  1. Both very nasty. he is in for a long fight and I hope he wins it ! Good luck Paul
  2. And bailing out their banks !
  3. He made one hell of a contribution towards it though!
  4. The man was a blithering idiot ! Mikey "COYR" in his attempt to curry favour in a populist manner gave Georgie a higher budget to spend than vbirtually any other side in the CCC, and Georgie still could not construct a team. Woeful neglect of our achilles heel of a defence, paying top dollar for aged journeymen who delivered no return on our outlay, strange tactics, poor leadership, little discipline, apparant ambivalence and a demeanour one can only politely describe as un-inspiring ! Sadly predictable outcome for the Jocks I'm afraid.
  5. I think he is just the "invisible bean-counter" who does as he was told from above. I don't ever recall him having any say in club policy - Fiscal or otherwise so maybe he could still be on his first life..
  6. Fantastic ! Some great penalty takers and indeed some great players in that top 10 - And our boy came out on top as always- Even above Zidane and Brehme! Following also Daren's post - I still understand Hans Segers bears a grudge at the audacity of that MLT free kick!
  7. Interesting how fans views differ eh ? I personally thought him lightweight who was unable to adjust to the power and pace of the English game, and was therefore totally ineffectual.
  8. Indeed ! Another one of Georgie's wonderful acquisitions during our £7 million spending spree.... Some Manager's should never be allowed near a chequebook!
  9. Nah ! Sarf Londoners with a smattering from Dartford, Eltham and Swanley.... Same gobby chavs as Palarse's Streatham and Croydon types....
  10. He was the idiot Wilde's central policy of exciting the fan base at the start of the 2006 season, and the "on-pitch signing" and high wages he was paid perhaps did not reflect the fact that he was a good but not "overly good" player.. And with hindsight his "under-delivery" was not perhaps a surprise. Mind you it did'nt help Rudi that Georgie Boy could not fit him into whatever ridiculous system he was dreaming up on a weekly basis either...
  11. And deservedly so! His midfield drive has been something we have lacked since the days of Chris Marsden IMO... Cracking acquisition for us and he is delivering in style.
  12. I recall Duncan posting a few times that he had received generous support from AO in his role as historian.. He did appear to have some nouse and knowledge and therefore added some value. However, if Nicola can do without him then so be it! In Markus and Nicola we trust !
  13. Don't disagree with that! But Mawhinney did come across as a supercilious toad while he was announcing it. You might say it had all the endearing charm of a Rupert press conference when he was at his arrogant best!
  14. And there lies the answer ! Back then money was not really a major contributor to success and neither was the ability to attract some of the better players - Or Man Utd, Spurs and Arsenal would have had greater success than they actually enjoyed ! The key to success was great management - As witnessed by Shankly/Paisley at Liverpool where they pretty much engendered a dynasty, and the likes of the great Brian Clough, Bobby Robson and Lawrie Mcmenemy who took their "poor" provincial sides to heights that could not be imagined now in these days of "money buys all". They did it by great leadership, passion, astute management and an eye for a "hidden gem" of a player!
  15. I have always hated that phrase since that blithering idiot from Jersey used it ! But on this occasion I think it is very appropriate.. Top man Nic !
  16. A rousing "Aye" from me towards Le Tiss and Lawrie - Our most gifted and loyal player and our most successful manager to date. My opinion towards Crouch though is net neutral - He did financially support the club through its most dark spell for which he has my gratitude, but I cannot forget that he was a major player during the past 3 or 4 sh1te seasons where the leadership, positive decision making ( or lack of it) and direction from all the top people we had the misfortune to oversee our club was shockingly bad - And therefore he was a contributor to our slide around the "U-bend". In Markus we trust !
  17. Hahahahahahaaaaaa ! This is pure Karma !
  18. Amen to that brother !! For me this was just as important as re-generating the team. The destructive politics displayed by all of Crouch/Wilde/Lowe over the past 3 years ( and add into that the Hone factor), did just as much to bugger up the club as people like Burley and Redknapp and their careless management of the team. Until the arrival of ML and NC we were absolutely appallingly led and governed by ALL of the shysters! ML/NC have not only provided with an excellent managerial/coaching/playing set-up they have also shown how a football club should be led. Now there is hope, excitement and vision where before there was nothing but division and inertia.
  19. My sincere condolences on Ron's sad loss. Ron was one of the finest centre forwards I have had the pleasure to see. The irony for me is that I never watched him play in a Saints shirt but I did in a Norwich City shirt - I was brought up in that part of the world. I recall my Dad ( A Norwich fan) being incandescent with rage when NCFC sold Big Ron to THe Saints in the mid 60's - A sign to him that NCFC had no ambition while Saints did. His mood did not improve over the following seasons when during our ascendency, Ron was our goal scoring talisman, while NCFC continued to languish in the second tier. He is a legend at Saints, but also remembered with great affection in Norwich too - He scored a goal in every other game in his careers for both clubs and delighted tens of thousands of supporters in the process.
  20. As far as rhetorical questions go - I could not have worded it better myself !
  21. Another good club on its uppers - And can hardly be regarded as having overspent either.. Shame and I wish them well..

    Powell

Ah Darren with the amazing collapsable leg I was always confident once I saw his name on the MK Teamsheet !
  23. I have always taken the view that generosity should always bring gratitude but not necessarily favour!
  24. And that was quickly displayed following his hasty arrival and subsequent hasty and unceremonious defenestration by Hone. I remain convinced that all he wanted was glory and to put himself in the shop window as the " Dear Leader"! But he could not and did not add anything to the club at a time when it needed an experienced and canny leader - And many of our problems between the summer of 2006 and Markus' takeover this summer were down to his ineptitude in that early spell.
  25. Now I agree with that Duncan - Wilde for me was considerably worse than Rupert in terms of capability. While Lowe had plans ( some of them hair brained I grant you) but he did have some.. Wilde was living in his fantasy world of being the populist chairman where in essence he had no clue at all!
