Loyalty by definition is turning down better offers. I can't say that I can recall any which he has turned down since joining us.

I can't see any reason why the club would sell him if it was detrimental to our season. He's not like other players, if he runs his contract down he will be 34 and pretty much done with football at this level. Would a deadline day replacement be that bad if he ended up being younger and just as good? A couple of games with Yoshida isn't going to kill us.

Why would be agree to any kind of late deal whereby we don't have a replacement lined up?

If I were in the boardroom, I'd be perfectly fine with him not signing a new contract. We're only really offering it to him as a reward, don't see why we'd give a sh*t if he doesn't sign.

I wish we could have replaced him during last seasons trip to Bompey. Or the home defeat against Spurs, the trip to Palace, home to Everton and Villa and Sunderland, the Palace cup game... You get the idea. In the past 2 years Lambert, Lallana, Alderweireld and Schneiderlin have all been 'irreplaceable'. We'll cope.

I'd agree with this. Redmond for Mané is the only area I think may be weaker but the latter only turned up for about 15 games last year.
