  1. Here is another excellent book Live and Let Spy BRIXMIS: The Last Cold War Mission By Steve Gibson Format: Paperback, 240 pages Other Information: Illustrations (some col.) Published In: United Kingdom, 01 January 2012 BRIXMIS (The British Commander-in-Chief's Mission to the Group Soviet Forces of Occupation in Germany) is one of the little-known elite spying units of the British Army. They were dropped in behind 'enemy lines' ten months after the Second World War had ended and remained operating their intelligence- gathering missions until October 1990 and then covertly until 1993, long after the fall of the Berlin Wall in November 1989. During this period Berlin was a hotbed of spying between East and West. BRIXMIS was established as a legitimate channel of communication between the Red Army and the British Army on the Rhine, they were trusted by the Russians. Its 'clean status' made BRIXMIS a key part of the Cold War. However, their missions were concealed by their diplomatic and liaison role to 'steal' advanced and they acted behind the shadows to steal advanced Soviet equipment and penetrate top-secret training areas. The book has been updated, with the passage of time, to reflect more acutely upon BRIXMIS, the broader intelligence function today, and what has come to pass for contemporary strategic decision-making. This unique history of this most elite of units offers a new understanding of the British role in the Cold War. The Rules of Touring Rule One - There are no rules. Rule Two - Think sneaky 'cos sneaky's best. Rule Three - Beware the wandering Sov, 'cos he's the one that's going to f*** you. Rule Four - Write it down now. You'll forget it later. Rule Five - The truth is a very powerful weapon. There is nowhere to go from the truth. Steve Gibson was educated at Lancing College and Birmingham University. Commissioned into the Royal Engineers in 1983 he was selected for special duties training and posted to a unit in West Berlin, operating exclusively in East Germany between 1988 to 1990 and 1991. A number of staff and military intelligence appointments followed before Steve left the Army in 1993. He was awarded the MBE as a direct result of his work in East Germany. 2. They are so deluded that they will never ever admit to cheating and if anything really bad happens, like liquidation, it will always be someone else's fault - not theirs.
  3. Well at least they are trying something and actually asking fans what they want not just moaning like some on here.
  4. My wife is going to buy the very latest iPad when it comes out soon. Is it worth while buying the Apple Care warranty or is it a waste of money ?
  5. Women can be crazy at times. See the video here:- http://news.msn.co.nz/worldnews/8736091/cheating-boyfriend-beaten-on-street A scorned young woman has been arrested in Hong Kong after she repeatedly slapped her boyfriend over his alleged infidelity as he knelt in a public street. The woman, who has only been identified as Cheng, 20, accused her 23-year-old boyfriend Chui of taking another woman back to his apartment, the South China Morning Post reports. In a video of the dramatic encounter, which took place on Friday afternoon, Chui can be seen pleading his innocence on his knees as his girlfriend interrogates him, refusing to accept his answers. The woman he is accused of taking back to his flat watches the fiery exchange, occasionally intervening to parry Cheng's slaps. "Listen to me first before beating me," he begs. "I told her not to come." After a few minutes, the scene turned even more bizarre as a group of bystanders joined in the domestic dispute, offering advice and urging Chui to get off his knees. Police eventually intervened and arrested Cheng. "Police who arrived at the scene arrested a female, aged 20 and surnamed Cheng, for common assault, " Hong Kong police said in a statement. "A victim, aged 23 and surnamed Chui, was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital for treatment." It is unclear if the couple have since resolved their differences or if last week's dispute marked the bitter end of the relationship.
  6. As the title says as I am sure Bearsy went to this "show" http://www.motherlondon.com/creative/project-bush On Thursday 3rd October, Mother London is launching Project Bush, a call to action for women to stand up to the pressures of modern society and present their bushes in all their glory. Whether waxed or never tended, young, old, black, brown or white, we want to display London’s lady gardens in all their variety, and demonstrate the choice that many young women –particularly – may not realise they have when it comes to waxing. Over the last month, Mother has been working with a number of feminist groups to launch a campaign to address the question of modern feminism - how does it manifest today, what are the challenges it faces, what does it mean to be a feminist?
