  1. Also it depends what represents success for them. A 3 year contract worth £15m or being a central player in a team that competes to win the biggest trophies. It didn’t work out for Morgan did it.... moving from us was effectively career ending from a football perspective
  2. Good interview that, I like him already. One quote was interesting, To Adams, Southampton feels like the ideal fit. Ralph Hasenhüttl, the manager, is obsessed by speed and strength, high pressing and intelligence No wonder Charlie Austin doesn’t fit Ralph’s thinking. That’s 0 out of 4 ?
  3. That’s funny. I assumed the op meant the fan base not the players (to which I would say a resounding YES)
  4. Blimey. Didn’t ever think I’d agree with any thing you typed, but there it is. Nail. Head.
  5. Ings not allowed to play and Gabbi struggling with hamstring
  6. I thought his contribution was invaluable today
  7. Much better second half. Vesterguard back and no Vardy for Leicester next week and I'm more optimistic
  8. If most French teams are crap then Everton are in real trouble losing 4-1 to Rennes
  9. Buy back clauses are typically a chance for the original selling club, in this case Man City, to have first option to match the offer made by the prospective buyer. If they don't want to match it we could accept the offer from Liverpool (sorry, slip of the key board, I meant the prospective buyer). It's not normally a fixed pre-agreed fee
  10. Even if the new owner had pots of money, he wouldn’t be able to spend that much of it. You can thank the top 6 and the beautifully crafted fair play regulations introduced to stop other teams being able to compete with them.
  11. Bloody spellcheck - Booked in the last para was F'cked
  12. A few simple questions. You approach your number one transfer target and he's says he's really interested, but also says it's a big decision for him and he wants to see what other clubs come in too, so he wants to wait until nearer the end of the window. Do you wait or move on to target number 2? If you move on, how many times do you keep moving on when you get the same answer? If you get your No1 target on the last day, or settle for your number 5 target, will you still consider it a Les F-Up for not getting business done early or for signing another player that isn't good enough. (NB - It's not an acceptable answer to just keep offering transfer target no1 more money until he says yes) Secondly. Hughes gets a better offer and leaves. You get the CV of a highly rated young latin manager currently in Spain. His CV is identical to Pochettinos (and coincidently the also the same as the MP2). Do you consider it? If anyones got any great answers to theses I'm sure Les and Ralph will be interested because it looks to me that they're booked whatever they do.
  13. Very good, but you know really what I’m suggesting is that the cvs for the awesome Pochettino and the awful Pellegrino were pretty identical before they joined us, other than the latter had played and coached a little in the EPL. There’s a lot of luck involved in whether you get a genius or a clown when recruiting young talent from abroad (management or players) and that for me is what Les has been guilty of in the last couple of years - reliance on luck (and then being unlucky). When you have a similar budget to half the teams in the league and want to get ahead you need to take a risk and try something a little different. We did and to start with it worked, lately it hasn’t. Not sure what my overall point is. Maybe as Adkins always used to say, don’t get to up when it goes well or too down when it goes badly? I wouldn’t make vast changes at the club. Give Hughes the job for 3 years and improve the squad in 3 or 4 players
  14. Wasn’t first MP and latest MP’s CVs pretty identical before they joined us?
  15. Although, if you look at the Rangers / Gerrard press conference photo (BBC - can't do link thingys) you'll see striking resemblances. Table cloth..... Paper name holders..... Dodgy looking geezers.... I guess that means that they're either both huge clubs, or they're both robbing b'stards that have screwed the tax man and been dragged through the courts. Make up your own mind...
  16. Just seen this is on the Liverpool thread. Sorry mods, please delete.
  17. It’s being suggested in the media that one of the additional transfer payments that will be due from Liverpool will become payable if they win the Chamoions League, and that is not only in the case of VVD but also Mane, Lovren, Clyde and Lallana. One less than reliable source (The Sun, yes, I know) is suggesting it could be as much as £10m, which could go some way to making up for our low prize money for league position this year. I always supported British teams in European competition but was really going to struggles to support the scousers against Real Madrid. This might swing it however!
  18. Getting promotion won’t be easy next year either with a debt free Sunderland in the division. Looks like they’re playing for one automatic promotion spot. How long before they start complaining about Sunderland’s ‘unfair’ financial advantage?
  19. Any streams?
  20. But you can fine a player for a red card if you feel it was stupid / deliberate / negligent / dangerous. Take your pick
  21. Clubs tap up our players because we find/create good players that they think are good enough for them. Go ask Crystal Palace, Stoke and even West Ham fans whether they'd like players that the top clubs spend the summer pursuing or whether they want a settled squad of players the top clubs don't rate or want.
  22. I think that once the season starts (and certainly once the transfer window closes) his inability to get his head in the right place to play a match will constitute an unwillingness to fulfil the terms of his contract, and then we can fine him again and again. I don't know any job where you can phone in and say I'm not working today because I'm not up for it. Unless of course not getting his head right is classified as sickness and therefore he doesn't have to attend work anyway, but can still be paid. He'll feel right at home in Liverpool the way this is going.....
  23. On Radio Norfolk via BBC website
  24. By the way, Heisenberg Thank you for finally starting a thread that hasn't made me want to throttle you. I 'hoped' you would someday
  25. I live on 'hope' Whilst there's hope of achieving I'm interested. Decisions like the last minute penalty Saturday and talk of a world league for the 'big' clubs make me lose hope. The clock is ticking unfortunately
