Your worst away day from our time in the wilderness
Lighthouse replied to dune's topic in The Saints
The first Swindon game can't be the winner, the weather was lovely and it was barely an hour up the road. The performance maybe, but for the overall package I think we're looking a lot further North somewhere and in winter. -

Of the ones I've done: 0-0 With Wycombe in our first L1 season. Just dreadfull, their pitch was basically a sand pit and we never got started. 5-0 Defeat at Hull under Pearson 1-0 Defeats at Swindon BOTH times. I actually went again for a 3rd time last year in the CC. Was determined to break the jynx, we only just did it. 1-0 Defeat at Leeds under Pardew. A moment of genius from Snodgrass punctuated an otherwise soul-destroying match. Was absolutely FREEZING to boot. 2-1 Defeat at Colchester. Another freezing cold none event from Saints. This time in a soulless ground in the arse end of nowhere. The fog was funny for a short period. 2-0 Defeat at Rochdale and the traffic on the M6. Meant to get there 2 hours early for some drinking, barely made it in for KO, whereas the players didn't turn up at all. Had a good sing along to Alanis Morrisette in the traffic though, so not all bad. I want to say the 4-4 draw up at Posh, to throw away a 2 goal lead twice in the same match against our promotion rivals, with an injury time equaliser was just horrific. However, you can't say you didn't get your money's worth in an 8 goal thriller. -
Only by a matter of months and I've hated Cox for as long as I can remember. I swear Radio 1 are hell bent on making young people stupider. Radio 1 weekday line-up: 0630 - 1000 - Nick Grimshaw 1000 - 1300 - Fearn Cotton 1300 - 1600 - Scott Mills 1600 - 1900 - Gregg James The last 2 I can tollerate in small doses but the first 2 are like rubbing your balls with a rusty cheese grater. Then the midday weekend slots are Cox and Vernon Kay... Christ almighty.

Can't stand Nick Grimshaw. He's got that very Northern, very thick persona that I already detest in Sarah Cox. The only difference being he's got an irritating campness thrown in for good measure.

Aside from the mind numbing tedium of reading that same Skacel joke on here every week for over 6 years, I've actually been following him on twitter. That bloke can't half wind up the Hibs fans when he wants to, it's a shame he never played Pompey whilst he was here. -
No, he is tedious, boring, obsessive, ignorant and bordering on paranoid schizophrenic. I gave up paying attention to his posts years ago, they're just nonsense. He is our ignore list poster boy.
-
Don't forget Darren Kenton, he could shift.
-
Who needs Jacko when we've got Craig David. We need a statue of him and his kestrel outside St Mary's IMO.
-
Pompey Online have a similar graph showing the prices of carboard, duct tape and staples.

Don't think Hammond is Prem standard, infact I'd say he was a fairly average Championship midfielder. He is a battler, but that's not enough in the Premier League. His passing is limited and he is pretty slow. We have Cork, Morgan, Davis who are all decent CM players. Lallana and Chaplow can play there if needed. If Buttner signs, he appartenly started off there for Ajax. JWP may break through this year... basically we have plenty of cover without Hammond. If he stays his appearances will be extremely limited. Chaplow was 4th choice CM last year, how many games did he get in that position. Edit: Oops, meant midfielder.

You could huddle under a 50 euro brolly in the p*ssing rain for 3 days drinking Jupiler and eating waffles.

It's quite depressing that when I read that I knew instantly what you were refering to, before clicking on the link.

Actually he's living proof of people getting messed up on drugs even though they are illegal. The whole arguments behind drugs being illegal is based on the assumpion that drug legality equals drug use. I had to laugh at the irony of one woman in the audience (the black lady with short blonde hair) who was basically saying she had seen some horrific effects of drugs, lives ruined etc. but that the status quo should be maintained.

Anyone watching? It's pretty good car crash TV. Probably the first panelist ever to use the word tw*t on QT.

Marussia F1 test driver Maria de Villota Crash

We're talking about an F1 car where one slip of the throttle pedal, a dodgy clutch, anti-stall fault etc. Can have you from standing to 40mph in the blink of an eye. The fact that the team do hundreds of test like this a season doesn't make it better, it only increases the risk. If there's a 1 in 1000 chance of something happening and you try it 1000 times, it's going to happen. I'm not a health and safety mad, high-vis/hard hat brigade but to have what is basically a metal blade at head height in an area where an F1 car is moving under its own power is wrong. -
Boro last season can't have been a long way off, although there were still a few empty seats around. With the TV games I can't do City any more, but I can do West Brom on Bonfire nights (MNF) instead. Pretty pleased with that actually.

Not to mention Guly, Barnard and Lallana is we have to.

They have some decent players and a decent NT, probably because of the popularity of football and a half decent youth set up. However as a League I'd have said it is fairly weak. I've never seen a Croatian League game, so this is all just my own theory but even the best teams like Hajduk and Dinamo are fairly average Europa League material. There are only 4 stadiums which can hold more than 10,000 people. There's a reason players like Modric and Jelavic don't hang around long.

Marussia F1 test driver Maria de Villota Crash

I saw this yesterday, the good news is that she is apparently stable but it's horrific to have lost an eye in this accident. I just hope that's the last of the bad news and she hasn't suffered any lasting brain damage. Get well soon Maria. Such a freak accident to happen. Leaving a loading ramp at that height really is just criminal though, a couple of inches lower and it would have taken her head clean off. -
Scotland has a population of just over 5m, somewhere on par with countries like Croatia, Georgia and Finland. They just don't have the population to support a decent league.

Has anyone got a copy of today's Sun? I want to know what Katy, 23, from Salford thinks about this discovery.

I heard a story about a friend of a friend of a friend, basically a bit of an urban legend, no idea if it's true or not, about a tail gunner of a Lancaster who was on a mission when his plane got shot to pieces and was on fire. He left the rear turret to bail out, only to find all the parachutes were engulfed in flames. This chap decided he'd rather fall to his death than burn, so he opened the hatch and jumped out. Supposedly he landed on snow covered fir trees, with a big snow drift at the bottom and survived the impact without even a broken bone. As I said, I can't vouch for the authenticity of that story, but if it is true it's just incredible. I wonder how long that bloke would have wandered around the forrest thinking 'feck me, there is an afterlife' before the Germans picked him up.

I think Huddlestone might have had the same problem as Lee Holmes, they both played too much too young whilst at Derby. Both were pretty much first team regulars at the age of 16/17 under Burley. Burley has a bit of a habit of doing this, I remember he played Bale until he was knackered in the second half of our playoff season. Then when he went to Spurs he picked up a few injuries IIRC. -
What's betting these Higgs Bosons turn up on eBay, just like the Olympic torches.

Blackpool got relegated scoring goals for fun, their defence was shocking, not least Stephen Crainey. Dickson is not good enough for a Premier League squad, we need to let him go and bring in someone else. I don't mind in which order, but both need to happen.
