The Pinnacle in Race Against Time article is a sure fire highlight of when a newspaper hasn't got a clue what to write next. Its such a non story - like us they know there is a 3 week period of exclusivity, we all know when that is over and provided they are ready to take over it is a race against time to make all the changes they may want to make with regard coaching and playing staff. What a complete waste of print.....along the lines of the "who is going to be the next manager" article in the Pink on Saturday. Whenever I have seen or walked past Nick at St Marys on matchdays I have never seen him where any Saints colours. He always has neutral colours on. Its got nothing to do with this thread I'll admit but just thought I would share it with you all. Very strange for the "voice of the fans" to not be decked out in Saints shirt, or jacket etc, its always struck me as odd. Perhaps you rise above that sort of thing when you are at the centre of the media circus !!!!

The main difference is Shearer is manager up there and as so is responsible for the team, the tactics, the motivation of players etc etc. Matt will not have that role, that will be down to whoever he/they select as manager. Niall Quinn doesnt get ripped to bits when Sunderland are **** poor and Matt will be, I believe, in a similar role to him. So really comparing the two is not relevant.....besides the Geordies treat football as their religion, I think we are a tad more reserved down here !

Providing the takeover comes to fruition just consider the 400k as additional transfer funds. You can buy two or three decent players at this level for that money......given a manager who is familiar with this league !!!
