  1. It was always a slightly fanciful signing if we’re being honest. The guy had been retired for six months and been playing in a league which was much less intense, so some of the suggestions that he’d be our fittest player and should go straight into the starting XI as captain were a tad optimistic. Having said that, I had hoped he might be good for 20 minutes here and there, so it was a bit sad to see what he actually produced on the pitch. I’ve never subscribed to the ‘great lad to have in the dressing room’ philosophy, especially after recent ‘contributions’ from Lallana and Walcott but I’ve no doubt he was at least a small positive influence on our squad. Good luck in your retirement Rom!
  2. Good luck to him. We knew it was a risk when we signed him, if he had been fit in that first season he’d have been a hell of a player for us. Ultimately though, he has been here three years and even now he looks gassed after 60 minutes and can’t start two games in a week. I doubt that’s going to change after he turns 30 in a couple of weeks. People wishing him injury need to grow us, that really is just sad. His contract expired, he’s well within his rights to leave. It’s like reading Liverpool fans whinge about Trent, all over again.
  3. I believe Ghana had to fight for their right to Partey.

Another senior Russian general gets his tits blown off in Moscow. How sad.
  5. Somebody commented that Bayern fans were unanimously happy to see the back of Peretz and thought it was strange. I don't think it is, for reasons I've already explained. If you think Bayern fans are all wrong, you're welcome to sign up to their forum and tell them that the goals he conceded against Mainz or Kaiserslauten or whoever, "would have been six with Bazunu in goal FFS!" then you crack on. So far, all we know about Peretz is that he's decent at this level. So were Vydra, Armstrong, Rasiak, Kelvin, Akinbeye, Holt, Bednarek, Fox, Hooiveld and countless other players I CBA listing. Hopefully we get to find out in 15 months or so that he can make the step up better than the other players I mentioned.
  6. He hasn't been 'cancelled' he has stepped down after some pretty serious allegations from multiple different sources. It's clearly in everybody's interest for him to step away from running a football club whilst this is investigated. I'm not sure what's, "holier than thou pearl clutching," here either, what he's been accused of is pretty serious. Guilty or not, I'd like to think that 99% of people would never do the things these women are claiming.
  7. The books are going to have to be balanced somewhere, I’d much rather do this and keep players like Scienza. We got promoted before with Aribo, Smallbone and Downes, we can get promoted next year with JWP, Bragg and Downes. There would probably be a fourth option too, for a reasonable price or on loan.
  8. It’s a plausible rumour. He’s basically finished at West Ham, one year left on his contract and Nuno obviously doesn’t think much of him. We probably wouldn’t be able to afford his wages, but I doubt the Hammers would get 100%from anyone else. Selling Jander and Charles whilst getting JWP on loan for 75% wages makes a lot of sense financially, we probably make £40m net profit out of it.
  9. Breaking news: Bayern Munich fans opinions don't pivot around an Irish GK who has never played for them. Peretz has only ever made four appearances in any top division in his life, conceding five goals. It's perfectly understandable that Bayern fans don't rate him up with Neuer and Ulreich. They are used to seeing one of the best goalkeepers in history, week in, week out. Their standards will be sky high. If someone inexperienced came in and made the mistakes Peretz did against Charlton, Preston, Ipswich and Doncaster, they aren't going to be as forgiving as Saints fans.
  10. They support Bayern Munich, one of the biggest clubs in world football, with expectations of winning the Bundesliga and aspirations of winning the Champions League. Peretz is a decent Championship player but then so were Jan Bednarek, Adam Armstrong and Danny Fox. If by some miracle one of those three ended up at Bayern, the fans would almost unanimously agree that they were sh*t.
  11. Was it Taylor the club made a really elaborate, special forces action thriller style video, just to announce he’d signed a one year extension? I’m pretty sure it was for one of our reserve keepers round about the Koeman/Puel era and was quite laughably OTT.
  12. Makes sense keeping him as back up. I can imagine we're paying him a fair bit less than Baz and McC, which is something which we'll have to factor in this season. A decent amount of experience at this level which will be useful, should Peretz pick up a knock.
  13. The F1 coverage’s obsession with Kim f**king Kardashian, like it’s somehow a privilege for the sport to have her there.
  14. I'd say that was true of Larin and perhaps Matsuki but the two you've mentioned have performed better in previous seasons. Archer scored 11 in half a season previously and Edozie scored 6 and looked dangerous before getting clobbered at Norwich two years ago.
  15. There is absolutely no way we can afford to have Peretz, Baz and Ramsdale on the books next year. I’ll say with near certainty that the latter two won’t be here one way or another. We’re going to need back up keepers and Long fits the bill, having been here half a season already he’s a known quantity and has nearly 300 league appearances.
  16. I don’t edit the BBC sports page, so I’ve no idea what you’re asking.
  17. I’ll pass thanks. Looked poor in the Championship last time and has done nothing at Juve or Everton to suggest any improvement. His whole reputation is propped up by four goals in 2023.
  18. A Championship club being kicked out of the playoffs for cheating is ‘front page’ news. A Championship club signing a goalkeeper isn’t.
  19. I don’t think a 6’1" 24 year old with 23 league goals is going to be either of those things, at least for another Championship team. He’ll most likely end up at one of the promoted teams or somewhere like Leeds or Forest. We have to balance the books this summer, I don’t think we’re going to be seeing £15m+ signings, especially a striker when we’ve just signed Larin.
  20. All this talk of a third signing has got me thinking. Do you reckon we can get #announcehackney trending on Twitter or would that just be really immature?
  21. Awesome, it’s aboot time we announced this, buddy!
  22. SR signed Ben Brereton Diaz, Juan Larios and Nathan Wood to play PL football. I’m not sure you need an ‘agenda’ to criticise them.
  23. If you say so, I've read all this before and I don't just mean Bazunu. Bialkowski in 2012 - "We have to pray Kelvin never gets injured, we'll never get promoted in goal." Then we went up, had a revolving door of goalkeepers and people were slating all three of them, Gazzaniga in particular. Even Boruc copped a lot of flack in our first season up. Then there was FF, post injury when he had his mental health struggles. Save percentage about the same as Baz people were saying he was the reason we lost the 2017 cup final. Stekelenberg, everyone hated him, 'statistically the worst keeper in the league' etc. McCarthy, one howler after after another. If you think Baz is bad then literally every manager who's had a choice has picked him over McC. Two of them decided to swap keepers eventually, there was no improvement and both got sacked six games later. Then there was the absolute meltdown on this forum when we signed George Long on loan... well that's what's coming in a few weeks when we sign another 'backup' keeper. Baz is the worst keeper we've ever seen in the football league... since the last worst keeper we've ever seen and until the next worst keeper we've ever seen.
  24. There are plenty of bullies out there who only pick on one or a couple of people in any given social group. Most of them will only display such behaviour to people they feel are beneath them and are in some way weak and powerless. I don't believe Tonda to be an inherently nasty person. I'd like to think he doesn't needlessly belittle people out of spite or ego. Nevertheless the reports about his behaviour certainly suggest unpleasant behaviour in coercing junior staff members into tasks they weren't comfortable with, which fall outside their job description and indeed the laws of the game.
  25. Bazunu wont be back up. He's a 24 year old RoI international who will want to be playing regular first team football, which it's pretty clear he wont be getting here. He will leave this summer, hopefully permanently and we can get a decent fee for him. I know I'd be p*ssing into the wind trying to argue that Bazunu is not infact the worst goalkeeper in the football league and I'm not going to bother. However, if you think we're getting better to come and sit on our bench, you're likely to be mistaken.