  7. I think that you must mean the first Grand Prix Series which started in 1995 as several previous World Champions have been British starting in 1949.
  8. Who is that chap then ? Surely you meant Mr Channon ? I only posted because I is bored
  9. Looks like that is exactly what the army were then. Kicked the Police out first then got stuck in. Good luck with getting the real truth from Kenya though - "Kenyans are accustomed to corruption - their country is consistently rated as one of the most corrupt in the world" ‘‘It’s disgraceful,’’ said Maina Kiai, one of Kenya’s best-known human rights defenders. ‘‘It’s part of a nasty culture where power means everything, where you take what you can, you do whatever you want, and there’s no accountability.’’ ‘‘A committee of inquiry will be formed,’’ Shah said, sighing, ‘‘and nothing will happen’’. I would love to say I was surprised but I am NOT in the least. http://www.theage.com.au/world/kenyan-mall-looting-blamed-on-soldiers-20131004-2uymp.html
  10. Entertainment for Peter Rolih’s pre-wedding buck’s party was inspired by that famous scene of the woman expelling the ping pong balls in the comedy film The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. But this time the projectiles were not little celluloid objects but something rather more solid. And when the scantily clad exotic dancer performed her party trick – shooting dildos at the guests from her private parts, best man Darwin architect Jure Skumavc, 31, found himself in the firing line. As the Rupert Murdoch owned Northern Territory News reports this morning, Mr Skumavc was injured by the bullet-shaped, pink, sex toy – measuring about 12cm in length. Mr Skumavc was still sporting a scar on his forehead at Mr Rolih’s wedding nearly three weeks after being dinged by the artificial dong. The darting dildo drama unfolded on December 28 in a rented two-bedroom unit in Brisbane. Mr Skumavc said about eight other friends joined Mr Rolih for the party. … He said the pink projectile was flying an impressive 7m across the room and looping about 2m high. “It wasn’t a strong shot (when it hit me in the head),” he said. “It probably just landed on an awkward sort of angle.” “She was shooting it through the room from one corner to the other,” he said. “Other people got it in their chest and knees. I was the only one bleeding. It was my turn and it landed straight on my forehead. “She started apologising straight away but I just said it was fine … then I touched my forehead and there was blood.” Mr Skumavc had difficulties describing the tearaway toy in detail. “I don’t have a massive experience with dildos,” he said. The scars left by the offending object have since healed, but Mr Skumavc said the story was still very much alive. “People keep asking how close my face was (to cause that sort of injury),” he said. http://blogs.crikey.com.au/thestump/2011/02/12/best-man-left-bleeding-after-being-hit-in-head-by-flying-dildo/
  11. If you leave the M5 motorway and go onto the A358 at Henlade in Somerset be careful as the speed limit drops to only 30 MPH at the bottom of the slip road. It seems that quite a few haven't noticed this 30 limit and have been getting tickets for between 50 and 60. Double the speed limit could mean a ban.
  12. Here is a link to a petition asking them NOT to do so. http://www.change.org/en-GB/petitions/the-bbc-please-do-not-axe-the-sky-at-night .
