An effective means of protest in the heart of Southampton ...
JackFrost replied to sotonjoe's topic in The Lounge
Exactly, I bet the surrounding public didn't have a clue as to what point they were trying to get across. IMO unconventional social activities when used as a protest or to make a statement just make the protestors look odd and would personally put me and a lot of people off from wanting to know their ideas or have any association from them -

A friend of mine is a regular Morrisons customer and nearly always pays with their card. She checked her bank statement this morning and discovered someone in Nepal had been fraudulently withdrawn a large amount of cash in 1 transaction. She went to Barclays to get it sorted out and one of the first things the (very pleasant and efficient) assistant said "Have you been shopping at Morrisons"? When the assistant rang the fraud department he asked them "Why did this not get picked up?" the faint reply was heard from the other end of the phone, "Well it doesn't look suspicious does it", to which the assistant put his hand over his eyes whilst rolling them. (Of course you can be shopping at Morrisons in the south of England and be in Nepal at the same time) Anyway apologies if this has been brought up before somewhere but judging by bank's reaction, this seems to be a well known scam (to Barclays anyway). Initially I'd advise anyone to avoid using chip and pin if they shop at Morrisons, but does anyone know if this is a problem purely with Barclays? Or does it affect all banks? Has anyone experienced this?? etc.

True but atthe end of the day we haven't heard Cortese's side of the story yet. I haven't seen the report, are we sure the Echo's report hasn't reported anything they couldn't have got from the public domain?

I thought his appointment was fairly regressive in terms of taking the club forward but TBH I wasn't happy when he left. In his 13 games he W5 D2 L6 (not a bad record) and the last thing we needed was the managerial revolving door at it's peak at a time when WGS left and some stability was needed. I can see why people didn't exactly take to him, I think the biggest factor in him leaving was a personality clash between him and Lowe. Then Lowe gets Jason Dodd knocking on his office and door and the rest is history. The unrest aside, Sturrock still had a decent if short record here and I wish he'd have been given til the end of the season

Munto Finance v Markus Liebherr (Notts County v Saints)

Don't worry their transfer embargo was gonna be lifted in a few days about a month ago lol -
Radio Solent was discussing Pompey going into administration this morning. Anyone hear it?

Yes he did, him and Nick Fullwell both got fined 500 quid. It seemed to be a 3 way brawl in which Andy Jenkins seemed to be the main protagonist. http://www.pdc.tv/page/NewsdeskDetail/0,,10180~1888005,00.html This is Andy Jenkins second offence, I think he also got fined for punching Mick McGowan a couple of years ago.

I do like it, but last night's show was rubbish. I was bored the whole way through I think the 3 are at their best when their doing one of those cheap car challenges, the one when they were pretending to be 17 year olds in the last series was very funny. I nearly died of laughter at the challenge when they had to go up the driveway in the middle of the night. Last night's show looked very much as if they'd run out of ideas. The only complaint I have against the latest top gears is they are too staged. The slapstick humour tends to be just too planned and rehearsed.

Don't know what happened in that incident but it isn't exactly his first offence either. I'm suprised the bookies are still taking bets with Taylor winning number 15

A record we jointly hold with Swindon I believe?

Don't underestimate the unknown, if Brazil don't turn up again like last time I can see a potential shock there

From what I've seen over the last few tournaments it's worth watching just for pure comedy value. It's so badly organised every year. I think last time year a player got injured, a medical bloke drove one of those buggies on and actually ran over a Nigerian player.

All they need now is Carol Vorderman They can then consolidate all their loans into one easily repayable loan and . . . . .

I was in the loft the other day and dug out Paperboy on cassette for the commodore 64. Must play that again sometime

TBF we're yet to hear your counter-argument yet. . . .

When you work for Peter Jones, his point of view is you either work or sleep, you don't do anything else. My mate heard a rumour that he pays several million a year to lawyers alone
-
TBH your very fortunate they've even offered you a new 1 year contract by the sounds of it. It sounds like behind the scenes you were amongst the cutback considerations and were spared. I had a mate who once did contractual work for Peter Jones (off Dragons Den). My mate said that whilst the pay was fantastic, Jones was the most unpleasant person he'd ever worked for, and by a big margin.

Wasn't Kobayashi linked with the Renault team recently? I really hope he gets a drive

With the recent weather I'd check it hasn't been blown or knocked and isn't pointing in a different direction to usual. Try a rescan as suggested above, if that doesn't work then if they've told you all of a sudden you need a new aerial then tell them that they must have made some change their end for you to need one. If they say they haven't their being untruthful either way. Also check with neighbours to see if they've had any problems, my digital signal got completely wiped out a few months ago and after a short investigation I discovered it had happened to everyone in the street. Was solved soon after BT went downhill years ago. Every other person I know has a nightmare with them.
