  1. I remember he came on as a sub in that cup tie when we got knocked out by Bristol Rovers, he was massive. Some other fat bloke scored a free kick against us and we lost 1-0.
  2. He had one great game against Hull when Burley gave him a game playing on the right. So for the rest of the season Burley played him on the left. God I miss Whisky George.
  3. Okay, this is who I think we need to win (in bold). Barnsley vs Cardiff - To try and cut Boro adrift of 6th place by the time we go there, so they have nothing to play for. Brum vs Bristol City - Want Brum's playoff spot not being secure when Reading come to town on the last day (unlikely I know). Would all but send Pompey down. Burnley vs Coventry - Want Coventry down by the last day. Derby vs Boro - Same reason as Cardiff game. Donny vs Pompey - Well obviously Leeds vs Posh - Would help if Posh were mathematically safe on Tuesday. They're all but there, 9 point clear of drop zone. Millwall vs Leicester - Need Leicester in the playoff hunt when Wham go to the Walkers. Forest vs Blackpool - Again, same as Cardiff game. Watford vs Hull - Hull go to Wham on the last day. If they were still in the playoff hunt, that would be good. Would also push them above Boro West Ham vs Brighton - Obviously. Ladies and gentlemen, I present Crystal Palace vs Ipswich. The only fixture this weekend we don't give a flying f**k about.
  4. Davis (Mk 2 definitely) Frazer - Jos - Baird - Bale Lallana - Morgan - Surman - Skacel Lambert - Saganowski Subs: Fonte, Cork, Jones, Chaplow, Tadanari. Were we allowed 7 back then? If so I'd have Guthrie/Pele and Sharp too. I reckon Adkins would have gotten so much more out of players like Saga, Skacel, Surman, Jones and Pele than Burley did.
  5. Does seem rather practical for doing DIY. If your aim's a bit off you could take out the plasma TV or the fish tank. Hope that thing has a good sight.
  6. If you get stuck in Boro on Sunday night, try the Metro Inn. It's getting rave reviews on trip advisor. I think after this season's match threads, it has to be nuns.
  7. It's like when we played Man Utd in the cup a couple of years ago. We played out of our skins and took the lead before a couple of mistakes let it slip. Based on that performance you would have said we were a top 6 Premier League side, but of course we weren't. We were just a League 1 side who massively raised our game for a big occasion, which is exactly what Pompey did. I wont claim I knew Pompey would lose last night, but if I had to put my money somewhere that's what I'd have said. After giving it absolutely everything in a local derby their is always likely to be a hangover. Turning up for a game just 3 days later, knackered, near the end of the season and suddenly all that extra passion and from the last game isn't there. It must be difficult to put in a performance.
  8. That cannot be real. If it is I will sell one of my balls to get hold of one. Want to find out how many lives my neighbours cat really has.
  9. I would walk away with a draw pretty satisfied. Would I take it now? Feck no, let's 'ave 'em!! We aren't top of the league by fluke and Reading will f**k up one of these tough fixtures sooner or later.
  10. Supporting Millwall and Brighton!! Has it really come to this?
  11. 3 of us (myself, Justmike and Spudgun) are going to the Boro game. We're driving up and staying in the Premier Inn, Hartlepool Marina on Saturday night, could do with 1 more to lower the costs a bit. Fuel would be £20-£25 each with 4 of us. Hotel is already booked, twin room, would be £34 each plus breakfast. You would need your own ticket (£27 each I think). Total cost £80-£90 plus beer. 3 normal blokes with an average age of 30. Leaving Soton around 8am, going for a few drinks in Boro before the game and having a few in 'pool after the game. We're looking for someone with a similar mentality. No nutters, no p*ss heads drinking 8 cans of Fosters before we've driven 2 hours up the road (I'm not joking this actually happened on our last trip ), we're not getting smashed until 5am after the game. Just a normal person. If you're interested let me know.
  12. We could do with Boro being 7 points behind 6th when we go there. A tall order, but it would be handy.
  13. That's not the spirit! Get behind Brighton FFS!! (No jokes please, that one's far too easy).
  14. Not sure about the formation though. All 10 of them in the centre circle marking Foghorn Leghorn may not work against some of the better teams.
  15. We will get them in the FA Cup and League Cup next season. Both at Fratton, we will go there and batter their (mainly youth) team 10-0 on agg. Lambert will get all the goals playing in our reserve team. He wont get many chances in the first team due to the form of Messi and Kaka. HTH
  16. I'm not debating any of that, I'm just saying Hull have been crap recently and I'd expect Coventry to lose that fixture 9 times out of 10. It's a bit like when we won at Boro in the relegation season. It was very much a one off when he happened to turn up and they didn't. This is all pretty trivial. It all comes down to Coventry being crap, especially away from home. We SHOULD beat them.
  17. Yeah, they don't. Unless you buy it and the cheapest I can find is £125, so no thanks.
  18. But Hull seem to have given up on the playoffs and gone on holiday. 5 straight defeats before they beat Boro today including defeats to Pompey and Millwall. 1 win in 12 before today, they were pretty much bottom of the form table.
  19. This picture is brilliant. Any idea if and how I can get a high res version from getty?
  20. Just going over the possibilities... Even if West Ham suddenly turn into Barcelona, we only have to beat a very disinterested Posh team and a very crap Coventry side. I've been watching Saints long enough that those games are far from a fore-gone conclusion, but f**k me we're close. If it were to come down to the last game, we should hope Coventry are AT LEAST 2 points behind Bristol City. That way they would either a) need a win, have to come and attack and leave them exposed at the back or b) already be relegated and probably demoralised.
  21. Brighton will want their team to win. They really aren't that bothered about us unless we're playing each other, certainly not enough to want to lose to spite us. Now we aren't really fighting each other in the league, they're just another normal team IMO.
  22. Reading at home tomorrow West Ham away on Saturday. I always did like Poyet as a manager. Such a humble and well spoken manager. His teams are always fair and play great football in the right spirit. A lot of brighton fans at the start of the season were claiming Mackail-Smith is better than Lambert and I for one agree with them. So come on then, lets discus all the things we love most about the Seaguls.
  23. So you're saying if we give him a great big magnet, he will cheer up?
