Fans have short memories but so do football clubs. They have capped their season tickets at 7000. They have put their prices up, on average, by about £100 if that BBC report is correct (600 to 687?). So they are making an extra £700,000 off season ticket sales whilst promotion to the Prem League is worth millions plus they have the security of the parachute payments for however many years that is now. 700k is a drop in the ocean compared with the TV money they will get alone. Yet the prize for those season ticket holders who have stuck with them through some pretty awful times, sat there through 0-0 draws against Richdale on a cold and wet November night is that they have to find an extra £100 per person. Great reward for your loyal support Bournemouth. i can see why they are doing it but it doesn't make it right. If they end up a one season wonder and do a Wigan or Swindon or Barnsley and slip back to Div 1 or 2 no doubt those loyal supporters will once again become very important to them.

Brilliant show, the thing that really choked me up about it was seeing the way Matt was up and screaming at St Mary's as Mane scored against Palace a couple of months ago. For anyone who has any doubt about how much Southampton FC means to him watch that, a 10 second clip, it tells you everything you need to know. A lump in the throat moment for me.

Bournemouth dont need Rickie, scoring goals doesnt seem to e an issue for them, its at the back they need someone, they often looked dodgy to the highball and crosses coming into the area !
-
If the price is right I would keep him.
-
If someone had told me last August we would be going into the last match with a chance of finishing 5th, albeit a slim one, well I would have laughed long and hard !

Played for Villa, that's probably why he was on.

I really hope the actual BT coverage at half time makes it to You Tube

after the disgraceful way Cortese refused to even have his name mentioned in the match day programme etc after he was sacked it's nice to see, not for the first time, the current board righting the wrongs that made the club look, to put it bluntly, bloody childish. The biggest fault with NC in my opinion.

All this "looks like Stoke, Sunderland, Exeter, Brentford....." stuff annoys me. its a red and white striped shirt, we are not the only team that wear red and white shirts. how did people get on years ago when shirts lacked sponsors names, brand makes and even club badges. That was when all red and white stripe shirts looked the same......because they were the same !!!

Rodriguez has returned - BREAKING: NEW CONTRACT SIGNED

If Koeman doesnt do sentiment, not giving Kelvin his 300th game at St Mary's but leaving it until Man City away, I cant see him giving Jay 10 mins at the end of a match either if he isnt considered fit enough to contribute fully. Hope I'm wrong about both ! -
Paul Mitchell Southampton transfer genius?

Tadic has had a bad groin injury for a long time now. Messi wouldn't be as good as he normally is with a groin injury so to judge Tadic over the last few months is harsh. Let's see what he does next season when fully fit again. -

thats not in the 20 years he has watched Saints though so since 95 better than JayRod I would put: Beattie Pahars Lambert Admittedly there has been some ****e in that time but these three are better in my opinion. Beats a better finisher, Marian just pure genius and Rickie a better all round player. having said that its great news him signing a new contract. -

The best ? How long have you been watching Saints ? He's good but not THAT good. -
We havent scored many goals in the second half of the season. As soon as Forster got injured those clean shets were in danger of drying up so the 1-0 wins were going to be harder. And so its proved. No back up keeper is the root of it all in my opinion.

Would probably have agreed with you had I read this a year ago, this season he has been by and large fantastic though. -

Not many footballers these days think like that unfortunately. Greed plus massive ego equals no way will I fail mentality. i know it's rose coloured spectacles view but if you were a defender playing under one of the best defenders of the last 30 years why would you want to leave and not have him coach you and teach you how to become a better player ? That's the footballers mentality that I don't understand. -

Rickie was rarely in the middle last season, certainly not in the centre forward role, he was always drifting out wide. -
And everytime the club say something like that a day or so later a paper prints a story like this, almost like a two fingers up to the club cos a hack in London knows better ! Its strange with Morgan because in his interviews and tweets etc he is very positive, always talking about Saints getting into Europe and such like. For someone who is supposedly going its all a bit too positive. Of course he may just be playing a blinder so that when he leaves its not with a sour taste a la Lovren and the badge kisser.

Well I can only speak as I find, I have lived there for nearly 20 years now and whilst some of them dis-like us there are a fair few I speak to who are more than fair and look out for our results etc in the same way many Saints fans do with them.

I think one of the songs they were singing last night referred to them being above Portsmouth, didnt hear any mention of "scummers" so not 100% sure they "love" the blue few. They do call us scummers though, they want a rivalry, simple as that. And on the subject whilst the younger more gobby element call us scummers many of the older Bournemouth fans realise how much Southampton FC did for them when they were in dire straights, including helping them out with their pitch and groundsman duties when they had to sell their equipment etc.

Southampton vs Bournemouth Eastleigh vs Portsmuff who would have thought it ?

The New Forest derby is on then !
-
oh yes, lingering on the touch line with his bad knees intact, full of "we, we, we". He is fkin poison, watch out Eddie, new DOF looking for a job
-
Bolton have a good record recently at Bournemouth apparently........just a little something else to add to the supporters nerves! Good luck to them though, a great story and a great achievement for the club.

How do you know it's watered to the same extent as it's always been ? are you there from early each match day morning complete with stop watch, timing it ? Thought not, all you see are the sprinklers on before or after the warm up, that bit has been consistent but you can't know what happens earlier in the day ! As mentioned above the sprinklers were on at half time yesterday, that's not been the case for years ! perhaps you would care to explain why so many players, including two goalkeepers in the same place virtually, have been slipping of late ?
