  1. I was not specific enough in my post. I did, of course, mean last British veteran. Which is why I was espousing the idea of a state funeral.

    C) Is the reason we are bickering with the Blue Meanies C) Is the reason the Blue Meanies come on here to argue. They have little left of their town, having trashed it (even worse than it was) in celebration of beating us.
  3. They don't need a Lucy. There's enough tits down Fratton already!
  4. You're right DD, but I think that the term 'our club' is more an emotional one than anything else?

Fish mouths are always opening and shutting. So a noise has to be made to give the effect of constructive conversation.

Those Blue Meanies of long standing know about the fall from grace and favour and how quickly it can come about. While I'd gladly accept Saints gaining all the bragging rights I'd not want our county cousins out of existence. Otherwise who could we annoy by smiling smugly and knowingly (while all the time being well aware that what goes around might well come around!). If they fall far enough I wonder if all the newly found plastics in Eastleigh will have a collective, ceremonial burning of the blue and gold shirts before assuring us that "I always was a Chelsea/Manc/Liverpool fan!"
  7. R.I.P. and sincere thanks for your part in keeping us Free. As previously suggested, maybe Harry could have a State Funeral to commemorate all his brothers in arms. He was the last one and represents a generation whose values and commitment were second to none.
  8. I think that you'll find many, many people who are far more arrogant than Duncan. Forthright he may well be but certainly not arrogant!
  9. I think that we may never fully know but if we look at how ML (and his family) operate we'll find that they have a principle of never having debt. He seems a consumate and professional businessman so I'd think that he has not levered the acquisition of Saints against debt.
  10. I can hardly wait for you to be in a safe legal position to reveal exactly what sort of krap was going on behind the scenes. Then we'll all know who was 'doing one' on us all!
  11. So where, exactly, might we have been if, in pandering to your wishes, LC had not stumped up any money? Instead he could have sat on his hands and watched your team, my team, our team, die. I'm not casting LC as a Saint, but he certainly stumped up money when it was very badly needed.

  13. Andy Marks has been training the children at Cherbourg Rd school, including Chip (my nipper). He's keen on the job, very much likes doing it so this will be a promotion to him. Fair play to the lad!
  14. The wages needed funding. Leon did that, in a roundabout way he aided the continuance of the Pinnacle debacle. Fry's assessment of the situation was that if that money had not been forthcoming then we would have been in a totally different situation, almost definitely liquidated! So LC was between a rock and a hard place. Despite his shortcomings I reckon LC is a hero for keeping the patient breathing while others were preparing to screw the coffin lid down!
  15. TBH, we couldn't change things at the time and we can't change them now. As infuriating as it is we cannot undo the past and we have to go with what we have. However, what we have, in New Owner and AP, might well be more than what those fantasists at Pinnacle could have provided. I understand your ire at this but let's all channel any of our passions into supporting this new set up and propelling us toward a stable team which, given luck, may make mid table or a play off spot.
  16. Typical right wing rant, wishing to break both employment law and in doing so leaving an employee open to prosecution under the H&SAW act. This rule is in place to stop employers exploiting people and leaving them tired and, at times, not able to make coherent decisions or use dangerous machinery in a safe and appropriate manner. Most, probably all, employment law in this country has come about through experience of work induced ill health or even death. I bet you'd get really excited about air Traffic controllers who spend only a few hours at a time at their screen for obvious reasons. These controllers might just be keeping your holiday plane in the sky the next time you fly!
  17. The 11 hours does ring a bell. In extreme circumstances an agreement can be made between company and employee to shorten that period. In my experience this has rarely happened but was almost always down to a need to man a job in a breakdown situation so that production can be resumed A.S.A.P. In these circumstances the employee has had a meal brought in from a local takeaway and also, if appropriate, paid for the rest of the next shift off.
  18. British justice is the best that money can buy.
  19. Unless you sign the opt out agreement, or is that no longer possible to do?
  20. Hmm, I see your point but the problem with that is the employer then gets another employee to treat in exactly the same way. Never realising what was wrong or, more likely, not being made to face up to their responsibilities as an employer.
  21. The season we were relegated, 70's, we came back from Birmingham with all our windows put out. Still had time enough for a drink and a jolly in Oxford though!
  22. I can't help but think of the story about the tortoise and the hare.
  23. A very good point. Are the rules going to be applied in the correct manner? Or in Football League manner, i.e. the horse has bolted so we'll now shut the stable door?
