  1. What's Shay Given up to these days?
  2. Adam Lallana, Jason Puncheon
  3. It is indeed, at one point the other day against Zaragoza (I think?) they had 11 players on the pitch which had come from their academy Valdes Montoya Puyol Pique Alba Xavi Iniesta Busquets Pedro Messi Fabregas
  4. Kelly Holmes won 2 golds in Athens and was knighted Mo Farah won 2 golds in London and only gets a CBE....
  5. not a bad shout, do we really need him though? would be good for improving depth of squad though
  6. Gaston Ramirez's position, can also play on the wing. we don't need him
  7. so if a club offered £15m-£20m for him you wouldn't accept it?? We could replace Lambert
  8. was also voted GK of the tournament at Euro 2008 IIRC
  9. 95% of them. Valdes/Pique/Puyol/Iniesta/Xavi/Messi were all there from the ages of 10/8/7/11/8/13 respectively. Most Barca players at 16-18 are sold on (mainly to Arsenal) then re-signed when they are in their early 20's
  10. Great servant to the club, fantastic pro and a cracking guy. Unfortunately, he isn't good enough to be our number 1 anymore, hopefully he'll be given a role at the club when he retires (I seem to remember someone saying that both KD and Jaidi were offered coaching roles)
  11. Personally, I couldn't care less whether he smokes/drinks/turns up late to training or crosses himself in front of Rangers fans, as long as when he plays for Saints he gives is all that's all I ask. It's well known in Spain that Carles Puyol smokes a Cigar everytime Barca win, and it doesn't really affect him does it? He's the best keeper ability wise and experience wise we have. 2 games and a little incident isn't enough to not play him, especially as the other 2 keepers we have keep making costly mistakes
  12. Those criticising Mr Abrahams, if I'm not mistaken, he called the Carroll to West Ham transfer long before it happened, was a good week before the original deal (which then stalled) became public knowledge. He isn't all just hot air. It's been doing the rounds on the internet for the past few weeks now. I don't think Lambert will leave in January, but every player has their price, and if the right amount of money is offered, I'd sell anyone
  13. slightly off-topic, but anyone booked tickets to go and see the 2 games at wembley in 2013?
  14. He looks solid defensively, especially for someone who isn't that big. I'm pleasantly surprised at how well he's settled into the English game. His passing isn't top notch, but other than that, he looks like a bargain for just £2m
  15. a point at stoke is a good point, however... that's 17 points we've dropped this season from winning positions, which really isn't good enough. We've improved recently, but can't keep throwing leads away (ie Today, Swansea, Norwich, Man Utd etc) or it'll come back and haunt us. IMO the players aren't fit enough, both physically and mentally, as seeing as our manager is a physio and keen psychologist/philosopher, that's worrying, very worrying. As is Adkins' so-called tactical ability, wrong subs at the wrong time again cost Saints. The players are learning, and I hope Adkins is too. He's done well recently, but I'm starting to fear the PL may be a step too-far-too-soon for him. Don't get me wrong, I like the bloke, and want him to succeed, but do I think he's good enough? based on what I've seen, I have my doubts. Anyway, the weaknesses have been pointed out over this first half of the season. An experienced keeper is a must (if Boruc is out of favor) An Experienced CB is needed, as is an on-field leader, Lallana (however brilliant he may be) will not be a suitable captain for as long as he has a hole in his backside! Anyway, on paper, a good point, we look better than a lot of teams down with us (Reading, QPR, Villa etc) and with the right signings in Jan we'll be fine. Special shout out to Guly, who despite missing a good chance, played very well again.
  16. Darren Bent would keep us up. Paul Robinson would be a decent keeper to sign. I think we need another midfielder
  17. based on his one and only penalty attempt for us v Blackpool, no, shocking penalty. I agree with you, why people obsess over Sharp is beyond me. When Lee and himself were fit, he couldn't get in the first team, so how people think he'd get in our team now is ridiculous? who would we drop? £12m Ramirez or an in-form Puncheon?
  18. if Billy was good enough we wouldn't have let him go out on loan.
  19. For everyone laughing at the pathetic turnout by reading. They did take 1,500 originally up there only for the game to be called off at 2:30
  20. No player in a Saints shirt, no matter how talented, or how well they have played in that game should ever be boo'd. FACT
  21. Cannot for the life of me seeing this happening, and if it does, I'd be worried. Firstly, he's a centre back havig to play in midfield for his club as they're short of options. Secondly, he's poor, no better than what we have (about same standard as Hooiveld) And his off-field behaviour says to me it won't happen. 3 agents in 3 years (one sacked him!), demande £60k a week at Bolton. Can you really see Cortese dealing with him? His file should be placed in the "no thanks" pile
  22. 6 points is very realistic here and needs to be gained after the disappointing performance against Norwich. If we can't beat Reading at home, we don't deserve to stay in this league
  23. Key words in the thread title are the last 2 words: "Daily Mirror"
  24. decent defender, his passing is poor
