Not had a ST since the Championship season due to work and financial commitments. Thought about getting one again this year but nothing I've seen yet makes me want to part with my hard earned. I'll need more than selling our best player, a failed bid for a Championship midfielder and the man who got sacked by Stoke, in order to part with £700
Because JWP has played under a better manager on many occasions and looked little better than average. If Adkins, Pochettino and Koeman couldn't get a consistent performance out of him in 4 years, I doubt he ever will.
1. I agree with.
2. Sounds like we did everything right and it was a personal/geographical choice.
3. He is anything but consistent and if his mind is elsewhere, sell him.
Why the long rant about Les? If Tadic wants out, sell him and get the best fee when can. That sounds like exactly what we're doing (I don't buy the release fee rumour).
I'll be annoyed if he leaves but wont blame anyone, especially after the whole VVD debacle. We need 100% committed players.
FPP - Fit and Proper persons test, not FFP.
I'm no accountant but that cannot be legal. Surely if ever there was a blatant front for money laundering....
I thought the whole point of FPP was to stop stuff like this happening. Otherwise I'd have gone down To St Mary's myself and 'bought' the club with player sales for the next 5 years.
I really don't get it either. People say we need to sell to buy but we have sold and massively so.
If it is true you have to wonder where clubs like Palace are getting an extra £200m from in the net spend table.
The VVD situation was a typical management committee decision, which compromised to find the middle ground for everyone but ended up satisfying nobody. Either keep him and tell him to get his head down for another season or sell him and have done with it. Dragging it out until January merely ensured we had an unhappy Virgil in the dressing room for 6 months and no suitable alternatives in January when the market is quieter and more expensive.
It was the same with Carrillo. Either sack MoPe (obviously the right decision) or back him. Signing Carrillo, then sacking the only bloke who actually wanted him six weeks later was just daft.
A release clause means we have to accept all offers of £15m, regardless of whether there is a higher offer. That's why I can't see this being true, it would be madness to put a £15m release clause on Tadic.
Ah, Russia Today. No doubt this video of three drunken idiots, singing songs about Spurs fans/Jews, will be served up as justification next time 100 Russian ultras beat the living sh*te out of some innocent bystanders.
The only thing they've got which trumps us is larger crowds, which players rarely seem to care about. On the flip side we're much closer to London, which has much better flight connections to Belgium and seems to be a factor in a few transfers.
