South Africa Vs England - 2nd Test
RonManager replied to saints_is_the_south's topic in General Sports
Ok, thanks for letting us know. Take care crossing that busy road and don't speak to strangers. And drink sensibly. See you in an hour. -
I've watched this 'QuickQuid' ad a few times now and I'm sure she says - 'It's so fricking simple!'

Tickets are on sale to home supporters from the 22nd on their OS, so hopefully we'll hear something soon ie tomorrow! http://www.millwallfc.co.uk/page/TicketInfo/0,,10367~1912568,00.html

Losng our last game before the transfer window a blessing in disguise?
RonManager replied to trousers's topic in The Saints
Especially the man who matters, AP. If he has said this once he has said it a hundred times. Very few post-match interviews conclude without him making this very point, that we have our problems and are still a work in progress. -
I guess what you are seeing is a cross section of SMS, on a smaller scale. These people probably don't sing at SMS either, but want to watch their team, fair enough. I was up the back and we never stopped - as the game went on, more and more people arrived, attracted from other parts. The slightly scary, somewhat 'over-friendly' steward didn't mind at all as we were all standing and at one point there were definitely more people than seats! So what you end up with is a number of clumps of singers, all doing their own thing. Some L1 grounds sill have terracing eg Bristol Rovers, so all the singers can find each other. My opinion on their style of football is that I have watched this game for decades and I would not want to see Saints playing like that every game - however, now and then, it is productive. I was listening to some Col U fans chatting round the burger stand before the match and they were hoping for a 'game of football' for once, rather than the usual

Losng our last game before the transfer window a blessing in disguise?
RonManager replied to trousers's topic in The Saints
Yes, today was a most excellent 'tactical' defeat, perfectly executed. -
You could have let it lie, And you should have let it lie, But you wouldn't let it lie.
-
I wonder how much the fans will sell for? -they are, after all, probably the best fans in the world.
-
You couldn't let it lie, Bob.

It was on the ad break on SSN about an hour ago.

Shouldn't that be 'is/was/will be' - seeing has he's a Timelord and has control over the Temporal Nexus and that.
-
So, we're all The Master now - guess that makes tomorrow's match a nailed on draw.
-
I think we can outplay them on the deck. Pull them about and get in behind them. Jaidi will keep their route 1 aspirations under wraps. Lisbie may be wanting to make a grand farewell so will need to be well marshalled. 3-1 Saints

Yesssss - my recruitment drive is off and running. Welcome, welcome.

If we all ring it at the sametime, I wonder what will happen in 10-9-8...

Saints 3-1 Exeter - Post match Reaction
RonManager replied to SOTONS EAST SIDE's topic in The Saints
Stopped for a beer on the drive back yesterday at a wayside pub. The only other people at the bar were 3 Exeter fans. They were of the opinion that Chris Perry was our MOM in the 2nd half, and thought we should have been 4 or 5 up by half time. -
'I'm falling through the air, I wonder where I'm going to land, 'He nicked my Irn Bru, and let go of my hand' Irn Bru/Snowman ad - just seen it again, it's not been on for ages, probably last xmas.

Exactly. There were all sorts of disparate groups around me in Block 37 (including me), trying to start songs and it all got out of sync and confused, only the occasional one taking off. I've never seen half the people who were around me and judging by some of the conversations, they'd never been to SMS before. There were kids, bewildered looking grandmothers and grandads, long lost cousins from Freedonia and yoof young and old all shoehorned in together. Hopefully, the ground will continue to fill in a more organic and cohesive way over the rest of the season, with returning fans choosing where they want to sit, based on whether or not they want to sing. COYR I've said this before but the Kingsland/Norham corner requires more singers. I moved over at the MK Dons game and it is growing gradually, knitting itself to the Northam and will, when fuller, significantly increase the noise levels.

Happy Birthday Pilchards, hope you have a great party with jelly and ice cream and toys and games. :smt035:vom:=D>:smt031:supz::partyman::drinkers::smt030

Apologies, but really - wooooosh! It was just a flippant, throwaway comment (hence the smiley face), based on a mental picture of a packed end with thousands of kids making a heck of a lot of (high-pitched) noise to the point of deafening their parents/guardians - nothing more, nothing less. There was no implication of any kind, especially not to the sort of songs they may be singing. I was 12 when I first went to see Saints in 1968 and we used to run riot (in an innocent, childish way), in the Archers end, much to the annoyance of our elders, who weren't backwards in coming forwards to tell us to shut up and stop mucking about. In the time since, I have never been in a fight or had anything to do with any unseemly behaviour. I still sing (Kingsland North and away matches) but only those songs that support our team. With all due respect, you couldn't have got me more wrong, and the name-calling does you a dis-service. Merry Xmas to you and yours.
