To be honest even if he signs a 10 year contract in the next week there will be talk on here about him leaving before Christmas, after a defeat it will be "is he really that good" etc etc It doesnt matter what happens, people love to speculate and Saints fans, well a lot on here, want to believe the bad stuff and dismiss the good stuff. Even if the club announced every single day that MP, Shaw, Lallana and co were definitely staying then before the following day announcement according to some on here they would be leaving ! Such things as you discuss in your post, bargaining tools, are too subtle for the jam tomorrow brigade ;-)

Great for the teams with big squads in the Premier League, not so sure how teams like us, Palace, Stoke, Swansea, West Ham etc who dont have huge squads would cope with that, unless they mean scrapping the U21 comp and playing them all in that ! So no loan players for smaller clubs, B sides representing the club in League Cup etc etc.......no dont think its a good idea !

You seriously think comments he makes or in this case doesn't make to the media are going to unsettle the players who see him and hear from him everyday in training and in the dressing room ? I bet they haven't got a clue what he says in after match interviews and Press Conferences. You think they sit and wait for Adam Blackmore to post a link to MP's interview onTwitter ?

Can I just ask why everything Reed and Kruger have said about no fire sale, talking to MP etc etc has just been dismissed as crap and its all gonna go to hell in a handcart ? What have I missed ?

His level was League One...... he looked ok at the start of the Championship season but in the way a lot of promoted teams play better early on when they just go up they soon level out, and as a player thats what happened with Guly. The Premier League was definitely a bridge too far for him. Players like him and Fox got stick because they were out of their depth. Had he been moved on after the Championship promotion season in the way Hammond was for instance he would have been remembered much more fondly by many more supporters. He did a good job for us in our journey for sure, as has been mentioned the goal against Bristol Rovers ad one or two others were crucial. Good luck to him.

And for those saying MP has said the club haven't discussed contracts with him, remember he said he had no idea NC was going until the day it happened as well. He plays his cards close to his chest does Mr Pochettino.

Trouble with United is Fergie being ever present in the stands watching over everything. When he first went there he had the same issue with Busby sat there watching every week and it took him a fair while to overcome the added pressure having their then greatest manager looking on. Given that I'm quite surprised he has done the same to Moyes. It's bad enough following a legend without having that legend sat a few yards away. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see him make a come back, his ego is big enough.

The daily newspaper journalists don't know that football exists outside the Premierhip or they assume readers aren't interested in anything else so they have just 20 teams to write about. The big four, five or six are signing everyone in sight, the rest of the Premiership are just preparing players for them to buy, even Everton are included in that bracket. So basically every week one of the tabloids will write about Saints, especially as we have in their minds over achieved this season. It just gets tiring and boring after a while but if we want to play in this league thats what we have to get used to. Back in League One nobody remembered we existed. Most of it is the same wild guess work and fantasy you can read on this forum day in and day out. Ignore what the Chairman has said about nobody being for sale cos it doesnt fit the agenda some have does it ?

Isn't about time the people that write off Rickie after a bad performance learnt their lesson ? He wasn't that poor yesterday, Lallana wasn't exactly setting the world alight either. The only question I would ask with Rickie was with Jay Rod out why oh why didnt he play more through the middle with Lallana and Gaston floating either side......but thats more to do with the manager than Lambert. As for Gaston, I really dont know, he is an enigma, can look really good then can look awful. Produces some lovely touches and passes then can pass straight to the opposition with no pressure on him.

Been here since 1978 and have missed no more than a dozen home games in the 36 years since no matter what division we have been in. Seen a lot of great players in that time and seen a lot of dross as well. Fox comes in the secind category and dont fkin kid yourself that Fox was a major player in our promotion from the Championship ! Now I know its school holidays but get back to your homework you grade A **** !
