New Zealand Police are to review the firearms laws after it was revealed the gun suspected of killing a police officer yesterday can be bought over the counter or on the internet by anyone over the age of 18. Sergeant Don Wilkinson, 46, is believed to have been shot dead by a powerful, gas operated, rifle which shoots a pellet similar in size to a conventional.22 calibre rifle round. A colleague is in a comfortable condition in hospital after also being shot while the pair were engaged a covert police operation at a suspected methamphetamine laboratory in Mangere East in the early hours of yesterday morning. Police Commissioner Howard Broad said today he would be reviewing the Arms Act and the availability of air rifles "Policy responsibility for the Arms Act is actually mine so I will have a look at that." The New Zealand Council for Licensed Firearms Owners says airguns have become increasingly powerful, and some are the equivalent of hunting rifles. "Some of those air guns are as powerful as a high-powered hunting rifle," the council's executive director, John Howatt, told Radio New Zealand. "You need to have a firearms licence, training and be assessed by police to have a high-powered hunting rifle.

Apple's new MacBook Pro line-up might be grabbing all the headlines with its new Thunderbolt port, but the claimed battery life pales into insignificance when compared to that offered by HP. When running on the company's new Ultra-Capacity Notebook battery, the HP EliteBook 8460p is said to be capable of running for up to 32 hours between charges. http://www.gizmag.com/elitebook-claims-industry-leading-32-hours-battery-life/17983/ .

Perhaps not alone, more like in the minority of one. This was a very poor attempt at humour by trying to make up a quote similar to all those above, sorry

Probably a waste of time posting a clock showing how long before the Charities and Schools get even part of the money that they are owed.

Without wishing to tempt fate I can say that we live far enough away not to have felt any shakes from that Christchurch earthquake. However we have been in smaller earthquakes, the biggest was 4.2 and believe me that was quite a scary time. As for feelings we know people who have relatives who live down South and those that we have been able to contact say their family is ok but houses are very very badly damaged. We wanted to give blood but are unable to as we lived in the UK in the early 1980's (Mad Cow Disease worry ) Some more links http://nz.news.yahoo.com/a/-/top-stories/8882957/police-expect-multiple-fatalities/ http://nz.news.yahoo.com/a/-/top-stories/8887200/darkness-and-rain-falls-with-many-still-trapped/ http://nz.news.yahoo.com/a/-/top-stories/8887282/quakes-just-keep-coming/ I don't think that this earthquake is the last, I expect quite a few more - sad to say. In fact since the 7.1 quake last September they have had over 3,000 aftershocks. Wellington is now a concern as they are due one. http://nz.news.yahoo.com/a/-/top-stories/8886869/deadly-quake-could-be-sign-of-more-to-come/ Finally they only know of 65 dead but I am sure that will be increased in the hours to come especially after seeing some of the pictures on TV.

at the very least very close to being so and could potentially already be in it's final stages. We just don't know... There seems to be a good deal of confusion with regards to the definition of "High-Tech". More often than not people view the latest retail consumer gadgets as such and not understand what real State-Of-The-Art-High-technology is. Although admittedly what most civilians have access to these days such as Thumb-Drives-Flash-drives, Cell phones, I-pads-Think pads etc etc etc, these devices most often contain more computing power and memory per square inch than existed in the entire planet before the 1970s. Not to mention what we used to get to the moon. So depending on ones perspective, yes they can be viewed in that manner, However the rule of thumb is that what we as civilians know of and or use that is available to the general public is about 30 to 40 years behind what the various secret Black Budget projects are working on and have already developed. Keep that in mind! Link to full article and others :- http://www.abovetopsecret.com/forum/thread663600/pg1 I expect some won't like this and try and hi-jack the thread.

The Independent newspaper revealed that David Cameron had also set up a Cabinet Office Behavioural Insight Team. Formed in July last year, the secretive cell is tasked to "dream up psychological tricks to alter our behaviour" - and on a massive scale. The Independent article warned how the public is to be reframed or “nudged” into politically acceptable "Social Norms"; starting with healthy eating, voluntary work and tax gathering. While this may seem innocent to some people, these early ‘soft’ targets are already being greatly expanded to include wider central government ideological and political agendas, including Cameron's socialist straitjacket of the Big Society. Elite multi-millionaire Socialist and Tory Chancellor George Osborne has already signed up to Behavioural Economics - another form of mental reframing of individuals and groups, specifically to achieve political economic objectives. Their theory and intent is, that once mentally retrained, we “willingly rush to pay excessive taxes”. The danger is that we are to be trained to believe what our politicians and public sector - The State - says is right. And we will not even be aware that we have been ‘reframed’ to think so. Never mind the basics - politicians have been proved corrupt, deviant, liars - the Soviet Union would have paid in blood and gold for Cameron’s political mind-control initiative to lock people in a hive mind. http://www.ukcolumn.org/articles/british-cabinet-office-collaborates-french-brainwashing-guru-change-way-we-think .

Informant admits that he lied about Iraq's WMD program

Actually a lot of people now think that Mr Kelly didn't kill himself, he was murdered by a person or persons unknown. I can't be bothered to link to the names and the stories but there are lots. -
A few spots and pee'ing blood - medical advice?
Saint in Paradise replied to hamster's topic in The Lounge
Constant nose bleeds are not normal, could be the start of something serious so Hamster I think that YOU should also go and see YOUR Doctor. -
but I have to ask. I am maybe risking infractions as you are not supposed to start threads about 1 poster in particular but here goes anyway. Is "Deppo" really 2 posters not just 1 ? I mean "Deppo" can post very sensible posts then a short time after "Deppo" posts a lot of nonsence. As this is my 3rd post I am unable to post any replies for another 12 hours or so but of course I can read any from you.

Our neighbour has 2 free range chickens, they are allowed to go where they want. Result is that they come into our garden and eat the food we put down for our cats. The cats move away for them and just watch as their food disappears.

Saints 4 P'Boro 4 - Post Match Reaction
Saint in Paradise replied to St Chalet's topic in The Saints
I think that Mr Adkins is very brave playing KD and thereby thinking that KD will save his job. Perhaps he needs a quiet reminder that IF Saints don't get promoted he will be gone. We all know that a Football contract means not a lot. IF Mr Adkins thinks that Bart isn't good enough to replace KD WHY didn't he get another keeper in January ?? Tick Tock Mr Adkins you are relying on one man to save you. The other 10 are good enough and play good Football but they won't be always able to make up for the last line of defence person. Good Luck, you are going to need it. . -
A good keeper should never be beaten by his near post. Very very poor effort by him and it gives them a big lift.
