  1. That's basically what I'm saying. Our top players now will get a game in the Prem. It's not like we're going to have to spend £5m on every possition just to compete. What we need to do is cut the players who can't get a game now or wont next year. Jaidi, Holmes, Forte, DC, Seaborne, Dickson (remember him).
  2. I've grasped the concept of planning fine thanks. I'd say Jos was our best CB. He has certainly adapted to being in this league a lot better than Fonte so far. If you're say we need to replace Jos with someone better, then you're basically saying we need to replace all our centre halves. Infact I'm struggling to think of many players we have better than Jos. Lambert, Lallana, Chaplow. You could also argue a decent case for Cork and Morgan. Where does that leave us? 20 new signings for the Premier League?
  3. I think "Keep up Brighton" to the tune of 'play up Pompey' will surfice.
  4. Disagree with that. I think we will need someone in a bit better IF we get promoted. To get rid of a player who is playing superbly, on the assumption that we will get promoted anyway is arrogant and goes against our team ethic. I'd be happy to have Jos in a Premier League squad. It's the likes of Seaborne and Jaidi I'd be getting rid of. Buying 4 new centre halves if we get promoted isn't going to get us very far.
  5. I just feel sorry for the League 2 clubs who stay up till 2am for 10 seconds of highlights.
  6. Jesus... a 4-2 win and we get less TV coverage than a geriatric Glaswegian. To be expected I suppose.
  7. I think they had about 90 to be honnest.
  8. We did exactly the same against Hull under Burley and at Posh last season. Unfortunately we threw it away again against Posh. Must be a Saints thing.
  9. I think Wolves and Bristol City have got the right idea: This isn't bad either
  10. When we got relegated 3 years ago we scored 46 goals. 9-0 win over Brighton should get us there.
  11. Palace - Falconry (Is it still called falconry with an eagle? Eaglery? Is that a word?) Coventry - Hovercraft Saints - Some random kids trying to hit the cross bar I know a lot of people don't give 2 sh*ts about HT entertainment as they're too busy having a pint and a slash, but surely we can come up with something a bit more imaginative.
  12. I went to the games against Swindon and Palace. In both of them we were pretty inept up front and the ball just didn't stick. Luckily we are seldom without Lambert when it matters. The only other instances I can remember are Plymouth at home last year (beat us 1-0 on the way to relegation) and Gillingham away 2 seasons ago (beat us 2-1 on the way to relegation). Not good.
  13. This was BEFORE De Ridder's goal when they all went home.
  14. Not without a fairly big centre forward they aren't. Take Ricky out this team and we've really got an issue. Guly and DC can't hold the ball up to save their lives. Guly's first touch is poor and DC is a midget. Lamberts hold up play and target size are far more important to our success than his goals.
  15. Wasn't great was it. I actually thought the guys to our right under the score board tried to make a decent fist of it. Problem was they were so few, so spread out and in a soulless ground watching a really sh*t team. They just seemed to give up (appart from the 7 minutes between Platt and Guly's goals). In the 5 minutes following De Ridder's goal, most of them flooded for the exits. By the time we were into injury time, I'd say Saints genuinely out numbered Coventry. What an awful club to be a fan of, I just couldn't do it.
  16. No real need to rotate the squad after a 2 week break, so I'd go with the same 11 as today. Barnard should be fit and hopefully Lallana will have his mojo back. Coconut to the best "keep up" chant. I'll bet Brompey fans are already reading this going "what a sad obsessed bunch of c**ts" on NSC. For some reason I can see us drawing this and having to put up with endless gloating about losing our winning run.
  17. We need pace. Forte out, someone in who is much much better. Hooiveld on a perm. About it really. Still wouldn't say no to Beats if the deal was right.
  18. Just back from the game too. Christ on a bike we're not making this easy for ourselves are we. Still, can't complain. Apart from the 25 minutes between half time and their second goal we were awesome and took them to pieces. At half time they showed the highlights on the big screen and litterally all of them were Saints. Coventry didn't have a sniff, other than 2 long range efforts which were as close to the corner flag as Kelvins left post. At 2-2 I was certain there were more goals to come. Coventry were just far too bad defensively, it was all about whether Saints would collapse or wake up and kill them off. Happily, this team is made of strong stuff and it was the latter. Not sure why we wobbled so badly. We came out after the break and just didn't turn up for the first 5 minutes. They could have had 3. After that we were just second to everything and didn't seem to challenge for any 50/50s. Odd and very frustrating to watch after a brilliant first half. Morgan was excellent. Guly took his goal well and looked pretty useful, but he was a bit lazy at times. Hooiveld was also excellent and won everything in the air. Both full backs supported well. Thought Fonte looked a bit shaky at times and Cork was a bit hit and miss. Neither of them was what I'd call bad though. Lallana still nowhere near his best, but took his goal well. De Ridder was class when he came on and that goal was an excellent opportunistic poach. Thought he should have gone on earlier at 2-1. Can we drop the "Steeeeeve chant is punting him off his game" line now please. Clearly isn't effecting him.
  19. Niemi triple save vs Arsenal. Kelvin penalty save vs Brighton.
  20. Yes but I wouldn't need to be a smurf.
  21. Connolly did little else of note in the 'Boro game and the goal was all about the build up. I wouldn't go so far as to call it a tap in, but it shouldn't justify his inclusion in the team by itself. Barnard may not have done much in an U-21 game midweek, but then that was (apparently) a very poor team. If he is fit, he is the better option to DC I think.
  22. Why? Barnard for me every time, even if he is only fit for 30 mins.
  23. You've nearly got it: Cork Cork wherever you may be You left Chelsea for Saints FC You don't give a f**k about Ashley Shoving his mobile up John Terry. Also: Na na na na Na na na na Hey hey hey Steve De Ridder (To the tune of hey hey goodbye, by Bananarama)
  24. I think we should bring back Jan Portability.
  25. Would prefer to see him at least on the bench at Coventry. DC isn't doing it at the moment and I've been a bit disappointed with his contribution for a few games now. Didn't really influence the game when he came on last night. Barnard would be my first choice along side Lambert when fit, although I suspect there will be a fair few sub appearances before then. How long has he been injured? Since March or April I think.
