From the BBC Website - Koeman comments... "It was two different 45 minutes. After the first I was unhappy. Millwall were fantastic, but we were sloppy. "But we did much better in the second half. We controlled it and finally scored the second one. The result is okay - but I won't forget the first 45 minutes." I think RonKo tore them a new one at half time, and will perhaps use the first half performance as a re minder to them going forward.

Taider played very well against Belgium in the WC - Kept De Bruyne and Dembele very quiet it has to be said, and was also very neat and tidy in possession too. I think he is very capable of forcing his way into the starting eleven.

Aldrweireld would be a class signing - Very good anywhere across the back line.

But why on earth should we have such a sense of entitlement to presume this is "our money"? It's not, it belongs to the Liebherr family, and it is through their continued benevolence that we can enjoy a premiership club that can more than compete against anyone in this league - As witness by our very encouraging display at Anfield. If KL wishes to keep back a proportionate return on the families investment, then she has every right to do so.

Delgado, Arias, Tejera, Chala were all duds Viafara was alright as was Guly Gazzaniga still has it all to prove.

I remember Lulic from the World Cup. A Bosnian starter and all energy left sided player (in an advanced type role) who got himself into a few goal scoring positions without converting, but I see his record for Lazio is not too shabby on the goal scoring front. Interesting...

Does this make me ITK in Bucharest now ?? Genuinely looking forward to an announcement today saying we have signed him - I think he could be a decent acquisition for us.

The problem is that Spurs do not have £20+m to spend at the moment without offloading some of their fringe players - And so far they have not done that either. It was a cheeky bid from Spurs, perhaps playing on the precedent set by others going and Morgan pushing the exit door, but so far it has been roundly slammed in their faces - Which I am pleased about.

As it turns out perhaps, but last summer we had no clue as to how good Lovren was either. He was a CB but largely rotting as an "in/out" player at Lyon and was not even guaranteed to be a number one choice for his country either - That Schildenhaeur bloke seemed to be ahead of him at the time. But as we know he turned into a fine player for us. No reason to beleive Gardos would not do so either - Lets face it does anybody on here know his play better than they knew Lovrens when he played for Lyon?? Not too many takers there I guess.

Big statement in spending £10m to buy him, but if he is as good as his price tag he will win us 6 or 7 more points a season with his contribution. I understand your point in not getting excited by a goalie, but I guess you soon know about it and suffer from it if you don't have a good one available for every game. With Fraser and Artur avaialble to us, that particular worry is alleviated somewhat

Ripley ?

Well best he finds his "Ready Head" soon, or he will have nothing else to do on a Saturday or Sunday !! If he goes then fine, but at our terms and at our price - Not one cooked up by Levy...

José Fonte signs new three-year deal with Saints
Foxstone replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Jose Fonte Baby !!! Top news.... -
Romanian so is bound to be technically good and more than likely comfortable on the ball. However, I know nothing about him otherwise but then again I knew little about Lovren before he came too.
-
He did great for us in our promotion season, and he really stepped up to score some vital goals when Rickie went of the boil in particular. Will always remember his time here fondly and I wish him every success.

Freudian slip I hope...

I think so Robbie. But add to that is that the higher the up front fee the more comes off the bottom line which would affect our cash flow somewhat. Yes we might nail the Rojo deal but it would probably preclude us from buying anybody else right now.
-
It is highly likely that we are receiving staged payments from Liverpool, United and Arsenal for the players they bought from us. It's normal. Lisbon are probably negotiating tough as they realise he is a very saleable asset and just like we did for Shaw etc, they will want to get the best possible price.

Taïder Joins on 1 year Loan & Osvaldo to Inter - Official
Foxstone replied to itchen_dan's topic in The Saints
He is completely versatile which is part of modern day thinking - Note Howedes is the Schalke centre back but played left back for Germany at the WC and Lahm as we know can play anywhere. Bertrand will be our starting left back this season and should we land Rojo, he is likely to start at centre back but has the versatility to play in other positions too. Rather than have too many players in specialist positions warming benchs and costing us unnecessary wages - Far better to have less players with more quality and versatility. -
Other than Chelsea (Fabregas and arguably Costa) and Arsenal (Sanchez), and excluding our erstwhile Saints at Liverpool/ManU and Arsenal, the acquisitions others have made are hardly earth shattering and in all fairness our 3 in so far match up to any bar the "Rich Clubs" ! Granted Hull have strengthened well but thats about it really. Just wondering why we panic sometimes...

Could not agree more

Always likely that one, but Van Dijk is the one I really want to see.

Seems to be given that RonKo has also quoted. Happy to welcome him here - he really is a decent player. -
Rodwell is too much of a risk anyway - Not played much and rather "injury prone". He has the ability to re-invent his career, but as for adding anything to us from the off, then he would not have so I'm not unhappy we missed out on him.

Rickie always delivers at some point.
