Two... And even that assumes we make it to a domestic QF this year. -

If I was being pedantic I'd say McCarthy was replacing Gazza as Stek was only ever cover for Fraser's injury but I largely agree with your post. A few people seemed to think that we'd replace everyone we sold and 'strengthen' with 3 or 4 others. That was never going to happen. -
If Austin and JR are starting to look vaguely fit, I think we are okay. With Boufal, Redmond, Long and Tadic that's 6 pretty decent options. It's a big 'if' but there are goals in this squad. Mané and Pelle were good for 20-25 goals a season, combined. I'd like to think we can get something similar from the players we have now. 6 each from Austin, JRod, Boufal and Redmond should cover it.

Can't agree there, Hojbjerg looks excellent so far. I think with more experience Rom can cover the physical side of Wanyama's game, without spending 1/3 of the season having an early bath, suspended or generally not being a*sed to play. I can see why some aren't convinced but 'much weaker' is an overstatement.

Overall I'm fairly satisfied with the squad we have, it's only the tactics I'm concerned about.

Charlton 0 Saints B 0 - Charlton Win Extra Point On Penalties

In a way I wish all drawn games went straight to a penalty shoot out. Would at least add some excitement to the end of a 0-0 with Stoke. Extra time is tedious bull crap anyway, if the first 90 minutes is a non-event why drag it out another half hour. -
He is average when he's unfit and recovering from injury. Which is most of the time.

Thread title sounds like a West Indian cricketer. A shame Gardos isn't involved in the game. Edit: just seen someone beat me to that joke. -
Sorry, that sounded more sarcastic than it was meant to. It would depend on whether his attitude affects morale within the team. If he came here acting all big time Charlie, talked down to other players and never put that much effort in, it probably wouldn't help our results.

Oooooh, Slovenia. The media rave about the 2 or 3 decent games a season he plays a season because he's English and plays for a big club. The rest of the time he's either injured or recovering from injury and way off the pace. If he was Polish and playing for West Brom, nobody would touch him with a 10ft pole. Average player, huge wages, always injured and a d!ck.
-
If my aunt had a penis... He has never stayed fit, he's had bad injury problems his whole career. The fact that Arsenal are willing to let him leave on loan suggests they don't expect much from him this season either. We have Hojbjerg and we won't be signing Wilshere. We sign players when they are needed, not just because they are good and available.
-
So we can pay his wages whilst he sits in our treatment room? No thanks.
-
I'm doubtful he's still got it at Championship level TBH but would be great if he did.

The time to worry isn't when we fail to take our chances against Watford and Sunderland, it's when we're getting out played by those teams. 4 years ago when we were being outplayed at home by Wigan and letting in 6 at the Emirates, that was what I found worrying. When we had Guly and Seaborne on the bench, instead of Long and Yoshi.
-
Why? He's not played enough since leaving here and looked all over the place against Liverpool. Boro is probably about his level right now. Besides, we have 3 RB, even if one is injured.
-
Cellophane Boufal! Good to get this deal wrapped up.
-
Leeds have been through 3 different managers in half a season, why is it so hard to believe? If you really believe what you're saying, try being crap at your own job for 2 months. I think your boss may have a rather unpleasant surprise for you.
-
Did you watch the following four months?
-
TBF it was being widely rumoured by ITKs and some press outlets. Not gospel but managers have been sacked for a lot less than 8 defeats (and a draw at home to Villa) in 10 games.
-
To put things into a bit of perspective, we looked much closer to being a good team than Sunderland or Watford. A Watford supporting mate said we should have battered them and Sunderland barely troubled us other than Defoe suckering Fonte into that penalty. We look better in defence, even without Bertrand, than we did at Newcastle and at home to Everton last year. We've also created some decent chances, which we failed to do in the 0-0 at Watford. West Ham, the self proclaimed 'big team' in London, have faired little better so far. They looked no better against Chelsea and City than we did at Utd, where we were hardly battered. They got a late win at home to a very poor, 10-man Bompey.

That dance should be a capital offence. Every time I see it I feel like putting my foot through the TV, more so if it's against Saints. It's right up there with the David Norris goal for me. Changing subject, Aguero still can't speak English?! He's been here over 5 years now, surely he could piece together a generic footballer interview. They all use the same half dozen cliches FFS.
-
Equalised much sooner than we did last season and Fonte didn't get sent off. Massive signs of improvement.
-
I think if Hooiveld had played as Fonte had these last 2 games, he'd have been crucified on here. A pointless comparison I know but he has hardly been the experienced Mr Reliable thus far.
-
A half decent offer from a big club and he'd be out the door in a flash, same as anyone else.
