I'm hopefully going to finish my law degree within the next few months, and to fill up the spare time that will leave me with, I'm thinkng about learning a new language. At the moment I'm torn between a couple of choices with Russian and Chinese currently in the lead. Does anyone have any experiance of studying languages outside of school/college? if so, can anyone recommend a method? I was looking at that Rosetta Stone company, anyone had any experience with them? Cheers.

Debbie thinks about going to Dallas

It is legit, as is the microsoft ultimate steal. Generally though you need either an NUS membership or an ac.uk email address to use these sites. If you know someone who works at a University, you might be able to twist their arm into getting it for you.

I've got the 64-bit version, and it has been excellent, until last night when I got a BSOD when it tried to install updates hadn't seen one of those since ditching Windows 98! Now the 64bit system actually uses or recognises the full onboard memory though, it seems that my graphics card is the weak link in the system with a 4.9 on the Windows performance test. I know I don't need to, but I am going to have to buy a new card now!

The speeds are good, anywhere between 4 and 7Mbps even at peak times - I downloaded Windows 7 (all 3GB) in about an hour and a half last night, but there are things (like facebook apps) that just don't load at all or just really slowly. if this is likely to be the packet loss problem, might it clear up a bit as the line settles in? or doesn't that apply anymore?
-
I did the ping from the command prompt and the router, like Badger's, all showed I then did the pingtest.net tests again and it showed 25% loss, so I'm wondering if there's something in the test that's causing a probem  If there was a packet loss issue, would it cause problems opening webpages? i.e. certain content (e.g. facebook apps) takes an abnormally long time to load?

so a call to ADSL24 is in order then? And I was so chuffed to have gotten away from Sky too
-
I've just switched from Sky to ADSL24, and according to pingtest.net I am suffering from a 70% packet loss rate. Is this bad? Should I be worried? Can I do anything about it? Sky was 0% packet loss according to the same test, but as their peak speeds were in the region of 15Kbps I had to move!

For those of us lucky enough to have an ac.uk email address Windows 7 Home and Pro full versions are available from the Microsoft Ultimate steal website for around £30-40. That might just be enough for me to drop Vista Ultimate.

Headlines that won't be appearing on SSN or a tabloid: "Football in grubby financial dealings shocker" "Human being taking a chance at picking up a big windfall scandal" To be honest, what Matt did in the other 89 minutes of that game and the other 450 odd games in a Saints shirt is where I'll judge him thanks. The only thing I hope comes from this is he adds another few % to his sales figures, with the help of our whiter than white national media.

From the article you quoted it is kind of the issue. Did Libya just give the IRA weapons, or were they bought using donated funds (from whatever source)? If Libya are being asked to pay compassion/compensation for the weapons used by the IRA, what about the people who funded the purchase of the weapons? It's a can of worms that is unlikely to ever get resolved, certainly not in a manner that will give any comfort to the families of people killed in IRA attacks. Gaddafi may well agree to a compensation fund for IRA victims in the same way he did for the Lockerbie families, but at the same time why isn't some compassion being shown by our close chums over the other side of the atlantic?
-
I'd be interested to know if those 'irish-americans' who provided financial support to the IRA over the years will also be called upon to pay compensation to the victims of IRA attacks? or is that now a moot point?

Much harder than I thought it would be online, still stumped as to how you made me look so average!!!

I know it happened a lot on CoD WaW to start with, I didn't know it had got on to CoD4 though. I hope it's something they sorted for Modern Warfare 2!! I didn't know about the banning thing though, might give that a try next time I see it :smt036 Just looked up the cheats on Google, people getting 280 kill streaks, using aimbots, changing colours, removing effects (e.g. recoil). Why on earth would someone want to do all that!?!? or am I just too old fashioned?

I've just gone from the n95 to a HTC Touch Diamond 2 and apart from trying to find a decent web browser for it, I couldn't be happier it is a fanatstic phone and looks pretty damn good too.
-
Never got on too well with ebay, but might give that a try. Do Game still do trade ins?
-
I've built up a small collection of PS3 games that Im unlikely to ever play again (Tiger Woods 08, Assassins Creed, CoD WaW, possibly GTA4 etc) and was thinking about trading these in towards CoD MW2. Has anyone got any suggestions for the best place to get rid of them? and how much I might get for each?
-
It is metallic, so I think you might have just put the final nail in the DIY coffin
-
I suppose if it's not much over £100, it won't cost much more than to buy all the bits and pieces to do it myself!
-
COD4 & Killzone2 online. Sim City 4 and Civ 4 were always hard to put down too, oh and Final Fantasy 7 and 10 seemed to take weekends away from my life!!!
-
It's an 03 MGZS so probably not worth the sum of it's parts anymore, so the finish isn't critical. Money's a bit tight at the moment, so I was kind of hoping to avoid having to go to a specialist, though I suppose I could rust proof it until I've got the money. Anyone got any idea how much a body shop would charge to knock out a small dent and touch it up?
-
There's no paint left on the dent, the impact took care of that. A bit of rust has started to form, so I guess I ought to do something soon!? The car's not worth that much anymore, so in reality I'm erring towards the DIY option, so more looking for product recommendations if someone's had prior experience of this sort of thing?
-
I've got a smallish dent in a wheel arch on my car. Would it be easier to get a body shop to try and knock it out, or get some of that polymer filler, and respray? If the latter, can anyone recommend a product for the enthusiastic amateur? Ta.
