That is the true Southampton Way. Always making things difficult for ourselves. Still, a win is a win, but if we defend like that against City and Spurs there will only be one outcome.
Europa League is just a few extra games. What entices players is playing in the Premier League. Clasie, Van Dijk etc. didn't come here because we were playing Vitesse and Midtjylland. It was the opportunity to compete against Man Utd, City, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea.
Out of anyone I'd say it's Steven Davis.
But you make a good point, because since Lallana has left, we haven't really had anyone like that. Something that we're definitely missing in the side, that's for sure.
Van Dijk is by far and away the best but Clasie was hindered my his early injury. I think the second half of the season has been encouraging and hopefully with a full and fit pre season he will be even stronger come August
I never disputed the fact that, mathematically, they were catchable, I simply believed that, even before yesterday, we wouldn't be able to do it. Don't tell me my opinion was wrong because it wasn't.
My original point is that we won't catch Man Utd. It's only my opinion, feel free to disagree with it. Even if they lose this game, they have favourable fixtures in comparison to us and will maintain their advantage. I'm looking at West Ham and Liverpool as our rivals.
I think Man Utd will finish above us, even at this stage, 5 points is too big a gap for us to overhaul (soon to be 8 points with a win tonight). We are fighting for 6th or 7th with West Ham and Liverpool.
Everton's away form is much better than their home form, weirdly enough, and in a derby match form goes out of the window anyway. I reckon they might pick something up from Anfield.
