It's disappointing to lose a talented player but he's not the only one we have. The mere fact that so many players 'appear' to be wanted by other clubs proves we are in a string position. Of those linked, JRod,Lallana, Morgan, Lovren, Clyne, Shaw is the one to sell because the money is far more than needed to replace. The fee is high because of potential, his outstanding contract and his age. You never know, he may be very near his potential!!! Assuming we sign four or five 8-12m players we will be better off for selling. Our academy is strong and will produce many first team players but the reality is we won't ever be top of the ladder and some players will need to move on. The challenge for almost every club is to develop players and keep them long enough to push the team up the status ladder to make it easier to attract players. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Some good points FC. I would expand the question of value and make the point that if we sell Lallana it must be for an amount that the club thinks will make us stronger overall, not just to replace AL. If we sold him and for the money got another Lovren, JRod and Gk then the actual figure is almost irrelevant. The point of sport should be wrapped in learning, progression, a sense of achievement within structures that encourage all and favour none. And then there is professional sport, in particular football!! It will take a very strong so called 'smaller club' to buck the PR juggernaut money making machine that is the Premier League. Maybe we could be that club...the next few months will give us a clue. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The fact is that it has not been said how much the transfer budget is prior to any sales and nor should it be publicised or not will it. What you and most are doing is making a deduction based on everything you read and hear from all your own particular sources, itk if not, coupled with your own understanding and rationale. It's is very possible that the budget is 25-35m, it could equally be double that or anything else. Stop guessing and assuming and get back to being pedantic and stating facts. Far better use of your posts. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

What everyone has missed (I think) is that although I believe Les Red when he states any revenues will go back into the team, I do not recall him stating a timescale for this, ie not necessarily this window!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Any figure I the thirties minimum is excellent business for a kid with huge potential but still a few years away from his peak. Like someone says 20-30% sell on clause and happy days. I'd ask for Phil Jones as well!!

I realise it's not 'in the rules' (except loans) so you make it a condition of sale. We don't want to sell and don't need to. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Or just won't be able to play. We need to get rid of players earlier than that if we really are going to sell them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Thanks for the update but I'm confused by the Koeman and training ground paragraph!!! So it's THE new striker and new strikers!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

It's a choice between the word until and before. Subtle difference!! SSN using until....Reed used before. Time will tell of course but it's a great appointment. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Yeah I get that I just think that the nearer we get to the top 6/top 4 the more stability we need seeing as in reality we won't become a regular top 6 club. Like you say it striking the right balance! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

David Moyes would be the best choice. Would not 'be looking' to move whereas Koeman probably would. Moyes would likely be here for many years. We probably need that!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I think 'Torrent of Abuse' has hit the proverbial nail on the head by stating we need to become a 'selling at the right price club'. The reality is that we are not at the top footballing table (and possibly never will be, especially in terms of titles over the longer term and supporter base) but as long as clubs like us strive to have a season or even small periods of time where we can and do challenge for the very top then football is alive and well. If that possibility becomes less and less possible simply because of money then the sport is dead in the water, or at least we then move much closet to a European league and our league becomes second rate. So if we continue to develop players at the rate we have inevitably if they progress quicker than the clubs standing at any moment (a moment being a transfer window or two) then most if not all may want to leave. And fair enough, mostly. What we as fans have to hope for is that the club management are string enough to keep players (not against their will of course) through individual and collective motivation for as long as possible; a) to enhance the club as much as possible and b) to maintain the development path in front of the academy players so that they do not look to go too early. This is of course precisely where we find ourselves now and because this is the strongest position we have ever been in its very hard for most of us to accept that players will/do want to move on. But some individuals have only just mind you, outgrown the club on current standing hence their wishes to move. It's very unlikely that we will constantly be in a position every summer where 6-8 players are highly sought after. The obvious key this year is only to sell 3, maybe 4 ON OUR TERMS and for us as supporters to accept that we have to be ( like almost every single club) a selling one but when we do we are big enough and strong enough to get the right price for us. The other key aspect to this going forward is that players sales do not finance anything other than player purchases rather than sustaining the business (like under Lowe). This should be the aim and the reality. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The REALITY right now is that technically we have sold NO-ONE, so true to their word. Ok, it seems all but done with Rickie. It's sad but actually not that bad, he is most definitely at the end of his career and would really only have one or two good ones left - in all probability. The more I think about it the more I believe the board are strong. If they were in it for money right here and now wouldn't they have sold AL, LS et al. ASAP???? The media live on rumour, it's what's sells....we can only judge them accurately at the end of the window. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

As the title suggests, WTF is going on......in our supporters head? If you seriously believe that we will start the season without Lambert, Lallana, Shaw, Lovren, Wanyama, Clyne, JRod and Morgan as suggested by journalists whose only remit is to sell copy then you deserve everything you get. Of course we MIGHT sell 2 or 3, and in my head that's ok because there are legitimate and deserved reasons for the first three on that list, if as rumoured they go to Liverpool, a CL team, and the biggest club in the world respectively. Any other sales does smack of asset stripping BUT it hasn't happened and I for one and probably many thousands more, rational level headed people believe what I see and not what others want to happen fuelled by their own (usually totally detached) agendas Get a grip. If you don't trust RKs words fair enough but don't lose your head while all around you are also losing theirs. Give them the time needed and think it through logically people!!! Why would he sign a deal if didn't want to be here??! Exactly when where or how did you meet him to understand that he does not want to be here? Why do so many people believe gossip and twitter and unreliable sources as fact? Pathetic. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
