  1. Indeed, where is he? Us 'scumlettes' miss his comical take on all things 'Skately'.
  2. +1 Herbie Taylor = Legend among fans and a gentleman to boot! For those who don't know, Herbie puts in a lot of work in support of the Children from Chernobyl.
  3. So you are Jim? If so that leaves me with an even bigger puzzle! FF mentioned Jim Barnard as living in Fair Oak, or going to games with the Fair Oak Saints. So that put me on the wrong track! I wonder who the Jim was who I travelled with then! Apologies, they were great years weren't they!
  4. I still have reservations as to whether I travelled to Villa away with Jim Barnard, as that was the first time I met him. Jim, whatever his name, did travel with us on some coaches that particular season. Just trying to get to the bottom of what his surname was!
  5. 26th December is Boxing Day, the Monday bank holiday is in lieu of Boxing Day being a Saturday.
  6. Noel Burke and I and, if it's the same Jim we discussed on PM, Jim Barnard. Ask Jim if he knew Noel and me, if he does then ask him how we got to Villa Park and who was the other guy (who did the driving). Steve Jones (Eastleigh), Robin Richardson (now Eastleigh) and Mick Lucas. Apart from yourself and those you name I know of no others.
  7. I think we've had a thread on this previously Duncan. I couldn't vouch for Jim going to all the games (I believe he may have been Jim Barnard, see a PM I'll send you) but I was referring more to your comment that there were only 8 at Villa for the replay when, clearly, there were 4 in our little group alone! As to seeing all the games in the run? I did, but have no proof whatsoever, along with Noel Burke, Steve Jones, Robin Richardson, Mick Lucas and maybe one other who I shall enquire of and confirm yay or nay later.
  8. I still see Robin from time to time. Steve Jones (Eastleigh) worked on the Railway in London and travelled with Robin and Mick so I'd not bet against him having done all the games. Thanks for the reminder about Bob Weekes also, he was a fine fella!
  9. Oopidstay, oopidstay!
  10. That 'uncrossable divide' has been crossed by a couple of Fair oak residents. One of the Smirk brothers is now a Skate as is Dougie Goodenough who did exactly the same. :smt097 No loss to us though. As to a second team? I have one and because I'm Catholic you'll all realise that my affection lies north of the border. Yup! I support the good old Teddy Bears.
  11. There were more than 8 Duncan. Four of us crammed into a Mini for the trip! There were also some Spurs fans there. We met them at a service station and they decided to come with us when we told them that their game at Stoke was off because the stand roof was on the pitch! One of the four I cannot remember his name, he looked a little like you. Then there was Noel Burke (Warrens ex Eastleigh), a guy called Jim (he drove Barcro's van) and myself.
  12. More than half a dozen? I'm sure there must be? How long before it becomes edit? Surely at least 3 minutes?
  13. Over 20 years ago I saw a red Porsche with the plate 915 HOT with a space after the 9 and the 5 so obviously an S.
  14. Or if something happened to provoke the elbow in the ribs? It appears to me that the elbow in the ribs is in retaliation to something.
  15. Careful! Your level headed view may incur the wrath of some on here :smt063
  16. Are you still up this way training then? That worked out well!
  17. Will you be going?
  18. I reckon you're very close to the truth with that. Not that I know anything of course!
  19. We used to call it Central Baths, that was back in about 64? 65? maybe?
  20. MLT is no more of a financial expert than the vast majority of us on here. Again, like the majority of us on here, he was led by his love of the club. Yes, in retrospect, it does seem that he was a little blinded by things as I was.
  21. First season completely sold out!
  22. Might this be the answer? During WWII the IFS, although officially neutral, gave succour to the Nazi war effort. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20090721054820AAlFhK5 "The Irish Free State was officially neutral during the War and many Irishmen from the IFS served in the British Army against the Nazis. The republican government in power in the IFS, which they called the Republic of Ireland from 1933, however being violently anti-British gave discrete political aid to Germany. When Hitler's death was announced De Valera attended at the German Embassy in Dublin and signed the book of condolence!"
  23. Also noticed him, later, still with the toothbrush in his mouth. Rather a strange affectation?
  24. I just wonder what the Mancs would say if fans of another team chanted all the way through a minutes silence/commemoration for the souls lost at Munich?
  25. Known as 'Bompey'
