How would you feel if no one left but we didn't sign anyone else?
Lighthouse replied to Bad Wolf's topic in The Saints
I wouldn't be devastated but I'd still like to see 3 out 3 in personally. Clasie to be replaced by a more physical, mobile midfielder Long to be replaced by an attacking midfielder. Someone with pace but more talent. Gardos out, another CB in. I'm not happy that Bednarek seems to have replaced Fonte -
Not sure why so many are picking Boufal. He's done bugger all to warrant a place in the team so far and his attitude stinks at times. FF Cedric - VVD - Yoshi - Bertrand Romeu - Hojbjerg JWP - Tadic - Redmond Barry Obviously Hoj hasn't done much to warrant a place either but the two main differences are his attitude and that right now we don't really have a better option.

So you're saying we shouldn't have loaned Toby in?

Don't forget Pompey, we're miles behind them. -
Zoltan Liptak. On the rare occasions when he made it onto the pitch, you just knew it was going to be utterly hilarious.

Isn't Long the Irish Marian Pahars?

I think that's one of those 'pirates cure cancer' stats.

They've also won 6 tournament knockout games in the last 50 years. 3 were either pen or AET, the others were against Denmark, Ecuador and Paraquay.

He'll be about 33 by then, can't say I'd be wetting my knickers over that. We didn't exactly miss him when he left. Can perfectly understand Rooney's decisions although I'm not entirely sure how popular he will be with fans. Whilst buggering off to play for Man Utd would seem an obvious career move to him, I doubt the Scousers were all that enamoured with the situation. -
Agree with this. It's tragic but I hate how it's become almost a soap opera in the media. The number of people on social media talking about how devastated they are and in tears all night, over a boy they've never met, is getting a bit silly.

I don't know enough about RLC to compare styles but if it was the option of selling Clasie and bringing him in I'd be happy enough with that. There's nothing to say we can't buy him at a later date, like we did with Bertrand.

If he's better than what we have then it's an obvious and cheap way to improve the squad, we don't have to make money out of every deal we do.

Not sure how happy he is competing with, Mirallas, Bolasie, Lennon, Morgan, McCarthy, Lookman, Gueye, McGeady, Davies, Barry and Besic over 4/5 spaces in their team. -
Really hate when people say that. The two are completely exclusive, nobody has ever compared a dying child to the problems of a football club. RIP Bradley and all the others lost too soon.

You've got to hand it to alpine, people are still taking his posts seriously.

His comedy numbers aren't worth discussing TBH. He has also left out Shaw for £31m (a world record for a teenager at the time) and Chambers for £16m. We'd probably have got at least £60m for the pair adjusted for the new TV deal inflation. -

Nonsense, we both get good prices for our players. Everton are open for business, same as any other 'selling club'. Fellaini, Rooney, Lescott, Peinaar, Arteta, Stones. They've sold the lot and RL and RB will be next to go. Stones went for £50m because he is young and English, same as Sterling and Shaw. We got £16m for our reserve RB a few years ago and £14m for a striker who's done nothing for 3 years. -

Which is basically the point I'm making. Players don't go to clubs because they are 'bigger.' -

And yet if we'd offered more money to any one of their signings, they'd have come here instead. -

They have a larger stadium and a richer owner. Other than that they've won nothing for about 25 years and have generally competed with clubs the size of Saints, West Ham etc. in the middle of the Premier League. If we're talking about league titles won over 30 years ago, yes they are bigger. As are Forest, Preston, Huddersfield and Wolves. -

Bigger is such a nonsense word. Everton are a richer club. That's it. -

Not really, they're just a lower budget Man City or Chelsea. It's a long way from a guarantee that Pickford, Keane, Klaassen and Sandro are any better than Forster, Stephens, Tadic and Juanmi. They all look good on paper but they've got to replace the likes of Lukaku, Barkley and Jagielka. Looking good in relegated teams is one thing but they will have to step up big time to justify their prices. To me it just looks like they're splashing the Lukaku/Barkley money on finishing 7th again next season.
