  1. I was watching with the prawn sandwich brigade in the east stand. Looked nailed on to me. I think the mellis "dive" just earlier cost us there.
  2. Sitting at Charlton station now after the game. Pretty solid performance overall - dominated the first half and should have been 2 up. Dominated start of second half too. Main difference in the second half was that charlton had a fast outlet when our attacks/corners broke down whereas we had no such outlet. In fact the equaliser came when perry lobbed the ball straight to the keeper. He launched it straight to shelvey in space, cross, Davis came out and missed it, and it hit burton and bobbled in. All charlton after that until last 10 when we started creating chances again. Felt very secure when jaidi came on whereas charlton defense turned into the keystone cops. If we could deliver a corner we could have nicked it. Couldn't really judge papa, but he did tackle back in his cameo. Good result IMHO given the disallowed offside efforts in the second half.
  3. So were we kicking towards our fans in the second half too?
  4. I predict some jaw dropping astonishing moments from Mr Wiago. I cannot predict whether or not they will be for good reasons or bad reasons though ;-)
  5. With the possible exception of Norwich, you have just given two examples that fit the category that I said we would have to exclude. Teams like Spurs, Newcastle, Man Utd etc have the luxury of sticking away fans in outer space. I was at that Newcastle game and it was a remarkable finale - but to suggest it was the doing of the Archers Road fans is pure fantasy. How can you say that it was not down to the players doing anything? Newcastle were comfortable for 88 minutes and the place was like a morgue. Then we got a barely deserved equaliser - that was the players doing (not the crowd). Only after the equaliser did the whole atmosphere change (the whole ground, not just the Archers) and Newcastle collapsed. That was one of the things that the Dell helped us with in many games.
  6. Examples please. With the exception of those with mega stadiums that can afford some puny section in outer space (like St James' Park for example) I don't think many clubs have such a luxury - especially in and around L1.
  7. Hoisted by my own petard - again :smt087
  8. You are right, I don't believe in any of that mumbo-jumbo. Fingers crossed for Saturday ;-)

  10. And there's me hearing rumour that it was something to do with the CIA - now you reveal that the conspiracy was devised by the entire country! JFK was asking for it wearing those "fatal head shorts". He should have kept them around his butt like the rest of us.
  11. Means nothing. It just adds weight to an argument on another thread about our propensity for conceding late goals in general. It has nothing to do with the fact that there may be a handful of away supporters in one corner of the ground. You might as well say that they should put the away supporters in the middle of a stand down the side and then, by some miracle, we will stop shipping late goals. I think you may be disappointed - IMHO of course.
  12. There isn't much point in getting into a semantic debate about what "class" means in a footballing sense. You will never agree. Terry, Carvalho, Vidic, Ferdinand etc all play in the same position at the top level, and all have their own attributes that make them stand out from the crowd - especially when compared to a decent CB in L1. This point came about just because somebody described Trotman as class (bet he wishes he hadn't bothered). In the context of SFC or even L1, he probably is class (whatever that means), but in the context of football as a whole (i.e. including the top level) he has a long way to go before he can warrant such an accolade.
  13. I thought the TV cameras usually point to where the ball is?

Nice - intelligent chap aren't you?
  15. Seems like many are missing the link that has been put on here several times stating that Coppell "is not* being lined up as the next DoF. Why the continued debate on the pros and cons of Mr Coppell? ITK or what?

    Bored with this now :-(
  17. How do you know this to be so? As far as I recall the club never did make an application for a work permit - they just came out with some wishy-washy guff about the potential for work permit problems (probably as a smoke screen to the real reasons for the delay in completing the deal).....last bit being pure speculation on my part don't you know.
  18. Anyway: http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/news/4585840.Coppell_not_lined_up_as_sporting_director/?ref=eb EDIT (Already posted above I think - sorry)
  19. Maybe he was, maybe he wasn't, but you can seriously think that they would employ AP then, when the original first choice (and there is nothing to say that was Coppell) changes his mind, decide to bring him as a DoF instead. Would this be with a view to undermine the manager and replace him asap? Just how would that be an good thing to do for the well-being and stability of the club? Call me naive, but it sounds like conspiracy theory nonsense to me. I think it is just a case of needing somebody else that knows the football business involved. Coppell would be a good choice to work with AP IMHO.
  20. Could you also tell us who really shot JFK? My missus is fascinated by that conspiracy theory. I would also like to know if the US really landed on the moon.
  21. I hate this meerkat crap. Sorry - anal retention problems.
  22. You are way too possessive!
  23. What on earth are you implying? Did you burn witches in a previous life or summat?
  24. I see - yes it did hang when I went to it. I just canned it and tried again and it was OK.
  25. What article? The only link I can see is the one from the OS ?
