    Toby

Atletico Madrid buying Jackson Martinez.....hopefully means they've finally agreed to sell Toby to us....from a financial perspective!
  2. that was Jimmy Case. Its a shame but we've had him here far longer than most players stay at one club and to be fair he deserves the chance to be playing CL. His ability is a little above the level of the club. We still have Victor and Reed and others and I have no doubt that we will bring someone decent in if not two.
  3. there is absolutely no point in getting hung up over the "reported price" because it will be officially " undisclosed. The press almost always make it sound like the "bigger" club has got the better deal to maintain the perception and because media outlets like sky would rather p*** off 50,000 Saints fans than 200,000 Liverpool fans in their reporting. Whatever it is, the club are happy to take it so lets move on with players who want to be here. What matters is the overall balance of the books and the overall strength in quality and numbers of the squad. What you may perceive we "lost" on one deal we may well "make" on another.
  4. I think if we get him for 2-3m its a good option and probably the best we could get for that amount. He has played to a high level and even though he did not play particularly well for a lot of the time he was here he clearly has some talent. Players rarely show their best when on loan...the stability of a contract and being able to get a home is not to be underestimated in the performance of a player.
  5. TAKE 12.5M AND RICKIE, WILL SIT ON OUR BENCH BUT A GREAT OPTION
  6. for who/what?
  7. sometimes the value of having a particular player is not just on match day but what they can add during the week to younger players. Koeman has been quoted previously as saying he is not adverse to having a more experienced player to help with the development and education of younger ones...perhaps Cabaye is this player.

    Toby

Exactly this. A great CB but also very useful in DCM and RB. I wouldn't complain if he cost 15-20m.
  9. Get him in for 5-7m and then sell Clyne for double to Liverhampton
  10. Who are we in for then? Is one of them a Striker?
  11. We obviously need a keeper for most of the season but also to push Forster - we will sign a youngish one for 4-6m I would guess. Toby for circa. £10m or A.N.Other CB for similar I think we will also get another CB for 6-8m unless they really believe in Gardos If Clyne does go (for 10-12m?) - we will probably spend 5-6m on a RB If Morgan goes (for 25-30m) - Clasie for 12-13, and 7-8 on Vilhena? I think we will keep Elia - 1-2m? A Striker is a no brainer - Austin or Ings for 10-12m hopefully And I would expect another CAM or Winger for 8-10m So 7 or 8 players 70-75m spend....about 40m recouped (not including anything for Ramirez and Osvaldo) which equates to about 30-35m spend. If neither Clyne nor Morgan actually go then I would predict a spend of 45-50m to make the squad as strong if not stronger, so financially it actually makes sense to sell Morgan and Clyne assuming we have spotted replacements in cheaper markets!!
  12. Forster - 8.5 Davis - 5 Gazzaniga - 4 Fonte - 9 Toby - 8 Yoshida - 7.5 Clyne - 8 Bertrand - 9 Gardos - 5 Targett - 6 Schneiderlin - 8.5 Wanyama - 8 Davis - 7 JWP - 7 Reed - 6.5 Tadic - 7.25 Djuricic - 5.5 Pelle - 8.25 Mane - 8.5 Ellia - 6.75 Long - 7.5 KOEMAN - 9.25
  13. REWARD SOMEONE FOR JUST DOING THE JOB HE IS CONTRACTED TO DO.....TYPICAL OF THE WORLD WE LIVE IN.
  14. Wilson, Milner, and Richards would be great from that list. Add in Austin, Vilhenna, a new keeper, Toby and Clyne signing and maybe a wide player and that would be a very good summer!!

    Boycott

    explain why.....

    Boycott

brilliant!! The (likely or certainly top 3) manager of the year not good enough. *****. The reality is that we are a medium sized club but we have a great business model. This means that finishing 7th or even higher is a great achievement. The reason for not finishing top 4 is simply squad size and quality...this is the difference and without the funds to carry 25 internationals on 25-30k+ per week we will always be "hoping"!!! Ban the OP. Clueless.
  17. If he signs a new deal and stays then great. If he chooses to go to Manure or A.N.Other CL team then fair enough and good riddance. Sign Trippier.
  18. sometimes its good to sign a player who isnt quite ready to be a definite starter. Koeman clearly knows the player and if he sees something in him "for the future" thats good enough for me. Would need one more though if/when Morgan leaves.
  19. Probably playing him Monday night....
  20. Buy Austin AND Ings!! Need options in Europe. Or if we dont get there this year, those two, Pelle and JRod would be a very decent pool of attackers, with Mane and Tadic too.
  21. If we get 25-30 for Morgan and 15 for Clyne (only 15 as in last year. Any leass than 10 and it's probably better to see home run out the contract) then that's good business. We do not need and cannot always keep top class in every position at least not for 3-4 or more seasons unless we happen to reach CL. We havnt so they will go. Others aren't quite as good or deserve to move just yet. In CM if we get Vilhenna, Claisie and add an ever improving Reed to Victor then that's good, and those two will easily be cheaper than what we get for Morgan. We are very much a club that produces talent, nurtures it and gets it too international level. How long we then mange to keep individuals is down to their personal ambitions but essentially whether we get in Europe of CL even. Most of the top top players we manage to create will stay a max of 2-3 years once they become internationals of top countries. That is our reality but it will produce a lot of exciting times and who knows at some point a CL season! If we face a summer where no top clubs wants a player or three then we will probably have had an average or less than average season
  22. Koeman has stated that he is happy to have "older" players who can add experience and aid the development of the younger ones and Sneijder would fit that perfectly.
