  1. No, you are right with that definition. If that's the same as what I am saying then fair enough, it is gross negligence. I just feel it should be distinguished from being simply lazy or careless as you are actively choosing to put lives in danger for no valid reason.
  2. I wouldn't argue against it if using a phone whilst driving was given a similar punishment. Texting certainly is lethal. The difference is that someone might spend 30 seconds of an hour long car journey distracted by texting. A drunk driver will have impaired judgement and reactions for the entire journey.
  3. You could list a hundred distractions to the average road user. Kids, pets, music, food, whatever. We've all had a text whilst driving and looked down to see who it's from, or changed the radio, eaten some God forsaken Ginsters pasty from the services. etc. etc. I think there should be tougher sentences for people caught using phones. Food not so much, I'm perfectly capable of eating a sandwich whilst driving and never looking away from the road. Drink driving is worse than any of them IMO because it impairs your judgement, coordination and reaction times for the whole duration of the journey. It would be like looking down at your phone writing a text for the WHOLE time you were driving. I don't see why the punishments should be less than attempted murder. There is no need for ANYBODY to EVER do it. If I ruled the country I would say it's 10 years in prison and if you don't like it then don't drink drive.
  4. Perhaps, I'm not expecting this to be the law and I'm sure there is a lot of legal waffle about why it couldn't be made the case. I just see it as being that bad on a moral level. To me it is in the same mindset as walking into a school with a gun and shooting in random directions. You might not be trying to kill anyone but you are wilfully committing actions which very easily could kill someone. I would say it's worse than simply negligence. To give another example, supposing you were the safety inspector in some form of industrial gasworks. A negligent man would not bother to check a safety value, leading to a big explosion. Whereas drink driving would be like deliberately opening a safety value for no reason, knowing that it would release explosive gasses. Sorry if these examples seem odd, I'm just trying to show how I think drink driving is worse than simply negligence.
  5. Chambers at fault for Stoke's first goal, then s/o later on. Lovren unused sub Lallana and Lambert ineffective according to Merson.
  6. I think a few teams have raised their game against us this season. QPR certainly put in their best away performance at St Mary's. Leicester too were anything but crap in that game. West Brom were pretty resilient too. On the flip side Newcastle, Sunderland and Swansea (okay Bony) all put in a stinker so I guess it evens out.
  7. Shame we didn't get to see Lovren vs. Altidore. The stoppable force against the moveable object.
  8. This is just a little bit amusing.
  9. Or maybe it just shows that Yoshida isn't as bad as some on here would like to believe. He has been thrown on against Arsenal and Man City due to injuries and done alright. Sure he has looked nervy and made a couple of mistakes but you would expect that. It would be wildly optimistic to expect Southampton's back up defender to make it look easy against Aguero and Sanchez.
  10. Poor old Brompey, 3-0 down after 20 minutes.
  11. Newcastle win Pardew out
  12. So deliberately doing something very dangerous and not caring if you kill anyone is nowhere near as deliberately trying to kill someone in your opinion? To me it's the same. If your kids were run over and killed by a drunk driver and he came up to you and said, "look I didn't try to kill them, I just don't give a sh*t that I did," how would you feel? That's what it comes down to, a dead person is dead whether you meant to kill them or not.
  13. Well, the German's have just the thing. It's their latest 'erotic carp calendar'. No boob loving angler should have to live without. NSFW http://www.bild.de/regional/bremen/angeln/erotischer-karpfen-kalender-2015-38288726.bild.html
  14. Just to add, the two sports I'm into at the moment are football and paint ball. Now, there are a small number of female regulars but as a sport it is firmly in the manly category. Just a casual observation but the kind of women I meet paintballing probably wouldn't be seen in high heels at a One Direction concert.
  15. What kind of stuff have you been drinking? Obviously it varies depending on a person's mass, what they've eaten, metabolism etc. but from most sources I've ever seen/heard 2 pints is roughly on the limit. I obviously don't think people should drive around over double the limit. Why would you pretend that I think that? Explain.
  16. Having enough alcohol in your system to cause any kind of judgement. I've driven after one pint plenty of times because I know it has no effect on my judgement. I'm not saying the limit needs to be changed, I'm saying people who break the limit should face tougher sentences. I believe the Police allow a small margin of error below which they don't prosecute, I don't have a problem with that. The fact is that most people could probably drink two pints and be around the maximum limit. I don't see why anyone would ever need to drink more than this and then get behind the wheel. Anyone doing so should face severe penalties IMO and they would only have themselves to blame.
  17. Actually no, I pretty much follow the speed limits and I've never been pulled over for speeding. I just don't see people doing 80 on a motorway as a problem. I do have a problem with people who chose to drive whilst drunk and are apparently not bothered if they kill me or anyone in my family.
  18. I would say the number of people killed by actual speed is far lower than the statistics would suggest. It's more often a case of going too fast AND being to close to the car in front, going to fast AND another car pulls out without looking in his mirrors, going too fast on icy roads or going too fast in bad weather. Sure the is a reckless amount of speed, like doing 50mph driving past a school but you have to be a significant margin above the speed limit to be dangerous IMO.
  19. If I Google her am I going to come across (50 innuendo points please) some weird fetishist porn?
  20. Nobody has ever been killed because a vehicle was doing 71mph. 70mph isn't the edge of danger it's just some arbitrary line in the sand which someone decided was the safe speed for a motorway. 60mph would be safer, so why not have that as the limit? Reckless driving in general is what I'm again. I would feel much safer in a car with a sober driver doing 100 on a motorway than I would with a driver who had 4 pints.
  21. Perhaps but I don't think there should be much distinction, if any, between intent and just not giving a sh*t if you do kill someone. If you drink drive you are basically saying you don't care if you kill someone. To me that is as bad as saying you want to kill someone. To me, someone who doesn't care if they run over and kill a couple of children is no better than someone who deliberately goes out to try and kill.
  22. I used to play badminton a lot before I eventually got bored last year and gave it up. There were a lot more male players at the club I played for than female. Certainly there were only 2 or 3 women of any decent standard. Not sure where the whole 'weak' thing comes from as a decent player can't half hit a shuttle. Sure it's lighter than a tennis ball but you hit it just as hard. The only sports I can think of where women outnumber men are netball, hockey and equestrian. I would say there is probably an equal interest in athletics but almost every other sport is male dominated.
  23. I don't think we need to change the limits, just have harsher punishments for people who break them. They are the problem, people with a blazé attitude and just don't seem that bothered. I think the punishment for drink driving should be no different to that for attempted murder. The punishment for actually killing someone should be no different to murder. At the moment the maximum sentence for drink driving is 6 months, which is hardly ever handed out due to overcrowded prisons. Can you imagine someone being given a £5,000 fine for attempted murder? These are the current penalties https://www.gov.uk/drink-driving-penalties
