  1. Game live on BT Sport 1, kick-off at 6pm. England vs Lithuania @ Portman Road
  2. Today's update... ...two years ago today, Rickie Lambert scored the equaliser in a 1-1 draw at Pride Park against Derby County.
  3. Morgan has been asked about this before on SaintsPlayer. He said although he almost feels English because he has been here so long, he could never play for anyone other than France because it wouldn't feel right for him, or for England fans.
  4. Link: http://translate.google.com/translate?sl=fr&tl=en&js=n&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&u=http%3A%2F%2Fkickoff.blogs.lequipe.fr%2F%3Fp%3D1003&act=url I was going to translate and post the article in here, but it was too long! So, I have added the translated link above. Good read, these things tend to pop up during the international breaks. Morgan seems a bit disheartened not to get the call for France last season. I did think when they had numerous players out and Morgan was in the best form of his time at the club that it was his chance. Hopefully, like Lambert, it will come in time. Hopefully not at 31 though... Thoughts on the article?
  5. So, The FA's comission to address the flaws in the English game and at The FA, especially in terms of coaching, development and nurturing of young players is now in place. The members are as follows... Greg Dyke - Chairman of the Football Association Roger Burden - Vice-Chairman of the Football Association Greg Clarke - Chairman of the Football League Dario Gradi - Former football manager/coach/academy director Ritchie Humphreys - Chairman of the Professional Footballers' Association Glenn Hoddle - Former player and manager Danny Mills - Former player - (why is he on it?) What are people's views on this? Will it make any difference? I don't see why Mills is there... glad to see Dario Gradi involved though.
  6. #OurJourney is a new social media feature, where the club will post regular media content online that documents Saints' rise up the leagues and back to the Premier League, via the medium of YouTube. I decided to post the initial entry here, and if people like the concept, I would like to try and keep the thread updated (between us, as and when we see the latest instalments) as the feature continues. Over time, it should develop into a great little thread with various nostalgia trips from our time in the lower divisions. Four years ago on the 9th of October 2009... Saints won 3-1 at Southend. [video=youtube;ZmRCW8ZeI-Y] Let me know what you think of the concept of 'Our Journey', and whether you think we should keep the original thread updated. Thanks.

  8. The latest instalment. [video=youtube;ZZD-mMWDiYc]
  9. Complete non-story, and wise and sensible of Dani to have seen the story and nipped it in the bud relatively early on. It's ridiculous that it even came to Dani needing to comment on it. I've been impressed by Dani so far as well, very intelligent player and good work rate.
  10. His defensive duties are superb. He shields that back four so well, he displaces attackers, breaks down their attacks and is tenacious in the tackle and physical aerially. He's not a marauding ball-player, but he's very good at the defensive stuff. Hey, we're 4th and have lost just one game. Victor has most certainly played his part and if Saints finish Top 7 or 8, he has been worth it.
  11. That's the thing in football, you need to know how to play each game We knew our opponent would try to get back We were able to withstand that We learned today, how to execute another type of football When you are winning, we knew that Swansea would take different risks to us They were opening themselves up We have to understand games and how to play them We are establishing how we want to play Today we didn't play as well as we wanted, but we got the result we wanted I'm very happy for everyone at the club (for the best start to a season) This is just the start of something Lallana is a great player and a great guy Adam has a lot of passion for this club His performance was fantastic today The whole team gave an amazing performance Adam works so hard to try and score and today it happened The only one that may not travel for international duty is Luke Shaw We'd rather he stayed with us for now, he's not well Gaston is fine, he was just left out of today's selection
  12. I've always taken the view that I don't mind. If they pass the fitness tests, which to be fair, are pretty stringent - I am really not too bothered. It's their life, their body and their choice. If that coincides with earning a great living whilst enjoying their career and habits, good on them.
  13. My bad for the other thread, turns out a senior football reporter got duped by a fake announcement. Sorry for another thread, best to lock and bin both!!! Apols
  14. Martin Jol sacked by Fulham...
  15. As is traditional, here is a review of our opening six games... Played - 6 Won - 3 Drawn - 2 Lost - 1 Scored - 5 Conceded - 2 Clean Sheets - 4 Points - 11 out of 18 Position - 4th Place ...and the best thing? I don't even think we're playing as well as we can...
  16. Dani Osvaldo's first goal for the club and Rickie's thumping free-kick was his 200th career goal. Some really good stuff second half after a blunt first. Comfortable victory really. Thought Wanyama looked much better today and plugged the gaps well. The floor is open...
  17. Diamond formation? Wanyama holding, Schneiderlin and Davis central, Lallana behind Osvaldo and Lambert?
  18. SAINTS: Boruc; Clyne, Fonte, Lovren, Shaw; Wanyama, Schneiderlin; Osvaldo, S. Davis, Lallana; Lambert. BENCH: K. Davis, Chambers, Hooiveld, Cork, Ward-Prowse, Gastón, Rodriguez.
  19. Good to see Saints getting some exposure in Italy. I'm not sure about his hierarchy comments, but it's a nice read.
  20. Stelling lives in Winchester I think. His boy(s) support Saints too.
  21. Sounds brilliant Duncan. Have shared on the not606 forum to widen the exposure for you.
