  1. Our team is absolutely stronger with Liv in it. For a start it’s a 40 game plus season and there will be injuries and fixture congestion. You can’t expect KWP to play every minute of every game at 90mph. Even putting all that aside, Liv is a fundamentally better player. By all accounts, we have looked at a DM but the right player wasn’t available at the right price. GK I’d imagine came down to wages. We still have two on very expensive contracts, I doubt we were willing or able to add a third, who’d want at least as much as Forster.
  2. You don’t understand why we bought Livramento for £5m? That’s like saying why buy a Ferrari for £100 when we really need a new bathroom.
  3. Has she has a baby with our new defender? They’ve basically got his nomination video for the ceremony already made. An upbeat montage of the goals we scored on the way to the final, a soundtrack of Three lions interspersed with commentary about England, "running riot in the quarter final," (they won’t mention it was Ukraine), beating Germany and winning the group without conceding. It’ll end with a tear-jerking slow-mo of Gareth comforting distraught players after the final and shots of fans crying in the stands. This is then followed by a voiceover explaining that he, "also had to lead the team through much darker times," accompanied by grainy images of headlines about racists tweets, then more slow-mo of the players kneeling and angry Hungarian fans, this time with a sepia filter. I can’t see Raducanu beating that, personally. She hasn’t had the slow swell of support, built up over years of near misses that someone like Murray had.
  4. Why, he was forth choice at Spurs before he came here and barely getting a game? He’s not some coveted superstar we who’s out of our league. Saints are about his level and he’ll have to fight for his place, same as anyone else. Anyway, we’re four games into the season and he’s played 90 minutes of two of them.
  5. Why? It’s going to be an emotionally exhausting season if you’re praying for supposed relegation rivals to lose after three games.
  6. A shoe in for the young category but on the basis of popularity it’ll probably go to Southgate or Sterling.
  7. I’ve never believed in The Vaccines, personally.
  8. Mixed feelings on that. If it’s accompanied with a picture of King Charles then they should leave it be. On the other hand I think we can do a bit better than stuff like this.
  9. Whenever anyone posts this before a game, it’s inevitably Saints blowing out their backsides, chasing shadows and looking like they’ve come straight here from Yates by the 70 minute mark.
  10. Emma or herself?
  11. Fairly obviously; Vlasic will score two goals, which win the game, and be heralded as the next big thing in the media and the missing piece in the Champions League push by Hammers fans. He won’t score again all season.
  12. People who are incapable of loading dishwashers. They’re not magic, if the crockery is all piled on top of itself, the jets can’t get to them.
  13. A lot of people, to put it bluntly just hate themselves and project their insecurities onto others. I’m sure most of us have been in an unfortunate relationship at some point in our lives, where there was an element of that going on. I’m no psychologist but it’s probably some sort of desire for control, esteem and not to be seen as the bottom layer of society. I guess it’s hard to understand for people who haven’t been there but it’s probably little different to a teenager smashing up a bus stop because his alcoholic stepdad beats him up.
  14. The problem with that is anyone can just register a free, anonymous account in barely two minutes. You can delete and ban certain users and their material - and they should - but it won’t achieve much. It’s bad enough on this forum, banning some prat and 20 minutes later an entirely new ‘persona’ is arguing with the same people on the same threads. The problem with SM is it warps people and their perspective on life. I could quite easily delete all my accounts, which I scarcely post on anyway, if I was getting any kind of hassle. On the other hand, I saw an interview with whichever one of Little Mix quit, where she said she was getting loads of abuse, considered suicide (apparently) and only after an intervention of some sort with her loved ones, did she finally delete her SM accounts. I always treat these ‘I thought about killing myself’ stories with a pinch of salt but the fact that someone would say that BEFORE deleting their Twitter is in itself quite alarming.
  15. It’s genuinely sad to see, as well as being a Saints hero, I was under the impression he was quite smart and humble, up until Covid. A brief glance at his Twitter feed, which I’ve long since unfollowed, shows he’s rehashing the old, ‘it actually kills fewer people than flu’ line. To show how just how reasonable and ‘open minded’ he is, he has also disabled all replies from anyone he hasn’t contacted first.
  16. TBF it’s no different to people like Adams, Fox and Quashie suddenly being ‘Scottish’.
  17. So what are we renaming Henman Hill / Murray Mount now?
  18. I still think Southgate is just McLaren but with a couple of world class forwards and nicer fixtures.
  19. Yes, they had to deny an awful lot of conspiracy nonsense back in early spring, that we were going to be locked down forever and they were conditioning us for the ‘new normal’.
  20. What, like getting everyone vaccinated and opening up he country on schedule so that we can pretty much go about life as normal?
  21. Sometimes Darwinism gets a little help, it would seem. Perhaps we should start a rumour about rat poison or petrol curing Covid but ‘they’ don’t want you to know that, might move this pandemic on a little.
  22. Part four of ‘fixtures we never win’. I’d take a point.
  23. I believe he was referring to consent, rather than any structural issues.
  24. I think we should just borrow the honey wagon from an airport.
  25. After the Euro penalty shootout a number of people were arrested or questioned by the Police regarding the racist tweets. I believe it was only around 35 who could be ascertained as being in this country. I don’t know how many of those people were charged but I don’t get the impression this is being ignored by either the Police or the FA. I agree though, FIFA and UEFA need to take a tougher stance with closed door matches and competition bans for certain clubs and countries.
