  1. That’s different to the point we were discussing. Mutations won’t necessarily be more or less dangerous. It’s a long haul trend that the most infectious strain which takes the longest to kill its host (if at all) will become dominant. As an example, if giraffes with longer necks are more likely to survive, that doesn’t mean a giraffe is more likely to give birth to a calf with a longer neck.
  2. No, that’s not how evolution works. After a protracted period of time, the more benign variants are likely to kill fewer of their hosts and therefore survive longer and spread more. Any given mutation could be either more or less dangerous than the last, we’re better off having as few of them as possible.
  3. That’s nothing, I was on a GNER train a few years ago and the conductor made an announcement saying, “the buffet cart will be open shortly, serving a range of hot and cold drinks as well as light refreshments.” ...but I wasn’t hungry. As a person who had literally just eaten breakfast, it was one of the most horrific acts of discrimination I’ve ever been subjected to.
  4. Aren’t we currently on course for the largest economic growth in the Uk since WWII?
  5. Very similar tackle to the Vest one against Leicester gets overturned by VAR.
  6. Hmmm, it’s almost as if we were right to stick to the cautious lockdown easing plan and not rush to open everything immediately.
  7. Cool, well I’ll make a note to not do that then. 🤨
  8. No idea what point you’re making, I’ve never suggested otherwise. Men and women both have their problems and both have some resources available to assist them. The difference is, I’m not claiming the world is biased against men because we haven’t found a cure for baldness or erectile dysfunction yet. As FTF pointed out, women have HRT and that didn’t just fall down from a tree. An awful lot of research goes into that and if there was a ‘cure’ for menopause somebody would be making tens of billions from the 3.5 billion customers worldwide. Even if big pharma don’t care one iota about women’s health, greed alone would have pushed them along.
  9. I was referring mostly to the bit about women being a burden if they are not being pretty or giving birth. Men may not have periods but we are three times more likely to commit suicide so clearly something about our make is causing hugely increased levels of mental health problems.
  10. Was she the one advocating for a 6pm curfew for men a couple of months back? She seems to have some serious self loathing issues. Most of the women I know lead rich, fulfilling lives; pretty birth-givers or otherwise.
  11. Either way I can’t see our 4th choice CM being anything more than a prospect of some sort. Nobody already decent is going to come to Saints for the sort of cash we’re able to allocate to filling that position.
  12. Too far to commute, assuming the stories about him still living in Surrey are true. It'll almost certainly be one of the London clubs.
  13. Probably but we have a very regressive, 1950s attitude towards mental health. A bit ‘Cuckoo Nest’ with electric shocks and lobotomies.
  14. This is all standard stuff for most clubs, I’m not sure how you’ve arrived at the conclusion we were ‘desperate’ about anything. Selling our reserve LB for a considerable amount of money allowed us to spend it in another area which was a priority. I vaguely recall it being Adams who was signed not long after Targett left, Djenepo arrived early on in the window. In any case it was all part of a transfer strategy for that summer and allowed us to spend in other areas which were a priority, I.e. a shortage of goals up front. Why you the professional recruitment team of a Premier League football club will not realise we now need a LB and ‘suddenly’ realise on 1st July I’ve no idea.
  15. You’re on it.

  19. You should be a lawyer. 'It's really blatantly obvious that my client is innocent your honour. If you can't see that with your closed mind then I'm not going to bother explaining it to you. You need to do your own research.'
  20. Cheers for seven years of excellent service. I think this is a good deal for all parties, he'll provide cover for a bigger/richer club somewhere but realistically he'd never be able to play consistently with the intensity we need and we can't afford to keep him purely as back up.
  21. I think Boaty McBoatface was all the warning we needed as to the perils of democracy.
  22. I’d go along with this, he was always an option and his movement looked intelligent, even if his own delivery was sometimes wayward. It’s quite easy to see why he was left on. Ings was puffing and needed to come off, we’d already subbed Bednarek and our game plan was, largely, working okay. For weeks people have been asking to see him given a consistent run of games to prove himself. Where better than in a non-event against Palace.
  23. Well, that was an actual comfortable, professional performance in the end. Forget a new owner, manager, head of recruitment, ‘keeper, striker and LB. I’d forgo all of them for a decent psychologist/hypnotists who can get their flippin’ heads straight and play like that more often than not.
  24. Booking for a frustrated Zaha, I think that’s all the Palace cliches ticked off.
