope those plans are not of the get out quick veriety.
-
Im not naive to think thats the main motivator no, thr one great incentive is and always will be the paycheck, there will be certain players that will have possibly engaged with the vision though I dont doubt that. As I said before, there wont be a mass exodus unless KL has no plans for the club other then making money.
-
Its a tad OTT but it may not be pie in the sky, it all depends I suppose on how NC 'sold' the vision. Ive no doubt many would be a little saddened for his exit due to what he has done for this club in his short but sucessful tenure. However lets not pretend this isnt a lot of exaggeration by the media that have had slow news this TW. Plus, if the club dont want to sell they ultimately wont, plus if they pledge a continuation of the vision then I dont see why that wouldnt appease the players. The next couple of weeks will tell us all we need to know
-
Yup, that 5 year plan was pie in the sky..... Oh
-
You had some in common then ?
-
Absolutely gutted by the news, he may have been hard faced, he may have rubbed people up the wrong way but ive always heard that he isnt that bad from members of staff at St Marys. He had a vision, maybe it was a dream but he believed it and do did we and looking right now like it could have been achieveable if we kept improving. What happens now ? Certainly we may be ok in the long term, we may still move in that direction and even maybe have greater success but right now Im sceptical. Sad sad day for true saints fans
-
Not entirely sure Id listen to that dullard TBH
-
Hmm Whilst Im sure we will come out of it and survive Id say the future could be very different for us. Cortese, as pig ignorant as he is seems to be the lynchpin of our journey and future. Hopefully this is all a game, but its a very dangerous one
-
Well, they have gone from league 1 to mid table in the prem so Id say if they were judging success it would be a very favourable outcome.
-
Handed in resignation
-
I thought it was an injury on holiday ? Waterski ? But it makes perfect sense if it was guly..... Or Ramirez
-
Of course you would know intimate details ?
-
Hmm When did he fail ? Perhaps his chances came as he did a fair job, works hard in different positions, gave us vital assists and goals through our journey and maybe proved himself more on the training ground then Lee ?
-
He wasnt allowed tickets for his friends for a sold out game, not entirely sure how there is a massive issue there really, ok, being a club legend he probably should have been allowed but not that worried. Cortese vs the ex legends is one massive PR cock up that could have been handled better but they are all as bad as each other.
-
True, perhaps they see what Cortese can bring from a club building POV aswell as the potential finance that he could perhaps bring into the club (Im just speculating there) Anyway, I think Cortese leaving would be all but catastrophic to us from the golden plan point of view.
-
I wouldnt get rid of Gaston TBF, but they are slightly different players.
-
Football isnt GS' area of expertise TBF, he is better in the workd of fishing
-
Holtby would be good, hughesy would be excellent though, top temperament for a young lad. Like Pastor said he woukd fit into our system pretty perfectly, creative talent and not scared to work hard.
-
But our attacking midfielders draw in for a reason as it creates space for our fullbacks to get forward, which is where our natural width comes from. Though I wouldnt mind a pacy wide man on the bench I dont see MoPo utilising him enough as he is pretty steadfast with the way that he plays things. Itll probably be Rowe or Isgrove giving the pace options I imagine. As for The LB issue, I agree we need cover, I wonder if we can get a left sided CB that can cover here Also not entirely sure we need another striker unless we have given up on Lambert, our lack of creativity, or moreso our resistance to provide anything towards our main striker is the real issue.
-
Would be the worst possible outcome for us if he left. You wonder how attractive a job in the country of his birth at one of the biggest clubs in the world would be.
