  1. Dodd and Gorman got sacked after a cup defeat against Bristol Rovers a few years ago. Some fat Scouser scored the winner against us.
  2. So you're looking at about £3m extra for winning the LC, compared to reaching QF. It good but it's not massive, less than 3 league placing's in prize money. Compare that to the league last season where Newcastle finished 16th. If they'd won 1 game that they lost (and with a slightly better GD) they'd have been 11th and been £6m better off. If we could have found a winner against Stoke on the last day we'd be £2.4m better off. With such large sums of money balanced on such fine margins in the Premier League, it's of little wonder teams rest their best players for cup competitions.
  3. Aside from Arsenal, no he doesn't. If you were at Stoke you would have known the wind that day was something ridiculous and he just got caught out completely by how far it took the ball. He was stood in exactly the right place to catch it 99% of the time, any 'keeper in the world could get caught out by that. Gazza makes silly mistakes under very little pressure. His clearance straight to Remy was reminiscent of his pass straight to Nathan Dyer at St Mary's last year, which lead to a goal and 2 points dropped. He might come good but he isn't reliable enough for the Prem yet.
  4. I don't see why we're wasting all this money on a squad of 25 players. Surely if we're going to play our strongest team in every game we only need 11?
  5. So you would rather watch a tournament featuring the Champions of Iceland, Moldova and Montenegro but left out Real Madrid, Arsenal and Dortmund?
  6. I don't think anyone is particularly excited about finishing 4th, it's the opportunities that will then create for the club. Being in the Champions League would attract better players, which would help us compete better in the Premier League. With a stronger squad we would also be able to put out a stronger team in the cups. Our second choice team at the moment probably features Kelvin, Yoshi, Jos, Fox, Guly, Cork, Gaston and Lambert. They were probably in our first choice 11 last seasons, so it's hardly giving up on a game playing them.
  7. I'm willing to bet "Premiership" was the bit that p*ssed you off most
  8. Spurs will be the first of 4 games in 14 days. 6 games in 21 days would be pushing it with our squad and 3 key players already injured.
  9. To become a coach.
  10. I don't see any reason he would go back to the bench when Boruc is fit. Let them fight it out for the #1 spot. Davis can retire, Gazza can go on loan to some Championship club.
  11. We have, Gazzaniga. However he isn't ready for Premier League football yet so we need someone else.
  12. I just wish they would go back to the good looking, pre 2009 cars but with DRS and unlimited KERS. I quite like the idea of drivers having their own number, if it makes them more recognisable. Stuff like Giles Villeneuve as 27 and Nigel Mansell having red 5 stick in my mind. It's not like we're really losing anything by changing them as the numbers are pretty meaningless anyway. You can't even see them.
  13. Tahar vs Dyer was pretty brutal. Had echos of Massing vs Cannigia about it. Didn't really cost us the game though so not too bad from a Saints POV. I'm sure Dyer disagrees.
  14. The brace he scored at Highbury was pretty handy at the time.
  15. Hoddle's last game as Spurs manager was against us. We got him sacked after winning 3-1 at the lane, Beattie scored a belter of a free kick.
  16. That would be 5... 2 goals and 2 assists from my dream team captain
  17. 4-0 down in their own back yard. 6-0 at Man City. When they don't turn up Spurs, they REALLY don't turn up.
  18. Straight red for Paulinho!
  19. Put this Spurs defence under a bit of pressure and large cracks start to appear. JRod and Lallana should have fun running at this lot.
  20. Misses the West Ham game midweek I think. Sandro injured now, would be helpful if he missed the game. I remember Morgan nearly knocking his head off in this fixture last year.

    Jay Rod

I thought that too. Seems to have found the net recently but yet to properly impose himself on a game with more than one goal. Definitely improving as a player and u hope Roy doesn't give up on him because of one poor performance against an excellent Chile team. Has a lot to offer England but I fear the much less consistent Welbeck will be chosen ahead if him.
  22. Obemwinge and Lukaku were always going to be hard to replace so their relatively poor form isn't too surprising. Agree though it's harsh on Clarke.
  23. Surely Davis is undroppable the way he's been playing. I'd have him in the 3 behind Osvaldo along with JRod and Lallana, the latter 2 being in excellent form themselves.
  24. I think the mistake was keeping Davis personally. Fair enough if he wants to be a coach here eventually but I don't see why we kept him on as one of our keepers. Gazza at least is young and has the potential to improve, although I have seen little so far to suggest he is Prem quality.
