No one else sense the irony in this...?!
-
Ah yes, Mr Burns, I remember that now! I had forgotten the detail...
-
All 'we' have established, is that you, tajjuk and trousers have been going round in circles for the last 50 posts, while the rest of us wait for news on Wanyama.

Possibly - I do wonder just how important the club think replica sales are nowadays. In the same way that Season ticket income is becoming a smaller and smaller part of the overall revenue, replica shirt sales is presumably even less. Whilst it's obviously not just financial benefit that replica sales bring, it's marketing and 'building the brand' etc as well (in theory), I'm just not sure how much the club actually care about replica sales, or how much attention they'll pay to fans' opinions/sales.

OK, no point going much further with this, but I would say that most people, when reading this: would interpret that as having a bit of a go at those who are buying the shirt, because of your own opinion of it. If you think that is 'respecting their choice' then so be it.

I actually helped get him his international cap. 3 of us (can't remember who else it was now) from Saintslist interviewed him, and it was in that interview that he revealed his Irish Grandparent, which led to the call-up...
-
I'm referring to the individual, not the team. The fact that if a fan wants to buy a shirt to show their support for the team, then I respect that and don't see why they are 'getting what they deserve'. It's a shirt. I'm not a big fan of it either, but I think you're taking it a bit far to suggest some kind of 'karma' just because someone wants to buy a shirt. 'tis all.
-
I think we all get, by now, that you don't like it, but I do think a bit of respect for those who do, or who will buy it to show their support for the team, is due. Not everyone thinks the same as you mate.

Nah, it's gotta be owning the kits...

... said every owner and manager of Pompey just before each of the previous administrations.

I reckon one of those things is, actually, true...

Here's the latest Wanyama story from their website...

Global warming really is happening... (well, duh!)
Minty replied to 1976_Child's topic in The Lounge
It's quite frightening really (but no real surprise sadly) that people like Boris, in places of significant responsibility and influence, can't understand the simple fact that local weather is far far removed from global climate... -
I didn't think they'd claimed anything at all yet... I have no doubt there will be spin of the highest order (which I will, as always, ignore) but I do agree it would be good to know some of the thinking behind their kit design and choice. Just like anything else in life, even if we don't agree, it usually helps if a decision is explained to some extent. It won't happen, but I live in hope as always.

Same could be said for the whole forum to be honest...

If you join in on the kit thread, you will squander your future mental health...

Erm... well for starters I'm not counting, that was more of a general comment about my preferences, and I clearly stated my preference for stripes seperately. But as you raise it, we had the sash kit for 1 season, which was widely regarded as a positive thing, then stripes for our promotion season, and now no stripes this year or next, so that's 1 in 4 if you are counting, isn't it?
-
Apart from the subjectiveness of it all, the simple fact is that we look like various other clubs who will all be in the same/very similar template... which should be of no surprise to anyone really, least of all someone who studies kits to the nth degree like you do. Few clubs have truly unique kits in terms of the design, most are going to be variations on a manufacturers theme. FWIW, if that is the kit, I think it's 'ok', and certainly better than last seasons. Like many, my personal preference would be for stripes, but I also accept that there are only so many ways you can redesign the same thing, and unlike many it seems, I'm quite happy to see alternative styles from time to time.

'Shooting the Saints' - old photographs of Southampton Football Club
Minty replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
I think I remember Dan - he was working for Solent News Agency with Paul Watts, the current club photographer, at the time I was working with Mike Atkelsky who was the club 'tog back then, and had been for many years. Nice guy, used to chat to him at most home games, and the Cup Final, seems to have done really well for himself since, which is great. -
Ooh, Mark Wright, whilst at Derby...
-
Dave Watson completes the six from the 1982 match. I think Alan Shearer captained England at some point. Stuck on the others though. Probably from the 20's or something...
-
Give it a few weeks of the season and they may not physically be able to look down on anyone anyway... except the Blue Square perhaps. That would be funny.
-
Quite. Pretty good motivation to improve though.