  13. Man has penis amputated after Viagra overdose Beware then all those who use Viagra A Colombian man has had his penis amputated after he allegedly overdosed on Viagra to impress his new girlfriend. Gentil Ramírez Polanía, 66, was forced to seek medical attention when an erection induced by the Viagra lasted several days. Doctors in Polanía's hometown of Gigante were puzzled by the farmer and former council member's condition and referred him to a medical facility in Naiva, where it was noted his member was inflamed, fractured and displaying signs of gangrene. http://au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/a/-/world/19090660/man-has-penis-amputated-after-Viagra-overdose/

  15. Thought I would post this in Lounge as more people with iOS7 will see it rather than in Technology section. ( Thought it was only Microsoft that suffered glitches not the mighty Apple lot ) Two security vulnerabilities have been discovered in Apple's new mobile operating system, less than 24 hours after its launch. One flaw concerns a user's ability to recover their data if a device has been stolen. The much-vaunted "Find my iPhone" feature can be disabled by a thief simply by putting the iPhone or iPad into airplane mode, preventing the device from communicating. In iOS7 this can be done even when the phone is locked with a passcode, as the voice-activated assistant Siri can be instructed to carry out the task. The other flaw is potentially even more serious - allowing users' email and social networking accounts to be hijacked even when the user has locked and password-protected their phone. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-24170429 .
  16. Australia has seen the light and has scrapped their Climate Commissioners whom it would appear were always wrong with their predictions about Global Warming. http://blogs.news.com.au/heraldsun/andrewbolt/index.php/heraldsun/comments/flannery_sacked/
  17. What about UK motorcyclists being forced to wear crash helmets then ? What about UK Banks and many other places forcing people to remove items of clothing before entering said premises ? As for your statement about people being offended by what muslims wear well it is obvious you are not well travelled as if you had you would never have the nerve to say such a silly remark. Have to say that I 100% agree with every post Whitey has posted in this thread.
  18. Has anyone heard when the 5th generation iPad will appear please and is a 32GB device better than a 16GB? Only to be used for internet websites and for storing e-books. Thanks
  19. A US couple claims their dog alerted them to the fact their one-year-old boy was being physically abused by his babysitter. South Carolina parents Benjamin and Hope Jordan became suspicious of their babysitter, 22-year-old Alexis Khan, after their pet canine acted aggressively towards her when she went near their son Finn. Mrs Jordan decided to place a smartphone under a couch to record Khan interacting with their son. When the couple later listened to the recording, they were horrified to hear "cussing" and "slap noises", and the boy's "pain cry". They reported the incident to police and Khan was arrested and charged with assault and battery. "(But) about five months into her being our babysitter, we started to notice that our dog was very defensive of our son when she would come in the door," he said. "A few times we had to physically restrain (the dog) from going towards her." http://news.msn.co.nz/worldnews/8722912/dog-alerts-parents-to-child-abusing-babysitter ( includes link to a video ) .
  20. Sometimes here in NZ a person found guilty can still have permanent name suppression.
  21. Ok, anyone on here fancy that woman when they were younger ? The retired soccer superstar revealed he had a soft spot for Cherie, the wife of former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, to his colleagues while he was on international duty with England several years ago. Former Liverpool and Fulham soccer player Danny Murphy admitted having a crush on Dame Helen Mirren on TalkSport - the British chat radio station on which he co-hosts a show - before saying: "Many, many years ago in a treatment room with England, we were talking about this subject [weird crushes]. And David Beckham, I remember it well, guess who he said? Cherie Blair! The lads couldn't believe it." http://nz.entertainment.yahoo.com/celebrity/news/article/-/18854851/david-beckham-had-crush-on-cherie-blair/
  22. When I was still working I met several people from G.B. here in N.Z. that had left G.B. so that they could miss the Olympics. I also know quite a few N.Z.ers who also couldn't be bothered. To be fair I did meet a couple of N.Z.ers though who watched the rowing.
  23. Well you three are really Members of Parliament or at least workers there then. More than 300,000 attempts were made to access pornographic websites at the Houses of Parliament in the past year, official records suggest. It is unclear whether MPs, peers or other staff are responsible, House of Commons officials said. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-23954447 Oh dear I appear to have taken the "P" out of Spudgun.
  24. Lets be honest here and face facts. IF she was a target to be given a warning to or assassinated and this was organized by members of the establishment the people who carried it out would have been dead themselves within an hour so that they couldn't tell any secrets.
