Gabbi is J Rods replacement Boufal was Manés I really hope Stephens isn't Fonte's replacement but he probably is. Defoe is too old Smalling and Delph are crap and expensive Hojbjerg is probably expected to step up this year, much like Romeu did last.

Doesn't even have a Wikipedia page, must be sh*t. Wigley out!
-
Christ, did you really bite on that one?! Glasgow - I hope you develop a fascination with Thai ladyboys and all your shool friends find out about it.

Naivety? Why has he agreed a fee of £15m already? This will end two ways, we keep him or sell him for an absurd amount of cash. Not sure what else you're expecting.

I can't understand how anyone in this situation would hold out for a loyalty bonus. There's greed and then there's taking the p*ss. I hope the club realise they've got his balls in a vice with this one. If he really wants it, he will have to hand in an official request sooner or later. He's hardly going to miss out on his big move over a loyalty bonus when he's going to get paid £170,000pw.

With you on Hooiveld, Fonte looked no better in our first season back up. Never got the chance to see him play between Bertrand, Forster, Virgil and Wanyama, rather than Kelvin, Fox, Fonte and JWP

Other Premier League Transfers - Deadline Day

According to whom? -
I really can't see us buying anyone from another PL club, with all the money being thrown around prices are just getting silly. We won't be spending £50m on a player when there are other options abroad for half that amount.

If someone offered him the chance to finish his career at Liverpool, he'd bite their arm off. -
I personally like ketchup, with some buttered soldiers.
-
We'd just have to hope he doesn't score any own goals for the national team.
-
He's better in his role than Targett. I'd say it was more like being happy to have Tadic than Steve De Ridder.
-
More specifically on a golf course.

Not sure why this was deemed necessary with 4 years left but hey ho. Anyone who thinks FF is a liability clearly has memory issues when it comes to Kelvin and Gazza. He may have the odd mistake in him but unlike the others I don't evacuate my bowels whenever the ball goes back to him.

Thanks for the info. I personally reckon we'd take £70m if somebody did come in with a late 'OVNO' at the end of August.

In a Utopian world we'd have all our business done a month before the season started but transfers aren't like that. Never have, never will be. I'd compare it to the housing market if anything, you can't just buy a house and move in tomorrow, there's a chain of other deals which will likely have to be agreed before a sale can go through. Other clubs will be holding out on other bidders, we might be holding out until later because we know a club wants to sell and we want to drive the price down. I'm sure it has occurred to Les and others that VVD would have been useful in that 2-2 draw at Newcastle or the 3-0 defeat at home to Everton. However, it is better to wait for the right player at the end of the window, rather than the wrong player earlier on. Boufal is evidence of nothing other than a player struggling to adapt to the English game. People said the same about Gaston, he missed pre-season etc. We've now been waiting 5 years and counting for him to perform. -

He was responding to a post about bring in players early and used Boufal as an example. His lack of impact has stemmed largely from his injury and attitude. If we'd signed him on 1st July, he'd have been no more effective last year. Obviously we'd want all our signings done before the first game but that's not always practical. It also doesn't make late signings any less effective. Didn't Lambert come in after the season had started and score twice on his debut? -

Agree 100%. No more sh*tty, desperate, deadline day signings, like Mané, Alderweireld and Van Dijk. -
How would you feel if no one left but we didn't sign anyone else?
Lighthouse replied to Bad Wolf's topic in The Saints
We're stronger than we were at the beginning of last season. In MG and CA we have two very capable goalscorers and in Gallagher a promising young player. If we're playing 1 up front, that's enough; if anything I believe we have a surplus in Shane Long. If you're expecting us to have 5 strikers on the books come the end of August, you are likely to be highly disappointed. Creating decent chances, that's a different matter. -
In the sense that he has never done anything like it before or since and that if he tried again 100 times it wouldn't go in. Great goal but hardly his trademark.
-
Only because Pied had a long term injury. He is very much Koeman's Paul Telfer.
-
That's how I remember him. I think that goal gave him confidence in the second half of that season but he is not a Premier League level player.

You can sign 2 but have to release 4 - Who goes?
Lighthouse replied to Sidney Fudpucker the 3rd's topic in The Saints
Easy - Long, Gardos, Clasie, Targett.
